  1. Holy crap! I've been waiting for someone to arrange this, and it turns out to be Mellogear. This is one of my favorite videogame tunes in recent memory. I pretty much have to tackle this myself too, but for now this rendition is pretty amazing. Thanks Mellogear!
  2. Yeah, fakebit seems really popular on OCR now for some reason! What's up with that? I blame Protodome.
  3. Welcome to the club I'm just glad I wasn't kicked off this one while the project leadership changed hands. Thank you for releasing this project finally. I'm loving the songs so far. Even yours Monobrow Also, I made a song for the album, I arranged "Time to Learn" but it didn't make the cut. http://soundtempest.net/soc/remix/oc-kss-kirbynooshie.mp3 you can get it here if you like. I PERSONALLY like it better than the song that made it on the album, so I'd appreciate it if you listened to this song as well ^^
  4. My opinion is probably gonna be unpopular here, but I didn't have a problem with him releasing the music. I made my song in 2005 and then re-made it in january 2008 to keep up with standards. That was 5 years ago. Of course I'd have liked him to contact me about it first, but I kinda just want people to hear my song already? Still, the project was shaping up to be cool, and I liked the storybook idea. Sorry I haven't been very active here about that. I remember we had a really cool flash storybook with flippable pages and cute art, and it was a working demo! I hope something like that can still happen.
  5. I can still get a birthday thread here? lol Thanks That cake looks pretty strong
  6. Unreal also featured demoscene artists, coincidentally there is a track by necros in the game, as well as basehead, khyron etc What Nase is talking about is not the game though, but the classic PC Demo "Second Reality," by Future Crew from Assembly '93. I'll just link the video here: In this day and age I guess it doesn't seem that impressive, but for 1993 this was legendary being rendered in real time and all that. Anyway, the song Nase is talking about is in this demo. On topic... kinda... I'm a droid user. I use xmp for mod files, and Modo for chiptune/vg formats. Both of them have superb playback.
  7. I was in it, but you guys were all on Crystal Desert or some other server, plus never online so I just left ;p might as well toss me another invite if you guys are really active again.
  8. Oh hey, if any of you guys wanna add OverCoat.8294, I'm available to run dungeons and stuff! I play on Fort Aspenwood. Also the proud guildmaster of Turtleneck & Chainmail even though it's just me and 2 other close friends... and i'm repping another larger guild ATM. But hey, more people to run with!
  9. twas an honor to feature this on my station good sir keep making those gameboys sing
  10. Okay, definitely wasn't the power-save feature being on. I've heard lots of great things about RME, but that'll have to wait until I get more money
  11. I completely forgot to check the power saving settings. PCI-e power saving was definitely enabled [i have a PCI firewire card] I'll try the card again soon.
  12. Well, kind of. So I have a bit of a complicated audio setup. Or I did anyway. I have a hardware mixer that I've used for years. Under XP, I used to use just that paired with my E-Mu 1212m, a double-PCIe card that I've been using since 2004 or '05. Worked great. Somehow, I could also get it to record its own output by looping it back through the mixer - completely forgot how to replicate this. Anyway, since I got a new computer with win7 on it, that no longer worked, so I got a 2nd, external card 2 years ago, an Echo Audiofire 4. I integrated that into my audio setup so that the routing path was e-mu->mixer->audiofire>back to pc via firewire. This worked great because it meant I could control my volume via the hardware mixer on my desk and worry about software volume to the tiniest extent. I could also record my shows, pipe pc audio through skype, livestream, or whatever I wanted. More recently, 3 days ago, I upgraded to Windows 8. Somehow, the Echo Firewire card that I used, started crapping out. The audio would stop getting piped from the e-mu card randomly, and I discovered it was because the Audiofire would disappear from the device list [!] and then reappear. This makes doing my radio shows impossible on my current setup. Right now, I guess I'll have to settle for the ghetto solution which is to use Virtual Audio Cables, and my e-mu card. I tried all day to figure out how