What kind of help? Let us see! People could post their reason songs and ask for some help, and then we could edit it for em and send 'em back! -

http://www.answers.com/concatenate&r=67 You know the word 'join' would have simply done the trick. Then again, I learnt a new word, so thanks! -

Lol, hopefully not clipping now. It's finished, tell me it's finished! rofl. Yes! Everybody get crazy! I'm moving straight on the Akuma theme! -

www.malcos.co.uk/Malcos_Balrog_Beta.mp3 Strings are a bit wetter now, and I added a touch extra multiband compression just to bring the sound 'out' some more. EDIT: Also added the possible tag standard. -

I agree. I would recommend a bitrate of 192kbps using lame. As for mp3 tags how about something like this (using my mix as an example): If we all send it to be mastered and then possibly Dj mixed, I think it would be best to keep it all as wav when we send it for mastering and then have the last person who masters it encode it to mp3, in order to keep the quality. If so, then that person will be responsible for tagging? -

Cheers Shael. Are there any guidelines for bitrate and mp3 tags yet? -

Okie dokie. www.malcos.co.uk/Malcos_Balrog_Beta.mp3 You were right Shael, the piano was the best choice but there I was trying to run away from my favourite instrument lol. This could be the finished version.....? I'm gonna take a break from this track for a few days and then listen again and see if there is anything dodgy I may have missed. Then after this one is done, I'm gonna have a crack at the Akuma theme. That will be some challenge! -

Sounds pretty cool! Ok, updated my WIP a bit, changed some eq, replaced the pizz with a SFA sounding synth. Very hard to get something to replace the pizz sound that fits in, the only other option would be a guitar sound. www.malcos.co.uk/Balrog_Malcos_Beta.mp3 I'm gonna do some more work on this tommorrow. Pencil me in for a DnB mix of Gouki's theme, I'll see if I can come up with something. -

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah you were right about the pizz, nowhere near clear enough. I listened to it through my headphones and I made some small changes to it, including making the pizz louder. Thanks again Red Tailed Fox! -

Ok my one minute (kinda) Beta thingy is done. It's only the intro though, so it only slightly hints at what I'm going to go for. I'm gonna definitely do a kind of electronica mixed with strings and hard beats thing. Some feedback would be kool too lol www.malcos.co.uk/Balrog_Malcos_Beta.mp3 -
[GUIDE] Mixing for Free (updated 3/27/03)
Malcos replied to oldtimer's topic in Music Composition & Production
Well now, let me just add this for the sake of this being complete in some way. Rebirth, once a rather expensive music program back in the day (303, 808 and 909 emulator type thingy) is now free. Even though you already knew that. http://www.rebirthmuseum.com/ -

Yeah, I made this in 2.5, but made it into a rps using Reason 3.0. It's a shame that the songs are not backwards compatible. -

Erm, ok. I'd like to do Balrog's stage (the boxer). Forget DnB, I'll just do some hard beats lol. -

Oooo, Street Fighter remix project?! I never saw this thread b4, I must be blind lol. Sounds good. I'll see if I can do a DnB mix of one of the stages that hasn't been taken yet. Where do I sign up? -

This has probably got to be the dumbest question on earth, ever, but I just have to ask. How do you use that favourites thing on the browser? Yes yes, let the ridicule commence... -
I remember a thread where someone was dicussing this idea, so let's just do it! You'll need the 'Microlab Refill Pack 1' to get all the drum sounds! Sonic 'Collision': www.malcos.co.uk/Sonic_Final_Boss.rps Ok, this one's not an OC mix, but nevertheless. It's a mix of a tune from Subterrania, the second stage, with the guy with the big head and you're on the rails... www.malcos.co.uk/Sub.rps Heheh, these will reveal just how lazy my production usually is compared to most Reason users! I don't use that many tracks.

Bought the upgrade today. Wow, it really was worth the money! They've really refined it, little touches like actual mute and solo buttons instead of that crossy thing that was always awkward to use. All your sounds seem like they're at your fingertips, and the combinator has some great presets! I wasn't sure about getting the update, but I have to hand it to propellerheads once again. Excellent. -

*NO* Sonic the Hedgehog 'Surely This is a Dream'
Malcos replied to djpretzel's topic in Judges Decisions
The arrangement is interesting in terms of some of the sound design, and the fact that the melodic parts are similar but not quite, a lot of original bits here and there. The thing that really stands out badly are the string patches, which have a very slow attack, odd dynamics and sound rather cheap compared to the rest of the instruments. I can hear artifacts in some of the drum parts, as if they've been downsampled twice (mp3 of an mp3?) At 2.25 the rhytm of the drums seems out of place with the brass, as if it was going out of sync or the brass was coming in slightly too soon. Nice idea, but needs reworking. NO -
*NO* Sonic the Hedgehog 2 'Stormy Night at the Plant'
Malcos replied to djpretzel's topic in Judges Decisions
This almost sounds like a rip. Synths are very close to the original type sounds, drum beat is dry and GM soundset like. Definitely not up to standards. Next time make use of the WIP forum. NO -
*NO* Final Fantasy 10-2 'From a Dream (OCR Edit)' *RESUB*
Malcos replied to Liontamer's topic in Judges Decisions
6.59 MB filesize... This is very repetitive, and yes that's taking the genre into account. Lots of compression used, you can hear the ducking effect of the whole song after the intro section as the drums come in. The synth that starts to fade in at 1.52 (the standard dance synth) is a little too loud when it comes in and for the first part of it's section dominates the mix. The breakdown bit at 3.02 sounds rather off-key at certain points, and the silence with the re-emergence of the sound used in the intro sounds quite strange, probably due to the compression used. Repetitive, and not so good execution make this a NO from me. -
Arrangement was quite good. A lot of the rhythm seems off time, and while I appreciate that a lot of the synths are from a nes soundfont, they do sound quite bare. I think this needs a lot more work in the production department. NO

Probably my favourite track from Deus Ex, so I'm very familiar with it. The drums in this sound distorted, and the sounds are generally just very harsh and low quality. 0.54 and 2.06 sound very very off-key. These sounds just really don't go well with each other, especially as it seems that the tempo of the original is similar to this one, but the feel is very different. Not up to OC quality. NO
