  1. Such an interesting approach to a song, with the vocal reflections cutting in along with the music like an introspective track. Synth and sax with some rocking electric bits made for a unique combination that I liked quite a bit. Smooth, but with some good energy to keep it going. Not bad.

  2. eh, almost nobody here will need to use surround formats. Those tips are good, I'll keep doing things with the traditional tools for width (hard-panning, chorus, reverb, ping pong delays, synth unison/double-tracking). I think the overlooked thing here is that if you want a wide mix, you then need a huge contrast between the center things and the wide elements. The biggest killer of that is usually reverb, so here's a tip to combat reverb making your mixes less stereo: Dual-Mono Reverbs, or simply separating the two Left & Right channels and putting the same reverb on them, is a technique that will preserve the position of your panned elements exactly where they are. No more 'stereo image blur' with that.

  3. Jorito mentioned Giorgio by Moroder, and this song reminded me of Giorgio by Moroder right away. Shovel Knight's monologue through-out only strengthened that feeling. Giorgio by Moroder is one of my favourite songs on Random Access Memories, and by Daft Punk in general, so a song that captures a similar feeling to it is definitely going to be a hit with me. The fact that it's an arrangement of a song from Shovel Knight is just a bonus on an already great arrangement.
