  2. You two are hilarious :J I may have taken too long in writing my reply because it looks like people are happy *_*
  3. Just wanna add something: I started voting early on but my vote didn't count in the end and I lost my votes (sorry I forgot to revote). But I can tell you that the majority of my votes went something like this and would have been counted this way: 1s 10% 2s 15% 3s 60% 4s 10% 5s 5% - I rarely gave a 5 because a lot of songs felt like they could have been better, or were rushed and could be spruced up a bit more. To me 5 the BEST. It needed to be special. - I gave a 4 to the songs that I thought were best out of what I had heard. - I gave mostly 3s when I was indifferent, which was kinda a majority of the time. - I gave a 2 when the song rubbed me the wrong way, or had something too glaringly bad for me to get over, such as severe clipping throughout a song. - I rarely gave a 1 but when I did, something about a song really bothered me or had huge problems. If anyone at all followed my voting patterns, which to me felt very honest and natural, if maybe a little bit harsh, but not in any bad faith or with preference, vendetta, or bias, then it makes sense that some of the scores are so low on average. Just remember that when people are given the opportunity to be secret with their opinions and comparisons, the truth of how they feel might be a little bit harsher than what they might even indicate otherwise. That's the nature of the beast. I am putting this voting pattern out there that did not get counted, just to show you guys that the hint of a spoiled vote is probably not at all close to reality, and in fact, voting took a while to do for us, we had to listen to songs and it wasn't just some small thing... So to imply that people were doing something wrong by taking time to vote is kinda... yeah... And even if someone does go bonkers and voted randomly or w/ bias, that's again, the nature of the beast. You can't hold a public vote without making it available to everyone who wants to vote. You have to take the possibility of someone voting in bad faith into account, and you have to let it go. Zircon at least made you register your e-mail address, which can help w/ accountability. It doesn't stop possible problems, but it deters them, and that's really all you can do w/ a public voting system. Also this is why the voting is secret, because people like me get to be "harsh" and vote honestly what they really think and not have any repercussions. So now you all get to look at what I thought, and I put this out there because I think the bad accusing atmosphere needs to stop. You should all be happy, you made a song in a very short time period, you hopefully used this as an opportunity to learn a lot and grow as a musician, (and maybe even as a person). Grace is a good virtue.
  4. Yeah, I know what you're talking about, but I honestly don't feel like spending any more time on it, so a few weird rendering glitches can put a few hairs on someone's chest. Thanks for the feedback.
  5. Unfortunately that probably won't work unless they are really nice. Oh... Yeah they've had the name since 1997 (have they sold any albums commercially?), you probably could not win a case like that even if you trademarked your artist name. So IMO your best bet would be to ask nicely if they are no longer together, or maybe try this underhanded tactic of pressure like what's happening to Brad. First to file vs. first to use
  6. Hey OCR, give your support: Upvote! Digg! Post, spread the love on your feed! <3
  7. The listening party is tomorrow night folks! ANTICIPATION!
  8. Oh and please, Don't miss the LISTENING PARTY! Tuesday, May 29th, 10 PM EST (7 PM PDT) - hosted at Arecibo Radio by overcoat! irc.esper.net #areciboradio! Be there! (What else are you gonna do on a Tuesday?)
  9. Thanks Jay! I hope it captures the awesomeness that is this album. It's so good.
  10. Making a thread so no one misses out by playing WoW or something. Here is a link to information Unfortunately it's only for West Coast, but you can partially see it in the Midwest. I will take some pictures and post them here later. Also I posted this in Gen Disc because people who can see it shouldn't miss out!
  11. Space Ghost Coast to Coast is still my favorite show. Funnier than anything that came after it. The "Golden Age" of Cartoon Network really was friggin' awesome. Nothing beats Dexter's Lab... And I miss Cow and Chicken lol... Johnny Bravo was sometimes hilarious, but had some duds too... That being said, a lot of shows kinda sucked then and would suck now... The lineup has always had hits and misses... My problem w/ Cartoon Network is that it's been trying to retain the same audience for the last 15 years. People grow up, they stop watching cartoons, so they introduce wacky/zany/fart humor live action shit to keep them hooked... But what I think happened is that people like me who were CN fans as teenagers or kids don't want CN to progress w/ us past a certain point (like adult swim was the beginning of the end, even though it was good for a while)... SO yeah... To me, current CN is kinda trashy... But who cares if I go back to watch it? If I do, I want them to try to appeal to the 15 year-old me (bright eyed, bushy tailed), not to the (cynical) me-in-college who eventually found better things to do than to watch non-cartoons on a cartoon network. There's a point where you gotta say... "Hey... we are the Cartoon Network... Not Comedy Central meets Nickelodeon" (in a bad way).
  12. Thanks! Yeah, the Metroid II theme is an anomaly in itself IMO. It's more upbeat than most Metroid songs in general. It kinda has that Zelda II feel. The lead from the gameboy tune, I always felt should be some kind of gritty organ. I tried to add a more Metroid Primey lead though, and some choir for good measure
  13. OMG DONE! Actually I didn't work on it all this time, I kinda put it off until today, but you can call this complete now. DOWNLOAD LINK What do you think, too conservative to submit? I made a YouTube video of me playing the Metroid II Remake Demo Anyway, enjoy!
  14. Ohhhhhhh yeah! You guys are in for an amazing treat!
  15. Well, I have a WIP of New Continent sitting around that I started months ago. It's synth/rocktastic. Might as well.
  16. I dunno. I always thought it was something that kinda mimic'd Moonsong from Cave Story. The dude that wrote it, George Buzinkai used to go by the name "The Doctor" or something, so it's like, his song for how he felt. He based the name "The Doctor" off the character from Cave Story. Also some parts remind me of Secret of Mana etc. It's also been pointed out that it resembles ... So basically IMO Doctor is kinda just a clusterfuck of inspiration from lots of things.
  17. Bump. Like two years later, I read this. I think it's awesome. I was increasingly surprised at how detailed the writing is, and how loose ends either get tied, or tied to something else... But there's nothing lazy about the story arc... Even if it's bizarre, things are always introduced in a way that can make sense in that "world". It's hard to describe. Also Tensei has ended up on the music team, and he did a huge chunk of the music for the Cascade flash, which is probably one of the greatest things ever. I got a song on their latest album w/ a remix of Doctor too *_*. So yes, read it, and discuss? Anyone?
  18. You know it's kinda tough. My vote is for this reason: I think you guys are really creative and are out to tell a story. While Granny has a big sentimental value, and seems like something that I might even be interested in watching, the same w/ M vs. F... I kinda feel that both of those are more riding on the "wonder" element, a research thing that I think people will probably end up seeing one way or another. Your film however, you can tell it's something that took a lot of creativity and spare time. It's riding on itself, a ton of work by a lot of people... And honestly I think movies today, especially movies that have a real story to tell, are super hard to find... Basically, Hollywood is in creative limbo, and we should really support artists that are trying to break that mold, even when they are doing it out of their own pockets. So you win.
