Hi everyone,

I haven't been here for a while. I only recently found out about DJ Redlight (Ashley Carr) passing away in 2016. Some people might remember his remixes on here and his original music and have a special place in their memories for him.

Ashley lived in Perth, Western Australia, which also happens to be where I live. So I took a trip today to the Memorial Park where he is buried and photographed his memorial plaque. I played some of his music at the site as well and sat with him for a bit.

If you aren't familiar with Ashley or his music, I recommend visiting his website https://www.djredlight.com and OC ReMix profile https://ocremix.org/artist/4593/dj-redlight and having a listen. He was a talented artist and it really sucks that he died so young.

If anyone would like to see his final resting spot, his profile is here along with the photograph I took.

Rest in Peace, Ashley Carr.

I have only just created a new account after being away from OCR for about 13-14 years, and this is the first topic I see.

Heartbreaking...

I remember his debut on the site with The Calling, and I was instantly a fan.

Really appreciate you posting this.

I came here by strange means. I'd never played Final Doom's "TNT: Evilution" episode but I have been listening to some of Ashley's Final Doom remixes for a long time. I was playing a fan made Doom .wad recently that used the track "Legion of the Lost" and it instantly sounded familiar. I couldn't place it - my mind went to Golden Sun and then Xenogears, but I couldn't find the match. Eventually I pulled apart the .wad file and found it was sourced from Final Doom and then the connection was made - I had first heard the track as an OC Remix.

That remix was "Memoriam". The comments section there led me to Ashley's website, where the most recent post from 2020 talked of his passing. Incredibly sad to hear this as I really enjoyed his work.

I know this post is old but thanks for sharing your visit.