to get the audio to loop back to the PC from the mixer, but windows itself doesn't recognize any signal. Hoping the VAC thing actually works. So anyway, now I have a useless firewire card and a useless mixer, pretty much. Echo doesn't have proper win8 drivers either, though technically the windows 7 drivers SHOULD work. I'm a little shocked that the E-Mu still works in a 64 bit environment at all, since the last stable driver release for that was designed for 32 bit XP. Also, browsing the E-Mu/Creative forums today was one of the more depressing things I've seen. "Windows 7 drivers please?" "Is E-Mu dead?" The answer to that last one is "Yes." I decided to go to you guys for help, since honestly, I don't know if ANYTHING works in win8, and I can't exactly rent equipment to try out, plus, I know absolutely nothing about cutting edge audio hardware. My question is: Does any pro-audio company even give a shit about the future, or even modern PCs? E-Mu is dead, and even though I LOVED this card, I bought it almost a decade ago for my XP machine. A friend of mine pointed out "Why are you fighting to get this ancient card working?" and I guess that makes sense. I decided I don't want to downgrade back to 7, I'd rather look to the future instead of holding on to old equipment that wasn't designed to work on modern PCs. So anyway, I have a few mysteries that I need cleared up: -I'm not sure whether Win8 changed how firewire acts, or if the Echo card just simply isn't compatible with something changed in 8. -How the fuck is my 1212m even still alive at this point? -Is there an internal PCIe card similar to the 1212M that 1) isn't made by a dead company and 2) made by a company that gives a fuck about updating their drivers? If so, which audio cards do you recommend? Something ideal for doing live radio and/or audio recording, with stereo in/out for use with a mixer? I should mention I also want to avoid firewire, just in case it is actually a problem with Firewire in Win8. Also, it goes without saying, good ASIO drivers. I still compose music, you know Thanks in advance for any help.
  13. Was surprised to see this still on the front page! That's some nice work bumping it Glad to see such support everyone. I recently got another writeup from Gratisvibes about this thing too: http://gratisvibes.com/post/neon-lights-and-technological-grooves/
  14. Today's the 14th, fyi! It'll be coming out later today :3! If you guys would like a preview of what it is going to sound like, it sounds like this: I actually made this right after magfest, and it'll be the last track on the EP.
  15. Mechwarrior 4 is free, you should start with that. http://www.mektek.net/projects/mw4/download.html
  16. http://overcoat.bandcamp.com/album/overcoat-3-one-night-in-neo-seattle Get it here! So I'm releasing an EP finally, it's been a little over a year since I released anything, so I'm pretty proud to be finally putting this out there. This is the continuation of my "Cyberpunk" EP series of dirty & dark electronic music, and you can hear the previous 2 cyberpunk EPs at http://overcoat.bandcamp.com. I'm also releasing the 3rd one there, also for free, or pay what you like. This release features art by Shaun Diggs, and I think that looks pretty cool!
  17. http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?id=283 if you don't want to pay any money for B4 which is expensive if that's all you want, this is the alternative. Been using it for years. There's a nag screen but it goes away when you switch presets.
  18. Thanks for liking us! Feel free to send a request to touhoutuesday@gmail.com and I can [probably] play it on the show :D

  19. Hope everyone enjoyed the show, here's the archive for this week! http://kngi.org/p=3623
  20. Hey guys, remember this show I'm doing? well, it's still fucking on, and I scored a goddamn interview with Renko, head of the "ORANGE★JAM" doujin music circle, and we talked about Comiket and Reitaisai, and the differences between Eastern and Western culture in regards to doujin and fan works. I also got a shitton of brand new Reitaisai 9 music releases in the pipe and ready for Tuesday. I felt this was worth bumping the thread for.
  21. Hope to see you guys at the release party - this album is amazing! Funnily enough, I'll be hosting a regularly scheduled Touhou Tuesday show, and then playing shnabubula's album immediately after that... The mixture of crazy touhou fans and crazy chiptune/shnab fans in the chat should be interesting.
