Double Dragon remake music from amstrad cpc 6128 version

Recommended Posts

There's a lot of reverb here on the orchestral elements. Not a whole lot of dynamics either. Feels like the energy of this track stays pretty level all throughout. Hearing a lot of elements play in unison (synth stabs plus strings) which makes things uninteresting from a partwriting persepective. This could do with some countermelodies or something to keep things fresh as the piece progresses. I don't feel like there's any storytelling here; feels like a sound upgrade but the whole soundscape feels messy.

Hello, and welcome to the forums.

There are some textural changes as you go through the piece that help to keep the piece from being just a sound upgrade.  However the dynamics do stay relatively flat throughout the piece, and the lack of humanization is very apparent as well.  There is no expression, give us phrasing or dynamics to help the piece move forward.

The kick drum that comes in at ~1:51 and 3:46 is very quite and lacks the punch it needs for adding a new instrument.  Definitely something you want to increase if you want it to make an impact.

Welcome to the forums, tolliscpc! I'll ditto the points from Hemo and DS. As is, the arrangement's lack of dynamic contrast and sluggish changes make it a difficult listen. The kick drum will be more impactful with more gain as well as compression -- it lacks the punch necessary to drive the piece with the writing you've given it.
