Quoted from NYTimes. I'd link it, but you need a login to view it.
"..Ms. Lawrence said that since the controversy over her remarks erupted she had watched someone play the game for about two and a half hours. "I recognize that I misspoke," she said. "I really regret saying that, and now that I've seen the game and seen the sex scenes it's kind of a joke.
"Before the show I had asked somebody about what they had heard, and they had said it's like pornography," she added. "But it's not like pornography. I've seen episodes of 'Lost' that are more sexually explicit."
At least she admitted to it being a mistake.
LOL Faux News.
I commend Lawrence for coming clean, but this also shows again how shitty Fox's journalism is. Getting second hand information (which may be all rumored) from people before going on the air counts as research?
I wish I could show up to my English professor and admit to him, "Sorry to tell you, but I BS-ed on my report and Googled some stuff last minute, but hey, I still get to keep my grade, right?"

This is some awesome work. You mix up the source quite well for a track that spans four minutes. Add in some drum improvisations to break out of the standard beat. At 3:11 is good, where the beat picks up.
Does anyone know a good *cough* (free) drum slicer that has reverse or slow down capabilities?Use the Glitch vst, and with it you can crunch, reverse, slow down and retrigger samples, whether they're loops or played as notes. If you're using FL, it's best used together with the Fruity Slicer tool.

I don't think the speed or tempo is at all a problem, but I'd agree with Daffydd on a few points. You have the piano too loud for to carry the rest of the tune. It's overpowering, like someone hogging up a jam session. Same thing goes with the twangy zynth after 1:15.
Is there some kind of pan flute I hear at the beginning? You should use it more.
-
New WIP!! I did a improvements to the sound, slow down the tempo, and it's suddenly sounding more Haddaway-like.
Added a few more snares and more punch to the bass drum, and fixed the panning issues so the synths and strings aren't all over the place. Transitions are still kind of...there, but that's the way I work. I build the major pieces first and mend them together at the end so it's not so sloppy.
There is also a new section from the source at 3:15 but that's more of an afterthought. I'll see if I'll keep that in the final version.
Checked out the source. As I've spend an unhealthy amount of time playing SSBM, I should have recognized the theme in the remix. I didn't. What does that tell you?I guess that tells me....I'm doing a pretty good job of turning and chopping up the source and making it my own.
But really, the source should be recognizable even if it's a different key and slowed down. 0:02 in the video is featured in 2:13 in the remix, 0:16 and 0:43 in the video go with 0:57-1:27 in the remix, and 0:58 in the video corresponds to the remix's introduction. (these times go with the NEW wip I posted) I don't know if anyone else has problems finding the source, but it should be apparent I think.

I recognize the main them source here and it sounds great throughout. You nailed the miami bass sound well- it really sounds like Flying Steps at some points.
The section from 1:33 to 1:54 has gotta be my most favorite part of this mix, even though I don't remember the source music used here. The female vocals blend in well, and I have no problems with the lead that follows at 0:38. The only thing that doesn't work for me is the somewhat sudden change at 1:20 and the choir vocals sound a too "midi-like". They need to sound fuller.

You can keep the noise and EQ levels then, but the judges will not like a submission sounding like it's in mono unless the rearrangement is EXCEPTIONALLY good. Do pan some of the instruments. The synths themselves should've had some stereo expansion already, if they were layered.
-
Yes. I wasn't really playing them for the last few years, except for GBA titles, but since getting a Wii, DS, and 360, I've been having loads of fun. Still, I'm not as much of a gamer as I was - I don't play for hours on end every day. Just an hour or two here and there.
I'm in the same boat as Zircon, sans the Wii (I don't have one yet). For me it was usually the portable games that kept me going during my college years, because you can take them anywhere, and play in a more relaxed position.
This might be hokey, but the achievements in Xbox 360 might encourage me to play more games again. They're pointless, but people like bragging about pointless stuff.

I like the style of this. Very laid-back and "liquid".
But what's up with the production? Everything sounds mono, and kind of like it's recorded from an old casette. Not the slight noise, I'm fine with that, but the EQ levels are just okay. I don't know if that's part of the retro style you're aiming for, but the production is the only major thing that will keep this from getting a YES from the judges.
Apart from that, you have nice synths and drum programming. I would love to hear this with better recording quality.

Welcome, newbies and Snacks 'n' Jaxsons!

