OceansAndrew
Hey there! Some time ago I did a remix of a Final Fantasy X track I really love. Finally I decided to send it to ocremix because I'm really interested in the feedback of other people. So first of all the link to download my remix: and now the additional stuff: Contact Information: - My ReMixer name: The Griever - My website(s): http://soundcloud.com/indulin http://www.facebook.com/pages/Indulin/172076399472392 http://www.swishco.co.uk/artist.php?id=102 http://www.myspace.com/indulin (pretty obsolete now) - My userid on your forums: 45573 Submission Information: - Name of game(s) arranged: Final Fantasy X - Name of arrangement: Battle In The Far North - Name of individual song(s) arranged: People Of The Far North / People of the North Pole The game's already on your site so I think I don't have to link to the soundtrack or mention the composer(s)! I chose this track because it's really one of my all time favourites, the lovely melodies get me every time I listen to it. I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy and it's music. My idea was to turn this rather calm tune into a kind of battle theme, in fact my remix is telling a whole story! It's about two men, formerly been best friends, fighting on the snowy top of a mountain. It's stormy and you can hear the scream of an eagle watching the showdown. They talk to each other about the past, then they pull out their swords and with the beating of the drum at about 1:10 the battle begins! Both of them are very good swordsmen. At 2:06 they interrupt the exhausting fight for a while and talk again. The melody changes, the clock begins ticking and the rivals realise that only one of them will survive. They're tired now, but force themselves to fight further, at about 3:02 the battle continues! Then, suddenly, with an unexpected move, one of them manages to kill the other at about 3:58. The melody starting at about 4:16 expresses the "winner's" sadness. His best friend from back in the days is now gone forever... Hope you enjoy my remix and I'm curious what your decision will be like! Best regards Victor
OceansAndrew
Definitely an expanded take on the source, but still keeping the same spirit, this features a lot of subtle differences, mostly by bringing the chords and atmosphere forward and diminishing the melody. The sfx were generally tasteful, and the additional rhythms and countermelodies were pretty strong. Though the melody is gone for a lot of this, the rest of the track is very aparent, and though the second hawk cry was a bit much, and I'd prefer more melodic sections, this was well put together with good production, pretty nice sequencing, and an overall classy presentation. DragonAvenger
I like the story idea you're presenting with this, although it feels like some of the areas are a bit sparsely arranged overall. I'd have liked those areas to have more backing pads rather than just the strings playing, where they are more exposed and a bit mechanical sounding at that point. I agree that the lack of the melody, while not my favorite, doesn't really detract much from the mix due to the fact that the background parts are so iconic on their own as well. Overall the track is pretty solid, and a fun listen. YES
DarkeSword
Strings get pretty mechanical, especially the high marcato stuff; not terrible, just noting it. Overall though nice arrangement. Nice development throughout; I particularly like the percussion around the second half and the string embellishments. Very nice atmosphere. halc
those main string stabs were really mechanical, playing that same rhythm and articulation over and over. elsewise, a lot of stuff still sounded kinda mechanical, but the soundscape had a nice cohesion and flow to it. nothing mind-blowing, but the mix overall was pretty well presented.
