Hey Pokefans, more info today. Check www.serebii.net or http://pokemonelite2000.com/ for deatils. A new poke, and the full in-game map are revealed. And there are a few new videos showing actual battles, so you can see how the touch screen is used.

Speculated and rumored for months, it's no real surprise. Even back in late 2005, one of the game directors made a page in his blog about how they (Game Freak) were going to use all the features of teh DS for Diaond/Pearl. At least it's all confirmed now, so people can stop making up shit (Gamefaqs, I'm looking in your direction).

The blue one looks like Metagross in color, Suicune in face, and Raikou with that shiny armor face-plate thing. The white one looks like Lugia and one of the Yugioh white dragon things got drunk one night and didn't use protection. Well at least we get some alright looking ones, namely that giant purple death scorpian thing.

Ooooh... Pollycons. I get those.

Wait, wait, wait... You've lost me.

Sorry, Smoke, your technical jargon confuses the masses. Could you dumb it down a bit?

Update on a personal interest: first video footage for Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. Also, dropping to the third page? Come on, guys, that's just terrible.
-
Yeah, the same. I see a few copies everytime I go into the local one.
-
Really? Where do you live? If it's not to far, I think I can help you with that.
-
That depends on what games you want. There's a healthy supply overall, but I think RPGs are being seriously neglected this Christmas.

Here's what I'm reading this last few pages: "Waaaah! They made a game somewhat differently from the last one(s), I'm not happy with it! Why can't they make it more like the old one(s)? This sucks!" And yet, not too long ago, the same people (in general, not just you guys here) were going on and on about how the other two companies aren't doing anything different at all, and just release the same games over and over with nothing to make them better or stand out from the rest. I knew video game fans were a fickle, hypocritical bunch, but you guys amaze me, even in my cynical, bitter years. Now get off my lawn.

I think that it may use some sort of limited online battling, sort of like how in Golden Sun, you could take your team and fight against another player's team. That, or there's some sort of co-op system, or item exchange... who knows?

I hear that FF3 is WiFi enabled. Hmmmmm... I wonder...
-
Silly question, but why would you want to flash your DS? What would the purpose be?

That's actually something I haven't heard anything about. They can't completely take them out, if for no other reason than that Milotic uses pokeblocks (which are made from berries) to raise its Beauty stat high enough and then level up. It's already been set as a game mechanic, and they haven't screwed around with evolution mechanics very much. The only time they did was for Gale Of Darkness, and that was only because someone was too lazy to make the game read the internal clock on the Gamecube and use that to determine wether it was day or night. Berries could change, as they did from GSC to RS, but they still had the same properties. Cosmetic. But the whole Berry Blending thing was useful for making high qality blocks. I guess we will see when they release it in the autumn.

Diamond/Pearl supports 16 player locally. Mmmmm... local tournaments. I just hope they let us download Mew and Celebi and other rare pokes/items/whatever over WiFi. It sucks that you need to attend special contests or events on the other side of the world or the country. I know the entire idea is to make them really, really special, but come on... I want to see what the rest of the PokeWatch stuff is supposed to be. The reports said that there are 20-some upgrades and expansions for it, and we've only seen a few so far.

Wrong thread, guys.

What the fuck? Why do I have two messages when I only posted one? If a mod could clear that first one, that would be great, thank you.

Headphones will fix that right up.Any one care to speculate as to when North America will see more colors? That's one of the two reasons I'm holding out on getting a Lite (the other being that I only bought mine a year ago). No, I'm also playing it a lot. I have seven game right now. For comparison: N64: 5 games Gamecube: 5 games GBA: 13 games GBC: 14 games I think I like my portabels more than the consoles...

I was thinking about it. My DS has a single stuck pixel, as well as some sort of dust or crud that moves around underneath the coverplate, on the top screen. And the little gap that is there when you colse the system leaves little bits of dust and whatnot to float around inside when you carry it in your pocket. Not a major concern, but it does exist. IOn the other hand, I've only had mine for less than ayear, it still works fine, and I'm somewhat attached to it. The one pixel is only noticable when certain colors are displayed, and the minor dust scratches on the screens aren't visable when you play. Maybe towards the end of the year, when certain games come out, and when more colors are offered, I'll pick on up.

You know that games offer a way to transfer your stats (like your Friend Code) over to another DS, right? Check your copy of Mario Kart, it's in there.
-
Fucking Europeans get the black one. Why is it that Japan gets eighteen million colors, but the rest of the world is subjected to only a few?
-
Different countries get different advertising campainges. In Canada, we got the "Touch/Don't Touch" stuff, while the US got the "It's Good To Touch" stuff. So maybe this is just the UK one. And why not market a video game system to homosexuals? Their money is just as money as the next. Or are you some sort of anti-fag fag that hates fags? Hmmm? Are you?

From the more recent, clearer screenshots that have surfaced, it would seem that both the background/terrain AND the characters are 3D. Too bad the battles are still 2D and kind of bland. Here's hoping they d something with the story to make it more interesting. Oh yay, Team "Insert Word Here" is trying to capture your pokemon/start a fire/take over the town/make long-distance calls on your phone! Awesome!
