linkspast Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 So I know laptops usually run a bit hotter than a desktop, but Mine seams a little hotter than it should be. I was wondering if there was some free software on the net. And If there is a way to lower the temp? Quote
Broken Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I'm sure PCworld.com can direct you to some PC monitoring utilities. If your laptop seems to be overheating, elevate it with a small book or log if you have to. Just make sure the fans have plenty of room to circulate air. Quote
Dhsu Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 You might try underclocking your CPU if your BIOS has that option. Otherwise, if it's not causing problems (e.g. beeping, hang-ups, freezing, blue screens), I wouldn't worry about it. Quote
Pyrion Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Only way to lower the temp on a laptop is to keep the fans clean (take the bottom panel off and spray the fan out). Otherwise if it isn't locking up, don't worry about it. Laptops these days are more accurately called "notebooks" because you're insane if you put a modern-day laptop on your lap. Quote
Effef Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 Speedfan works good for monitoring temps. http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php Other than that, just make sure nothing is clogged. Quote
