  1. Rather than going to some shady MP3 website, you can download the full gamerip from my web server here: http://host.kg13.com/music/Advance%20Wars%20-%20Days%20of%20Ruin%20(NDS)%20Game%20Rip/
  2. I said exponential because I believe that's what one of my audio editing software programs I used in the past called it. In actuality, what I use most of the time is a double linear fade. This drops the volume a lot initially, but then diminishes slowly near the end. I don't perceive it as being sharp since it ends smoothly. A logistic curve is also good though; I guess it depends on preference and type of music.
  3. Being strongly critical of liberal arrangements (I love some of them, but I'm picky about it), I wasn't too hot on Blood on the Asphalt. However, this soundtrack is great! While I like that this stayed largely true to the original SF2 music, I also like how each stage theme has a distinctive style to tie it to the location and/or the character. The HD themes are well done, and some of them sound pretty cool. And wow, props to Jose for taking on almost all of the ending themes. Dev Kitty must be proud. Speaking of the artists, it was impressive having classic remixers such as AE show up to work on this. You guys know what it takes to make a quality game soundtrack and it makes me happy. My only complaint, as minor as it may be, is the track length and fading of the released soundtrack. I've listened to hundreds of officially published soundtracks, and based on the standards found therein, this is rather sloppy by comparison. Even most fan-made gamerips can get it right. I've done a couple myself. I don't know if some of the choices were done for a particular reason, but these are the things you should take into consideration next time this a soundtrack is done: 1. Don't even start fading out until the song has played completely through at least once. I haven't heard all of the music played in-game yet, but I can tell that some of these fade out before they're even done. 2. Keep track lengths as consistent as possible. Is there a reason why Combat and Service HD loops that many times? It's practically as long as some of the normal stage themes. By the way, two iterations of the complete song per track then a fade out is the norm, but longer tracks should have less iterations. 3. A personal preference, fade outs should be longer, and the velocity change should be more exponential than linear. 4. At least 3 seconds of silence at the end of each track. Some times it's even longer. Unless you specifically have the tracks blending together, they shouldn't run into each other when listening to them. I meant that to be educational, so I hope it was. Anyway, this soundtrack is great, and I hope it's the first of many!
  4. I love the Days of Ruin soundtrack. You can tell that Yoshito Hirano tried his best to convey a full rock/orchestra sound on the DS, and the melodies are wonderful. It's a shame that the limited sound capabilities of the DS have reduced the technical audio quality by a lot. It would be awesome to hear someone bring the music up to the true level it has striven for.
  5. Audience noise. But at least that's better than what happened with another orchestral piece Paul composed. During the performance, some bitch kept coughing and you could totally hear it throughout the recording. That's the problem with having a small room for performing.
  6. In addition to persuading Paul to submit it here (and doing the actual submission work myself), I also came up with the title for the arrangement. Of course, Paul retains full credit for the music. I think it's an excellent arrangement and a great performance. I only wish the recording was a bit better, though it's still good. I love Naruke's work, and Paul made a wonderful homage. I submitted this in April of 2007. It's been a while, but I'm glad it's finally here! =}
  7. Happy Birthday, Dave! Are you having a party?
  8. The GFF people may be joining the meet as well. We've just proposed the idea, but here's the thread: http://www.gamingforce.org/forums/community-commons/30894-gff-dc-va-md-meet.html#post592642
  9. I would like to announce now that I will also be joining the project, providing a collaboration with Liontamer and Palpable. The details will come at a later time.
  10. I'm one of the new editors, lol. I'll try to post some stuff when I'm not lazy.
  11. Awesome work, Lo-ji Man! I'm going to have to meet with you and CHz sometime soon and see what mixes you've received so far, and which ones are making the cut. I haven't been keeping track since after that Follin DoD.
  12. I'm still around and ready to contribute where needed, provided I don't get super busy with something. Follin deserves a finished, quality project. That website design might take me some time, but I may have some added motivation to do it since I'm currently trying to look for a job with a graphic design spin on it, and my portfolio is pretty pathetic as is. However, if someone else wanted to jump on it (or work together with me), that would be very welcomed.
  13. So...when is the switch to vB going to happen? I rarely come here, but I still enjoy a good forum upgrade.
  14. It's shit shit. This is real shit. /ROFL
  15. I still need shows 50-59. I seed every VGF I can, often. By helping me you are helping others as well. Thanks again!
  16. I'll set my torrents back up to seed right now. I was seeding regularly for a while, but something happened to all of my stored torrents, and I put off setting them back up. I hope Larry releases those other shows before long. Wouldn't want them to die in a hard drive crash or anything. EDIT: I just realized I don't have episodes 50-59. If somebody could seed them at least long enough so that I can download them, I'll be sure to keep them seeding more often than not.
  17. Good? EDIT: Added another version. Choose and pick the best one. EDIT II: I heard somebody requesting JC Denton. Couldn't ignore a fan of the BEST GAME EVER (Deus Ex, for those who don't know). Here's the version from the game cover. LT: Took the left Koopa and this Deus Ex deal. Nice yo.
  18. Well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Here's my submission of Koopa Troopa from Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. The first one uses transparency with a white matte, the second one has the standard white background that was on the original image. If you need a different color matte, let me know. LT: The transparent one has a bunch of stray white pixels around the edges, so it's too rough. I leave it to your web design-influenced judgement to choose a better color for the background.
  19. I had to tune out about midnight PST, but I enjoyed the show to end all shows. Good luck in DC, Larry!
  20. Oh snap, good thing I came here and saw this. Joining chat right now. Good luck, Larry!
  21. It's because I judge-hate.
  22. Why don't you just allow 80x80 sized avatars and get rid of the huge-ass signatures instead? Okay, I'm not going to leave it at that. Forgive me while I hijack this thread, but you guys are defeating the purpose of an avatar. An avatar is supposed to define yourself uniquely in picture form. It's used for immediate recognition of a poster. Allowing people to only choose from a pre-defined set of avatars is essentially pointless. Now you might think you can do the same with signatures, but why bother? They take up WAY more space than a custom avatar. Furthermore, thanks to no apparent signature limits at OCR, they tend to clutter the flow of posts and add unnecessarily to the page length. I could go on, but I know this won't change anything anyway. Four years I've been on the forums, and it's all the same.
  23. Larry could always make up for it by using the Arcana soundtrack as background music for his next show. SPCs ahoy!
  24. Did you mean "Elven Tears"? I would like to know since I would rather tag the track with your title than djp's; since you're the artist and all.
  25. I was going to start Song of the Week voting today, but now Gamingforce is down. I guess this week is done for.
