  1. Ah, so there is. And yeah, I wound up with two good traveling companions on a JK run last night, though I didn't think to friend them. It's really frustrating how more than half of the runs I've done through that end with everyone else bailing right before the actual JK fight. I'm not quite able to handle soloing him yet, so that usually means I'm stuck going back to the surface too.
  2. While I'm thinking of it, has there been any interest in creating an OCR guild? I don't post much here outside of the TF2 thread, but it'd be cool to have a way to do runs with non-random people.
  3. I royally suck at it from the few times I've tried it, but it's fun anyway.
  4. That's the crux of my argument too, and it's something that the Valve post doesn't address. The part pertaining to teleporters was written solely from the perspective of an attacking team on a payload/push map, which ignores the fact there are many situations where a teleporter does little to no good.
  5. I know what they said, but that doesn't mean I agree with it.
  6. The argument argument removing Dispensers is obvious, but I don't see the corresponding argument for Teleporters in the same light. Sure, there are larger maps where not having them utterly cripples your team's attack, but then there are others, including entire game modes, where teles do little to nothing. There's essentially no need for them on a KOTH or Arena map, and they're often largely useless on CTF. When you're defending the last point of a Payload or push-CP map, they won't do much good, since you're spawning right next to those points anyway. They're useful on 5-point CP, but if a point or two keep trading back and forth, an Engy can be hard-pressed to get them set up in the proper places quickly enough for them to make a difference. I'd say they're only truly indispensable on pure attack and while defending forward points. It'd be up to individual Engies in those situations to play smart and set their loadouts accordingly. ...not that your average random pub player is known for playing smart, but oh well.
  7. Frogg would sense it coming and slaughter it.
  8. Oh God. One thing I mentioned in-game a few nights ago was an idea for an Engy "repair beam," something that could heal buildings at a Medigun-type distance without having to run over and whack 'em. It'd probably work as a pistol replacement, but I have no idea what it'd look like.
  9. I installed the game just for the sake of getting a TF2 hat, but I think I've become semi-addicted to it. There's something almost relaxing about running around mindlessly bashing things with a sword. And I kind of like the fact that the energy system puts a hard cap on how long you can play a day, since that means I won't get sucked into a few hours' worth of it.
  10. I'm starting to wonder if Valve decided to release an obviously-overpowered new weapon just to do some statistical analysis on how quickly the whining about it commenced. It's for science!
  11. WETA does steampunk. In my TF2. Hell yes.
  12. Yeah, the same guy had stuff like the rocket launcher and knife going for a Refined or two each.
  13. No idea about that one. And it turns out not every Strange weapon is going for an arm and a leg at the moment. I ran into a guy on a trade server who was selling Strange unlockables (i.e. non-stock items) for a Reclaimed each, so I picked up the Flare Gun, Sandman, and Eyelander for a Refined total. He had a few more, but they weren't things I used all that often. I also grabbed a few more Uber Update weapons I didn't have yet, so it was a productive night.
  14. I think you flat-out broke the game there. (Because of drop, I can has Brigade Helm nao. Yay!)
  15. Wooo TF2 birthday mode! (Man, Brushfire's only a few weeks older than me? Crazy.)
  16. New update today, with a bunch of summer stuff. The key for opening Summer Cooler crates was added to the store, too. There's also a new achievement that gives you a ticket for the Summer Camp game. And man, where did this come from? Not quite Teddy Roosebelt, but still awesome.
  17. Well someone's a killjoy. (I'm finally in the middle of playing through co-op for the first time myself.)
  18. I just want the TF2 and Portal 2 stuff by default, since those are the only two games from that list I own. Hopefully I can manage to scrounge up six tickets before the promo is done.
  19. Steam Summer Sale is here, along with a brand-new meta-game that can earn you free stuff. Shiiiiit, my wallet.
  20. It may be a bummer for spies, but I find it completely raeg-inducing when I'm backstabbed on a server without grave-talk and have to sit there and fume while said Spy wreaks havoc on half of my team.
  21. To be fair, it can take a long time for some classes to garner enough Achievements to reach the milestones. I think I only got the third one for Medic after several months of active playing.
  22. The king is dead, long live the king? (I am going to strangle this game...I can't get anyone else to see my created server for the life of me, even after I've forwarded the proper ports to my router.)
  23. Ugh...I set up my youngest brother with a Steam account and downloaded TF2 for him, since I wanted him to give it a try. He made it through the tutorials just fine, but when it came to actually getting in-game together to show him the ropes, I had nothing but frustration. I tried hosting a game myself, but I guess I've never forwarded the proper ports through my router, since my other brother (who also has a full paid copy) wasn't able to join it. Then I got my youngest brother in a random empty public server, but for some bizarre reason, I couldn't find the server he was in. I'd just friend him, but that wasn't even working either...he just has a limited account, so he can't friend me, and I can't find his profile, even though I have it set to public. Raaaaaaaeg.
  24. I did wind up getting my three Reclaimed, so crafting ahoy. Man I made a fantastic decision to craft away the three spare L'etrangers I had drop over the past two weeks. There were pretty much only two recipes that I had the proper weapon ingredients for.
  25. Yeah, hopefully. Oh hey, Meet the Medic is now on Steam too.