The Wordpress blog would probably have a plugin like that. But I'm just guessing because Wordpress is very pouplar and already has a ton of plugins.

Azzido Da Bass has the sickest bass wobble.

I have an oddity: Gunbound music in NSF format. It's not official but I don't care, the chiptune version of Metropolis is surprisingly rockin'.
-
Looks SNK not Capcom, still cool, but it makes me think Capcom Fighting Jam
Agreed. I wouldn't mind much, but Street Fighter purists probably would want that "KOF crap" out of there. Funny, she reminds me more of King, not Vanessa.
And if those thighs can crush tanks, I'm afraid to see what Chun-Li's beefed up anatomy looks like.

You can hear the source here:
As you can see, most of the song is transposed to fit with the key of the opening section. I feel that this lends itself to a better interpretation for the dance music genre.
Which transitions are weak? You mean the cliche drum rolls? I'm trying working on those.

The Mac Air is a cool machine to look at, but it only gives me 1 USB port and 13-inch screen. But the biggest dealbreaker for me is the battery. They tucked it in like with the iPod, meaning I have to send it off to service technician if it needs to be replaced. I don't know why Apple keeps doing this.
15" MacBook Pro is the better bang for the buck.

I want a new New Super Mario Bros. game. The last one didn't totally satisfy me.
Patapon looks like it could be fun. But I'm not sure you consider it pure platforming. It's more like a side-scrolling strategy action game.

I am familiar with this source only through SSBM as the familiar Fire Emblem music, since I have never actually played any of the Fire Emblem games. The first song, "Together We Ride", makes up most of the remix. Someone else had attempted this theme a couple months ago but unfortunately never got around to finishing it. After a long time of not getting any feedback, I decided to follow in his footsteps and started from scratch.
The style is heavily inspired by early 90's euro dance, you know, all that commercial radio stuff. This is interesting for me since I am a mostly electronic remixer and I hardly use trance and euro as my influence. So enjoy what I have.

My name's Christian but I prefer to be called Chris. Simple.
My other handle, CC Ricers, has a more interesting story. My initials are CC, and in 5th grade a girl used to call me CC Ricers. That was a Keebler snack that used to be made way back then. A lot of people think I'm a major gearhead because of this name.

This is more electro-house than trance, but in my book, electro-house beats trance
I love the dramatic orchestral flourish as an intro and does a great job blending into the beats and bass later on. It reminds me of Disgaea. But the electro-ish snare is way too loud. Over-compressed maybe? At its current volume the snare is very distracting with the constant hit at the 2 and 4 of each measure.
The other instruments fill in the soundscape well and I don't hear any problems with them. This is off to a good start!

I commend you for remixing my most favorite tune in Guilty Gear X. The opening beat is rough and edgy, and that's enough to know it's Beatdrop material. Yeah, the high-pitched lead is very grating sometimes, but it doesn't clip and you can just lower the volume a bit. Beatdrop lives up to his name yet again!
-
I never played through this part of the game, but I instantly recognize the source because I heard the original in a mashup with Busta Rhymes. You captured a very nice morning jungle feel with the ambient sounds and the crisp EQing. What I think would make this better would to bring in choir vocals, as they were used in the original. Or maybe some "tribal" vocals to really nail the jungle atmosphere.

The drums at the very beginning remind me of Green Velvet. "Cameras ready prepare to flash"...ahhhhh
No, this is good start. So you are going to put off updating this until you get your new studio rig?

games like this get boring after an hour
You've tried it?
It sounds like Dance Factory, but not shitty. I just hope the Playstation Store offers more cheap downloadable games.

From the Metroid Rap page:
Do you know how many times I had to explain this shit? Yeah. I did this with DJBritt. Didn't DJSammyG inform you? Screw it, man. YOU ask him. I told him, and seriously, guys, those other songs were all Matt's fault. Ask him, please and leave me the fuck alone. I don't even know what the fuck OCremix is. That is probably Matt's thing. Now leave me the fuck alone, and tell all your OCRemix fucks to leave me alone. I have had it.Eat shit and die. Have a nice day!

Hah. This L33tn00bpwner guy is like those punks that speed up cheesy dance music, add crappy accapellas on top, and give the result a new song name. And they usually put "DJ" in front of their artist name.

I started remixing dance tunes back when I was using Impulse Tracker, but don't recall doing much in the way of original work. That didn't start until I used FL.
My first original on FL 3 - caution: extreme panning ahead!

I tried to get more serious here.
