This is the first time in a while I've actually gotten into something electronic, so I'm pretty pumped. I hope I can keep this up. I'm trying something pretty far out of my comfort zone for this one

Wow, a DrumUltimA mix with no posts? I'm surprised 8-O. That said, the piano at the beginning is pretty nice, but when the strings kick in it really picks up. The drum loop that follows really adds intensity to the mix. The high resonant synths are cool, but get a little bit boring after awhile(I think that may be why they were dropped out). I like the bass hits throughout. This has a nice sense of dynamics and motion, and I definitely like the progressive nature of it.

It feels a little bit right heavy at the beginning, though you do fix it, and as I've said before, the high resonance synths are a cool idea, but they're pretty quiet and they either get dropped or drowned out. A great start, especially for being outside of your comfort zone! I like the direction it's going in, too, and I can't wait for the finished version.

Dayuuummmm. I like this a lot. No critiques, it sounds fantastic. Very dramatic and almost cinematic. Finish this!

Ok, maybe one critique. I second eilios that the sine synth is a really cool addition but it would be even better if it was a little bit more prominent at times, perhaps interjecting just to play a few harmonizing notes here and there.

Thanks guys! I haven't played around with that synth enough... I'll have to mess around with it more.

Anyway, a bit of an update... this is really my first solid attempt at slicing and stuff. Honestly, I'm cheating with the drums--just doing it in midi. Anybody have any good tips/tools/tutorials on slicing?

i don't have a whole hell of a lot to say about this, but i just wanted to join in saying that this is sounding great so far. i really dig the mood and direction you're taking it, and a lot of the detail work is really nice. i'm looking forward to hearing where this goes.

Slicing meaning what? Using MIDI isn't really cheating.... that is unless you're clicking in the notes with a mouse or using loops, but even then, a finished product is just that. I play out individual parts (I guess you can call those slices) with a MIDI keyboard so I can EQ them all separately.

Slicing meaning that beat stuttering he does later on. Those are "sliced" on the playlist, thus, "slicing".
