ProjectTrinity
This was beautifully made. The only (subjective(?)) critique I have would be having the scat singer be a little louder (well, maybe the whole song being a bit louder. =p), and maybe even a part where a sax could just let loose for a whole verse. :'> That said, it saddens me that no one bothered to comment here yet. mrtrent
Thanks for the kind words! I'll take into mind what you said about letting the sax let loose. This was my first big band arrangement so the actual score is pretty simply. Melody-solo section-melody/ending. If there was only solo the song would probably only be 50 seconds to a minute. Fun trivia...last year a British burlesque dancer used my song in her Sonic themed dance. Look up " sonic burlesque" on youtube.
DarkSim
Wow, this is impressive work! Not just the sound, but the fact you managed to get all these people to play it! I'd definitely quite like more variation in percussion and beat (seeing as it's not a real drummer, you could easily improve this by changing up the drums - some samples are almost indistinguishable from the real thing anyway), and maybe a little more elaboration on the solos, but you've got the mood down a treat. Great job on this one, any chance you'll redo it?
mrtrent
Thanks for the kind words! I can't speak for the band myself, but last word I got from them, they did want to do another recording of it, without a scat solo. I myself do not have any local bands to record my arrangements with, so I have to rely on whatever bands are out there somewhere that I send my arrangements to. Gario
... damn you Soundcloud and your lack of downloading ability. This is awesome. The scat solo is quiet, but otherwise the entire track is very impressive. If you do a re-record of it I'd recommend making it a little longer, since the 2 minute mark is just a little short. Just saying.
mrtrent
I'll let the band know that! And I'll try to write out some bars that are written other than what was originally in the game. What is a good place to upload mp3s so you guys can download, that won't charge me?
Gario
I personally use www.box.net, but there are other places like Tindeck and Fireslash's WIP uploader that I've seen used around here.
