Your Turrican II mix was excellent, but this was definitely a step down. I heard some decent enough expansive ideas, IMO. Whether they were enough in lieu of the conservative melodic treatment was debatable, with me leaning towards no. Production-wise though, the sounds were pretty low-quality. Everything sounded extra flimsy and mechanical. Perhaps this was specifically meant to sound like an upgraded version for a next-gen Commodore computer, but that doesn't mean the sounds are good enough to get posted. When you have something more polished like your previous submission, send it on over. NO

DarkeSword
Thanks. Gotta agree with Larry on this one. Sounds a lot like an upgrade, and the soundscape feels sparse and lofi. The percussion particularly sounds like it's stuck in a small room; it doesn't integrate well with the rest of the synth-laden mix. I realize you're going for that synth-rock sound, but it comes off sounding weak. There is a nice groove to the track, with good part-writing though. It's not like a rip or anything. Still, NO for now.
JJT
am i the only one not hearing enough low end? this is especially true at the beginning. the textures here just don't work for me, the drums being especially problematic. that snare doesn't fit into the soundfield at all. segments of the arrangement (for example, :25-:55 and 3:50-4:10) are really distracting on the production end. having the snare hard panned to the left like that doesn't make any sense to me. also, the different elements aren't processed so that they integrate well with each other. for more ethereal segments (example, 4:12-4:50) the panning/production works. in the straight-ahead rock sections, however, its a no-go. as darke and larry have said, there are some great ideas, and your part writing is good. i'd like to see a resubmit on this, if you're up for it.
