Liontamer
Game's only been out for a few months (in Japan), and less than a month here, so there's no way I could find a source. Don't really need it though. Basic construction here. The production's not bad, but the overall execution here is still fairly vanilla. The groove just repeats ad nauseum. Some additional strings come in and out of the piece to provide some lush stuff, but overall there wasn't really much going on here. All of the strings and synth work placed on top of the groove at various times should have been more prominent in the foreground. 1:27, the halfway point, literally was a rinse and repeat. A 30 second fadeout when you're just repeating the same stuff over and over again? Take it off cruise control next time, partner. NO
JJT
LT pretty much covered it. fadeout endings are usually frowned upon, especially when your mix is only 2:50. production is fine. arrangement is not. this sounds like background music, the kind that dialogue is placed over. give us more. zircon
Yeah, the synths and samples here definitely aren't all that bad in and of themselves, we've accepted stuff with lesser production values. However, the arrangement is exceedingly simple. By :41 it's already going back to a repetition with no big changes. It seems like there wasn't a lot of source material to go with as it's more or less repeating a lot of the same motifs. 1:12 introduced a nice harmony pattern; do more of that stuff, it keeps it interesting. At 1:27 though we're back to that same pattern again and it's not getting changed up. More repetition after that and then a fade out. You see the common theme here, right? Need more variation, less repetition, or if you're going to repeat, at least change the layering so that the texture of the song gets denser. Your samples/synths are not bad so just put them to good use and you'll be OK. NO
