  1. I was lucky enough to participate in the 5th compo of the day in #mod_shrine. We have gone compocrazy! oc-blackfriday.xm - 48.2kb Full votepack [PLACE 1 -=> hippo <=- Done by -=> ToastyX <=- with 26pts ] [PLACE 2 -=> maglygay <=- Done by -=> kaiser <=- with 24pts ] [PLACE 3 -=> blackfriday <=- Done by -=> soc <=- with 21pts ] [PLACE 3 -=> gaymurk <=- Done by -=> b-knox <=- with 21pts ] [PLACE 3 -=> hooray <=- Done by -=> eKid <=- with 21pts ] [PLACE 4 -=> rlygay <=- Done by -=> DarkCecil <=- with 13pts ]
  2. I never said that! Though yeah I am pretty much favoring all the guitar wank over everything else so far :]
  3. Results! Load it in the genesis emulator of your choice. The damn thing works, kind of! I should try dumping this to .vgm or something.
  4. Holy shit! I think I'll try messing around with the tracker.
  5. midi controllers are basically representations of instruments that send midi data instead of sound - you can get MIDI keyboards, MIDI guitars, MIDI wind controllers, etc. Of course, what most people think when you say "midi controller" is something like this Oxygen 8: Cute little thing. You can't use it all by itself, since there are no built-in sounds, but you can set all those knobs to do stuff inside your music software via a MIDI or USB cable.
  6. I think bLiNd uses a Lexicon reverb, though I don't know how recently or if he still uses it. Not a synth, but it's hardware! Also, a lot of electronic artists will tell you hardware is just so much more fun to use! A lot of people still use tons of hardware, especially analog stuff, because they think that if they use analog synths their songs will somehow be "warmer" but that's ridiculous. Basically it comes down to what kind of control you want over your song. Some people could never give up their old analog mixing boards because a) they still sound great and they're much more responsive and user-friendly than clicking around in a virtual mixer, one knob at a time. There's also the added advantage of having more computer resources available, since all the sounds are being processed outside of the PC. The downside to having a large studio is that, well, it's large. I actually prefer having everything inside a single box, which is totally possible given the power of today's computer. The only thing I would recommend is to forget your mouse and get a midi controller. You'll save so much time otherwise wasted by clicking around for everything.
  7. You can do any kind of electronic music with FL right out of the box. You can get it bundled with some decent synths which sound great when you go beyond the presets.
  8. Eventually you'll just begin to feel where the song needs to change. Also, if you want to get the attention of people who seriously love electronic music, don't call it "techno." The proper term for the dancey styles now is EDM. The rest [e.g. ambient, idm] you just call... not techno.
  9. oc-jagarbigmac.mod - 7.7kb Hello again, 2nd-to-last-place :[ my song is good though [PLACE 1 -=> stepping_stones.xm <=- Done by -=> Strobe <=- with 35pts ] [PLACE 2 -=> Module1.it <=- Done by -=> xaimus <=- with 33pts ] [PLACE 3 -=> disablethis.it <=- Done by -=> CategoryApl <=- with 31pts ] [PLACE 4 -=> wearego.it <=- Done by -=> sublmnl <=- with 29pts ] [PLACE 5 -=> chillax.it <=- Done by -=> Thrasher <=- with 22pts ] [PLACE 6 -=> jagarbigmac.mod <=- Done by -=> soc <=- with 20pts ] [PLACE 7 -=> ftw.it <=- Done by -=> eKid <=- with 19pts ] Here is the full votepack which might stop working soon.
  10. You don't edit midis in Reason, though you can import midi data [right? lol] You do need a keyboard if you want to save hours and hours of your time. Clicking in notes with your mouse isn't very practical.
  11. I'm probably going to spend the next week trying to figure the reasoning of this one line out. The only way they're "useful" is that it's another fun obstacle for cracker groups to bypass in the never-ending waste of time circle that is company-vs-pirate. I don't exactly have the money to spend, anyway. Why should I care? The freeware out there is good enough for me!
  12. I've already heard dongle like 5 times today, and it's only noon. what gives? I don't see why you should buy a product which effectively WASTES your usb ports for the sake of anti-piracy. I'd buy it, but if I did, I'd probably crack it, since, even though I have like 8 USB ports, most of them are taken up by... you know... useful things.
  13. If money isn't involved, zircon isn't interested. LoL~!!
  14. almost forgot. You wanted free music? http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=83517 read this whole thread and you'll have a few GB worth.
  15. DX uses DirectX, and VST was developed by Steinberg with... something else. Don't really know.
  16. I'll be checking this out It'd be nice if the site offered the songs in their original formats [like .it] so I can save a bit of space down with MP3! Are you going to have full EP/album releases in the future? I checked out Storm by Freeman and your recommended track, Gasoline, and this is actually some decent dance music. Thanks for plugging this.
  17. Don't think, play! Thinking comes later!
  18. Okay okay. I know I overreact to these kind of things. I realize FamiTracker is using a very old interface, but that's pretty close to how people made NES music in the first place or at least, that's how it was made on computers. I also realize some of you aren't really aiming for authenticity and that's FINE, I just don't want to hear it when you're done ( ¯_>¯)
