Really going all out with the sampling here... WIP arrangement but I feel the building blocks are here. Not sure how I can expound on this. Just a funky groove for a koopa who's got attitude.

The original "main" chord is built in perfect fourths in ascending order. However, a small difference I made is to change the first interval into a tritone... this adds the classic dissonance from what you would expect of the boom bap era. It ends up changing the context of the extensions from regular old 11ths (and a more open sound) to a dominant #9 sound. Small change but great for the style. Bassline is changed from the original rhythm, it's just a pedal though so really not a big deal.

I really like the heavy lean on audio samples than my previous stuff, it certainly sounds clean and more what you might expect for the style... I can picture Biggie rapping on this.

i guess since you're asking for feedback, I think the biggest thing I'd say is I think this track would benefit a *lot* from the lead samples/synths being a little more clean/less FX. No idea if you plan to try and get this posted on OCR, but especially if you have rap behind it, you're going to want the source to be heard as much as possible (without ruining the vibe)

Good stuff.

Thanks, the main FX I have on this are delay, reverb, and sidechain. Sidechain especially on the bass. Delay on most of the samples except for bass, drums, and vibraphone. You think less delay, sidechain, both?

FX on the drums I can’t do much about unfortunately since they are not dry stems.
