Boogie Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Inspired by Joe Satriani's "The Forgotten part 1" and "midnight" I decided to cover Kraid's Lair using the famous tapping technique. I hope you like it. If you like my work please, comment, share and subscribe =D MrKyle, Hipnotyk, Phonetic Hero and 1 other 4 Quote
Eino Keskitalo Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I love touch guitar, especially Chapman Stick and Warr guitars, so the title was an immediate sell for me. Kraid's Lair is a great theme to dabble around with guitar & it never has occurred to me how well it fits for touch style.. and it indeed sounds very natural. Nice playing! The ending leaves me desiring for more - I can easily envision a powerful band arrangement starting from there. Very nice stuff! Quote
MrKyle Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Very cool idea. My mind immediately went to counterpoint melodies being tapped, multiple panning automations, some kind of singular timpani/kick blend that hits occasionally...for emphasis Awesome man. You should develop this. Quote
Boogie Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 Thank you Geoffrey (n.n) / evktalo: thanks dude. I knew I had to cover the song like this when I listened to the chorus carefully. then I thought; ohh that sounds like something that could be done with the tapping technique. The song was kind of easy do adapt to this style like if it was meant to be played like that, I don't know the adaptation process flowed really well... MrKyle: Thanks n.n. jeje yea you're right I mean there are many ways to do it as complex as you want I kept it simple. well there's some counterpoint at the end jeje Quote
Light_of_Aether Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Wow! I really like this! I agree with evktalo. The ending as it stands now would work excellently with a rock band arrangement. Quote
Boogie Posted June 28, 2015 Author Posted June 28, 2015 Yep that's a good idea. One of my main goals is to play all my videogame covers Live. If I ever achieve that goal I will put that idea into practice. I will play this as a prelude to create anticipation then I will play the Metroid main theme in rock =D glad you liked it Light of aether... Quote
