Fernito
Dear people, Please I need you to help me finding metal bands that use no (or very little) compression. Thanks in advance!
Brandon Strader
Compression can be super transparent in metal. So it can be hard to say. But I'd say Necrophagist's Epitaph album.. methinks.
Fernito
Hey Brandon! Thanks, I'll check out that album.
Omni-Psyence
Try some thrash metal from the 80's like Dark Angel, Overkill or Kreator.

Cyril the Wolf
Pain of Salvation is pretty transparent in their use of compression. and I <3 them
Fernito
Thanks for the recommendations. All this comes because I'm having this discussion with a friend. He says metal can't sound "heavy" without compression, and I'm trying to prove he's wrong.
Brandon Strader
Pain of Salvation isn't metal. Their latest stuff is also really dirty :
Cyril the Wolf
Pain of Salvation isn't metal. Their latest stuff is also really dirty :3 They are metal, and I am going by their older stuff. (lets not get into a stupid argument of what is metal and what isn't PLEASE)
Necrotic
Decapitated - A Poem About an Old Prison Man Psycroptic - (Ob)Servant These are some that jump to mind that don't strike me as being terribly compressed but still sounding heavy. I think the main thing that I can agree with your friend about though is tonally none of this is as heavy as something heavily compressed and rhythmic like Meshuggah or Gojira would sound whereas the above bands are more "brutal" than "heavy". Omega
Sentenced Children of Bodom (try the older albums first, such as Lake Bodom, Follow the Reaper and Hate Crew Deathroll) Mygrain Ethernal Tears of Sorrow Daath Inflames (newer stuff is a bit mallcore, but some people like it) Wintersun Moonsorrow Amon Amarth Pay in mind that I'm just throwing these names at random. I have no I idea whether you actually like these bands or not. Some of them are very different from others. It's just a list that you might find handy if you're looking for metal bands. Nekofrog
None of my stuff has any compression on it (except for Jenova).
Fernito
Thanks guys. As I said earlier, I need to show a friend that metal must not necessarity have compression on it in order to sound good, so these tracks will do just fine @Nekofrog: nice, I'll be checking out your stuff too.
