  1. Maybe they could alternate. Play a RRR one week, Play a WIP another week. I voted, BTW. Well the only thing is that we don't really wanna play favorites, so picking a WIP would be kinda tough. For the RRR we're gonna see what comes up on a page THEN roll a dice to pick which one out of the 6 it is to really keep it random Thanks for voting Walan, and anyone else that did.
  2. Hey thanks YoshMaster, if we can get boosted up into higher rankings more people will hear our show and bring more visitors to OCR! Also, I would really like to interview DJP, hopefully we can arrange something. And a judge would be a good candid look behind the scenes at OCR, does anyone have anyone in particular they'd like to hear from? Lastly, we are trying to get little clips from the remixers that are going to be featured on the show so hopefully they get back to me in time. Glad you like the show! Thanks for the support..
  3. I was actually thinking of changing the 2 songs in the intro each week to keep things interesting..
  4. Yeh I'm working on getting a few people together for that exact kinda thing. Good to get different angles on shit and keep it fresh. Also yeh I'm sounding a little tired and dry, I'll try to take a few uppers before the show next time, heh..
  5. Not sure yet, for now all attention is on OCR and the people within this community. If something else relevant comes up that has to do with VGMix we may bring attention to it.
  6. Yeh and half the fun is being there in the chatroom and all. Theres a lot of + and - points for both podcasts and live broadcasts, but its all good.. Also if anyone wants to add me to their Skype im krag_x_one on there..
  7. Well mostly we get on Skype and just talk to each other. I record my half, Aurora records hers and then she sends me her mp3 and I mash them together with music, editing and all that stuff in Sony Vegas 6.0.. We had a couple retakes and we had some technical issues, but overall thats how it goes. We're gonna be able to put it together smoother and quicker in the future.. Also do you guys think the full songs should be played or just minute or so clips to give people the idea? I mean its a 64kbps stream anyway so you're gonna go get the real thing right?
  8. WHAT'S A PODCAST? It's the newest thing in online blogging. It's like a radio show that you download and listen to whenever you want. It's not broadcast live anywhere so you're not tagged with a schedule to follow. The podcast works around your schedule. WHAT IS VGDJ VGDJ is the official podcast for Overclocked ReMix presented by your hosts zircon & pixietricks. The podcast was initially started and hosted by Razya and Aurora, with Wingless being a host for a short time as well. Here's what you can expect to hear: - Reviews and clips from the latest mixes posted to the site - A random older mix as selected by the Russian ReMix Roulette - Special features recorded live at events such as concerts or meetups - Reports from Rama (ThaSauce), Cyan_Ide, and DrumUltimA, covering community news, OCR competitions, and meetups, respectively. - And anything else we see fit! Our shows are usually between 35 and 45 minutes, with the special episodes being up to an hour or longer (so far, never longer than two hours though). New shows are typically released Sunday at midnight, with a few exceptions for the bigger episodes that take longer to edit. If you're a dedicated site visitor, you may not find all the information useful, but for new visitors to the site, this is as perfect introduction. HOW YOU CAN VOTE FOR VGDJ! There are over 20,000 podcasts organized and ranked at podcastalley.com. Because it's such a popular site, achieving high rankings is a way of gaining higher visibility for a podcast - which, for us, means video game music and OCR getting more attention! In order to get VGDJ higher up on the rankings, it's a simple matter of voting for us (note: simply downloading the show doesn't do anything). You can vote by going to the following link: http://www.podcastalley.com/one_vote2.php?pod_id=4140 You just need a valid email address. Type it in, click on the link in the email that you receive, and you're done. You can do it once a month, since the rankings are reset on the 1st of each month. It only takes a few seconds, but it really helps, so please vote! Lets have some fun with this, people! Larry "Liontamer" Oji writes: "Everything sounds excellent so far. Love the format."
  9. Ok almost done, need to tag on an ending mostly and fix little bits.. Been workin on a few other things that can be found at http://www.rayza.net Heres the almost done wip: http://www.rayza.net/misc/azure-almostdone.mp3 I also don't have enough mojo to finish the credits theme so I've been taken off of that one..
  10. Nice to see you posted on OCR DCT.. Props bruddah.. Good work overall on this, I can chill to this. Keep it up, hope to see more from you..
