avaris Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Evrything needs Kontact, it's very sad. Free Kontakt Player? Unless you use Reason exclusively, then you're kinda screwed.
Frederic Petitpas Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I use Reaper too but I've not yet purchsed Kontakt, which is often required (Full) for some of those libs. Haven't grab the free player tho, is it worht it ? I basically want an orchestral librairy and a good synth for when I don't feel like ReWiring Reason... I'm not sure if Kontakt is what I need.

I suggest you grab kontakt during a sale, because a large portion of impact soundworks' [and many other sample bundle producers'] stuff needs the full version (thanks to the "demo mode" in the kontakt player). or, you know, warez versions work too. Not advised obviously, but hey, it's technically an option Also, this is another awesome deal that I'd love to pounce on if I had the money. Unfortunately I don't know if my paycheck will arrive in time
Meteo Xavier Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Does ANYTHING run on the Free Kontakt player anymore? I can't remember the last time I saw a professional sample set that didn't say "FULL VERSION OF KONTAKT ONLY".
timaeus222 Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Shreddage II can be used in Kontakt Player 5.3. That's uh, one. Juggernaut: Kontakt Player 5.1 --- two. Archtop: Hollowbody Guitar - Kontakt Player 5.3 --- three. So ISW has three out of all the libraries in the world, at least.
Anorax Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Does ANYTHING run on the Free Kontakt player anymore? I can't remember the last time I saw a professional sample set that didn't say "FULL VERSION OF KONTAKT ONLY". I think that anything that can be imported as a kontakt library in the library tab can be played in the kontakt player. Otherwise you need the full version.
Esperado Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 45% off "Plectra Series" world instruments bundle for Kontakt by Impact Soundworks. Normally $109, now only $59! www.vstbuzz.com I have the money but like anorax stated, you need the paid version of kontakt still would be worth the buy even if you had to wait though
theshaggyfreak Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Does ANYTHING run on the Free Kontakt player anymore? I can't remember the last time I saw a professional sample set that didn't say "FULL VERSION OF KONTAKT ONLY". It's kind of expensive for small developers to do it since they have to shell out a good deal of cash to Native Instruments to do this. That's why you don't see it very often. They figure that most composers have already purchased Kontakt already since it's kind of an industry standard.
Frederic Petitpas Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I'd have grabbed that Celestia ISW lib but, you know what I need. So how am I supposed to expect for a price when on sale ?
Anorax Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I'd have grabbed that Celestia ISW lib but, you know what I need. So how am I supposed to expect for a price when on sale ? Unfortunately I can't answer that question as I myself don't know, but you can always shoot for a black friday half-off sale or something. I guess the only thing I could do is sign up for their email newsletters and be informed that way because, again, I don't know. someday, kontakt... someday...
theshaggyfreak Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 NI usually has a big sale about every 6 months. So, you just have to keep an eye on their website.
Nase Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Does ANYTHING run on the Free Kontakt player anymore? I can't remember the last time I saw a professional sample set that didn't say "FULL VERSION OF KONTAKT ONLY". There's a list on the NI site, good number of libs actually. Was surprised myself. But it's not worth the licensing fees when you're releasing a smaller specialised low cost lib i'm sure.
Nabeel Ansari Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) Does ANYTHING run on the Free Kontakt player anymore? I can't remember the last time I saw a professional sample set that didn't say "FULL VERSION OF KONTAKT ONLY". Check the cost of the library itself. If it's anywhere under $150, you're not likely to see Kontakt player support. By the way, guys, I highly recommend buying Kontakt at the black friday 50% off sale for two pretty good reasons: 1. You get Kontakt for $200. That other $200 can go to your favorite non-licensed libraries. 2. If you buy Kontakt for $200, you can also buy the half-off crossgrade to Komplete during the summer for $200. That's the latest Komplete for $400, about $100 off of Komplete full price through some clever use of patience. Edited April 3, 2014 by Neblix
Frederic Petitpas Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Wait, you get Kontakt when you buy Komplete anyway, so it'll be 250$ for everything isntead of 200$ + 200$. Right ?
Nabeel Ansari Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Wait, you get Kontakt when you buy Komplete anyway, so it'll be 250$ for everything isntead of 200$ + 200$. Right ? You can't buy Komplete for $250. You can only crossgrade, which is $200 during the half-off upgrade/crossgrade summer sale.
Anorax Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Wait, you get Kontakt when you buy Komplete anyway, so it'll be 250$ for everything isntead of 200$ + 200$. Right ? gotta have kontakt first before you can get the crossgrade to Komplete. Basically you're buying Komplete for the price of Kontakt over the course of six months
Frederic Petitpas Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 No, I mean, Kontakt is included in Komplete, which is 500$. So during black friday, it'S 250$ and you get Komplete with Kontakt included - from what I can tell from the website.

Anorax Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 (edited) My wallet is now empty, and I now own a copy of the Plectra bundle. Let's send this baby for a spin... Edited April 7, 2014 by Anorax
avaris Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) Again, you can not buy Komplete for $250. They don't discount Komplete, ever. Incorrect. I bought Komplete 3 on a sale. No cross grade or nothing. Also in 2012: http://www.sonicstate.com/amped/2012/11/23/native-instruments-thanksgiving-sale/ It happens but rarely. Best best, as afore mentioned, is to snag one of the products on a sale that allows for the cross grade to Komplete. Edited April 8, 2014 by avaris spelling

avaris Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Oops my bad read it wrong. Regardless it does happen but rarely. NI also normally offers great sales right before they drop a new version of Komplete.
Frederic Petitpas Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Is this 99$ thign a good deal ? http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/totalworkstationxl/ I don't understand why they sell 500$ worth of stuff for 100$ when Miroslav alone is still 150$ on hteir website. It's it's legit, I'll buy it right now.
Anorax Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Well I see no reason for it to not be true. It could be a ridiculous bundle-only promo deal. I'd be wary, but I [personally] see no reason to doubt its authenticity.
