  1. Sonic the Hedgehog 'Love Hurts' Again, the download system is broken as I write this, but I wanted to get the review system working for the mix. but it's by djp, so it's gotta be good, right? I'll edit this with an actual review once I get to hear the mix. Edit: OK, now that I've had a chance to listen, I must say I really like this one. For all djp's strength at upbeat action-music-gone-technofunk style, I think his real brilliance lies in more subdued songs, and this mix of his id definitely one of those songs. Love the disco-esqueness here, as it's something we don't see too often on this site. If I were you, I would stop reading right here and download it.
  2. Wild Arms 'Adlehyde Castle Flow' Smooth and blissful. A nice mix. A great game. Very enjoyable.
  3. Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike 'Jungle Jazz' It's McVaffe - what do you expect? Quality, that's what! This remix starts with a well-played (or VERY well synthesized) piano solo, then adds jungle drum loops on top of it. Personally, I liked the piano better than the drum loops, as the drums sounded like every other jungle loop. But overall, another winner from McVaffe. Recommended.
  4. Final Fantasy VII 'Fighting (7/8 Jazz Spiritual)' This is a really nice piece of work, although I can’t say I’d like to listen to a lot of this genre, this mix is well done. Except, what gets at my nerves at the back of my spin, is when people put vocals in a mix, spoken word, lyrical, sung, or otherwise, and they are not audible enough to understand. I’m repeating this mix over and over trying to get what is being said, but I can’t make sense of it. Either make it audible, or leave it out, because it’s a major annoyance. Good stuff, Lau, just pump up the volume on your mic some.
  5. GoldenEye 007 'Controlled Jazz' Minimalistic jazz of the classic Bond theme and Mustin on sax? sounds like a winner to me, and my ears agree.
  6. Zelda II 'Thelonius Temple' Niiiiice! I really like the piano on this one and the overall jazz motif. Very well arranged. I can't think of anything bad to say, except that the remixer has never done anything else besides this! That in itself is a shame. OK and I guess it could be a bit longer.
  7. Super Mario Bros. 'Jazz Plumber Trio' Jazz, when done right, is awesome. This is pretty darn close especially when you consider all of the instruments are fake. They sound great! This song jams. Lots of cool piano on top of the loose snare drums. Lots of great jazz elements help ensure this to be a must download. djp definitely likes jazz and it shows. Nuttin' wrong wit dat I tell ya!
  8. Legend of Zelda 'Jazzy' An excellent jazzy piece from AmIEviL. Very laid back, and that's definitely cool. You won't be breakdancin' or scratchin' records to this (if you're into that stuff) but instead you'll relax and want to socialize. If all lounge music was this good, perhaps it would be a bit more popular.
  9. Super Mario Bros. 'Frivolous Funk' It's always cool to hear live versions of game music! This is pretty funky, except it lacks a good bass instrument. It's there but it really doesn't stand out much. Other than that it is a great listen! The Mario theme is probably more recognizable than our national anthem!
  10. Streets of Rage 'Wah-Wah' This is kind of weird. djp has added a fake guitar to the opening theme from Streets of Rage! Kind of hard to describe, you just have to hear it. I wouldn't classify this as one of djp's greatests, but there's not really too much I can bitch about. Except that I wish he'd do this tune again with his current sound setup, and make it techno... something requires to be turned up to 11.
  11. Ecco the Dolphin 'Dorsal Dub' This is a ReMix from the CARTRIDGE version of Ecco the Dolphin, which, in my opinion, did not have memorable music. It was very scratchy and almost irritating. The Sega CD version was fantastic, though. I am not too familiar with the "dub" genre (I think it means to copy something and lose quality in the process). djp captures the annoyance of the Genesis version's music here, only it doesn't sound scratchy. Not much of a melody, but if you listen close you CAN find one!
