AngelCityOutlaw
So I can't recall a thread around here about orchestral music with a cinematic edge. Like trailer music composers and the like. I thought we should have a thread to discuss "epic" kinds of orchestral music and orchestral hybrids, specifically focusing on under-rated composers. We've all heard Two Steps From Hell and Audiomachine in a million commercials and trailers, but there are a lot more people out there making music like this and I'd argue doing it better. I've been addicted to Ivan Torrent's music since I first discovered it about a year ago. I can't say I've heard his music in any trailers, but I do know he's done a number of sample library demos. Well, who and what do you have to share? Any composers who you really think stand out from the rest in this genre?
timaeus222
For sure! I really like Maxim Zhdanov's apocalyptic cinematic music. These are some of my favorite tracks from him: https://soundcloud.com/apeocalypsemusic/musterion https://soundcloud.com/apeocalypsemusic/xaoc https://soundcloud.com/apeocalypsemusic/equilibrium And Stephen Anderson writes some pretty crazy/emotional stuff, ranging from spirituals to LoTR-like film scores to huge dubstep. The first one below is probably my favorite, but the third one down is a close second. https://soundcloud.com/stephen-anderson/turn-my-crimson-into-white https://soundcloud.com/stephen-anderson/sephiroths-violin-01-liberi-fatali https://soundcloud.com/stephen-anderson/i-am-the-sentinel-credits
CelestialSonata
Sephiroth's Violin is very well done. Sounds like he used samples from the original track. I'm curious if the violins were recorded or from a plugin.
timaeus222
The solo violin was Lindsey Stirling.
