djpretzel Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 Hmm, I just realized that I sent this thing in sometime in October, and come to think about it, I don't recall getting a confirmation e-mail to go with it either. So just in case it got lost the first time, here it is again. Name: Z Gravity Original track: Summer Squid, Napple Tale soundtrack, composed by Yoko Kanno. Remix title: Red Calamari Link: (hope it works) Righto, thanks for your time and here's hopin'.
Malcos Posted March 20, 2003 Posted March 20, 2003 Sounds ok, but I haven't heard the original. I'll come back to this once I've done a bit of research.
Protricity Posted March 23, 2003 Posted March 23, 2003 Very cool and funky. I'll give it a Yes until such time as malcos or someone finds that it is the same as the original, if such an event should arise. NO CHANGED VOTE TO NO AFTER INFORMATION ABOUT POTENTIAL MIDI RIP .
Malcos Posted March 29, 2003 Posted March 29, 2003 Ok, after finally finding the original on this page: http://www.therpgsoul.net/?section=accueil&page=article&id=73 I'm gonna give this a YES Just about passes it.
analoq Posted March 29, 2003 Posted March 29, 2003 Thanks for the link to the original Malcos! You made this much easier for me! this sounds more like a MIDI file than an MP3. Except for the flanged drums. Terrible transition at ~0:48. Inferior arrangement to the original, this is simplified rather than expanded upon. Not that simplification can't have good results, but in this case it doesn't. Overall, this is very amateurish sounding, and thus not for OCR. no
DarkCecil13 Posted March 30, 2003 Posted March 30, 2003 Uhh... Yeah, there's no way I can vote yes on this after listening to the original. The ReMix is quiiiiite oversimplified Boring for me it was. NO
Disco Dan Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 This song has lots of annoying qualities: The horns. I don't think I've ever liked those general midi horns since the day of their inception. And no, I don't know when they were originally designed, but this whole mix sounds very dry, and very empty. It sounds like a midi was taken, with three or four tracks in it, and they were mixed and matched and soloed, and then slapped together in a final product. It just sounds very incomplete. The development is minimal at best. NO D