  11. So which tracks is Snappleman working on? I don't see any clues on the first page..
  12. Since I'm a little behind on the Credits theme (due to PC changeover..) I'm posting what little I have, if only to prove that I am working on it.. Nothing much yet, just the arp, drums and bass.. Using the sidechain on the compressor to get that pumping sound when the bass kick comes in. Not sure if I like the overall feel/genre that much yet, but I'll see what other people say.. http://www.rayza.net/misc/credits01.mp3 Edit: There is no structure yet, just the parts I've been working on. No this is not necessarily how it will start, etc.. Just an example of whats going on..
  13. This guy is always talking in tongues or something..
  14. Hello everyone.. My name is Sonic the Hedgehog.. The Fastest, Thing, Alive..
  15. Not sure if anyone mentioned this before but its distorting due to high levels. Get your levels down and watch the volume meters, they'll tell you if you're distorting (clipping) or if you're ok. I kinda cringed when I heard that stock plucked sample, been done to death really. Even I used that thing way back in the day. Around 2:54 its just getting way to heavy and muddy. Are you eqing your instruments? I think its mostly the problem that I mentioned above, overall level is too high. Keep that under control and this will sound a lot cleaner right off the bat. I also think its too long for the nature of this song. Personally I think if you cut a minute off this thing it would be for the best. Theres just not enough variation going on to keep it interesting for 5 minutes.. I like the energy and style that you're going for but theres a few problems that need to be fixed before proceeding. #1 being the distorting.. Ch-ch-checkitout!
  16. Glad you're liking it more.. Yeh I worked through like 7 or 8 lead synths before settling on this one. I was getting frustrated after a while, heh.. Might make a good name though since this is a race tune. "Battle For The Lead" (synth)..
  17. Thanks.. I was thinking of getting some announcer sounding guy to be like "its a rainy day for a race here in azure lake.. etc.. " right at the start just where the pads are playing.. Good idea or bad idea..?
  18. This whole song sounds very right heavy.. Is everything panned to the right by accident? Other wise it sounds really good.. The beatwork is well done and the sounds come together pretty good.. Maybe a little more EQ work for the final but I like it so far..
  19. Ok, heres a newer version (no whacky piano) for the WIP 1 deadline. As stated earlier, I'll post the credits theme soon hopefully. Thanks for bein patient folks.. http://www.rayza.net/misc/azure22b.mp3
  20. Dear Tertial, Thanks for all the comments. Glad you like it so far. I know I need to work on the ending more, I was mostly working on the lead for most of the time and it will be a lot smoother in all the transitions eventually. Also the way you hear it now is not how it will end in the final version, I just haven't completed writing it yet. I'm probably just going to jam for a few bars with that lead and start bringing everything out for the end.. As for the piano part, thats just my sense of humor at work. I love making obviously horrible things and seeing what people will say. Like that way detuned song I posted a year or so ago and people were like "ehh, you should fix this and that.." I'm just waiting for someone to say, what the hell was that garbage? Don't be afraid to say it! Hah.. Anyhow, yes the piano will be gone in the final version. Hopefully I can get started on the credits mix soon, any suggestions for genre to write it in? Obviously something upbeat/dancey.. Again thanks for the comments. EDIT: Also you mentioned you noticed the sonic spin sound effect, did you notice the "3 2 1 GO" sound effect at 2:52?
  21. Well orchestral credits are way different than I'd be doing them. Very nicely done so far. I'd suggest getting more pan variation in there, a lot of it sounded centerish to me.. Anyway heres what I've been working on lately.. http://www.rayza.net/misc/azure21.mp3 Been fighting with that main lead from the start. I don't have the patience to keep tweaking it anymore, hope y'all don't hate (the lead) too much..
  22. Sorry but my Credits Theme tune will be a little late. I hadn't planned on Reason 3 being such a power hog, but it is. Bought a new computer and I'm almost done configuring it. I talked to sith (formerly sith) about it and its all good. So don't count me out of that song, I should have something ready by the middle of next week. As for Azure Lake, I continue to work on it..
  23. I'm guessing you're gonna run out of bandwith in about 2 seconds so I hosted it here as well. http://www.rayza.net/misc/S3_K_-_Survive_the_Cold.mp3 I also noticed a few problems. Around 1:35, that transition is pretty sloppy. Sounds like the timing ain't right. Maybe try to smooth that up a bit. 2:08, lots of clipping on that big hit there. All distorted and ugly. Try fitting the volume levels in a little better there.. Near the end of the song when more instruments come in, there is more unwanted distortion. Most likely due to the main level of the tune being too loud, turn your main level down or some individual parts down. Overall its too much volume. Otherwise its nice and original. Good stuff so far..
