Evfan42 Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 guitar setups are you guys running? Im in the process of rebuilding a guitar and was wondering what pickups, bridge, and other hardware I should look into? Quote
Nekofrog Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Ibanez RG7621 customized: 1 volume/no tone/killswitch, fixed hardtail bridge, DiMarzio Blaze Custom in the bridge / custom wound DiMarzio Air Norton in the neck. But as for a 6 string... ? dunno. Quote
Tensei Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Ibanez RG 2570 with the standard fare HSH DiMarzio IBZ pickups, floating Edge Pro III bridge :3 As for good suggestions for six-string pickups, look into DiMarzio tonezone, Super Distortion, PAF Pro. Quote
Sixto Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Different guitars for different sounds! What kind of music will you be playing? Any idea on the tone you'd want? Quote
Evfan42 Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 Im looking for more of a heavy rock/Metal sound. Quote
SnappleMan Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 What matters more is how you play it. But, DiMarzio SD is a good pickup, so is the Seymour Duncan JB. If you're planning on doing lots of diving, you'll want a Floyd Rose bridge and a locking nut, if it fits your guitar. Quote
Evfan42 Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 where would I buy a floyd rose bridge and locking nut, could you point out a store to buy them? Quote
Nekofrog Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 First of all, what guitar are you rebuilding? "Floyd Rose" can mean anything, and there are so many different types out there (too many licensed kinds that suck, OFR's that rock, Ibanez Edge's/Lo Pro's/ZR's which rock) etc. I ask because cavity routing is very important when it comes to buying a floating bridge of any kind; the trem posts may not be spaced properly for what you buy online. Need to know measurements or, better yet, guitar model. Unless you're actually just building an entire guitar, in which case... if you're asking these questions you're not ready to do that yet Quote
Evfan42 Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 right sorry should said that earlier, its a stratocaster. Quote
Nekofrog Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Without some serious routing, FR's are out of the question for you. Also, since it's a strat, what is the pickup configuration? Single/Single/Single? Quote
