Ridiculously Garrett Posted August 16 Posted August 16 (edited) Valley of Bowser 2025-08-18 2254.mp3 Really going all out with the sampling here... WIP arrangement but I feel the building blocks are here. Not sure how I can expound on this. Just a funky groove for a koopa who's got attitude. The original "main" chord is built in fourths. Bassline is changed from the original rhythm, it's just a pedal though so really not a big deal. I really like the heavy lean on audio samples than my previous stuff, it certainly sounds clean and more what you might expect for the style... I can picture Biggie rapping on this. EDIT: You know I thought I remembered it right... ignore what I said about the chords (being open fourths). It sounds to me after listening again to the source that the original is the dominant #9 sound... the open 4ths I got was from watching some synthesia tutorials online, but they got it wrong. The original intervals definitely include the major 3rd, dominant 7, and #9. Original progression = | E7#9 | E7#9 | F7#9/E | F7#9/E | Source: Edited Tuesday at 02:56 AM by Ridiculously Garrett Quote
Thirdkoopa Posted Monday at 03:08 AM Posted Monday at 03:08 AM i guess since you're asking for feedback, I think the biggest thing I'd say is I think this track would benefit a *lot* from the lead samples/synths being a little more clean/less FX. No idea if you plan to try and get this posted on OCR, but especially if you have rap behind it, you're going to want the source to be heard as much as possible (without ruining the vibe) Good stuff. Thanks, the main FX I have on this are delay, reverb, and sidechain. Sidechain especially on the bass. Delay on most of the samples except for bass, drums, and vibraphone. You think less delay, sidechain, both? FX on the drums I can’t do much about unfortunately since they are not dry stems. Quote
Audiomancer Posted Monday at 11:15 PM Posted Monday at 11:15 PM I'll try to listen again at home, won't let me play your file out and about, even though YouTube link played. If your drums aren't dry, that might affect your sidechains. Just posting this so I remember:) Quote

I don't have any plans to add rap to this because I don't think anyone wants to hear my attempt at rapping lol... unless anyone wanted to collaborate this will just be instrumental.
