  1. Umm...did you guys even read the post? I said that I have high respect for the judges and thank you for the awesome review. Read before you jump.
  2. And I will say, that now, I have a higher respect for the judges here. Thank you for making me a little bit better guys . Though since my submission looks like a highly anticipated resub across the board, I guess I'm not far from perfection as far as my mixing ear goes. Granted, I did fail to mention that during the mix, I was doing it across a dieing master left channel on my out bus, a problem that I thought could have been remedied through a disparity pan on my daw to balance out what's coming through my monitors, and then on bounce, centering the master pan back again (one reason why I said I questioned the translation). This however I found out later during a mix session with another project was not the case. The translated mix onto CD afterwords came out so bassed out and so life less, it made me look like an armature! What saved my butt then though was that I happened to have an M-box 2 lying around and just used that for mixing instead. While it cant handle a big a load like my Onyx, it certainly saved me since I needed 2 mixes done with somewhat home mastering applied in 2 days.....not fun.... lol. Anyway, just wanted to say that I really respect the review and I'm begining to think that I should concentrate a bit more on doing some remixes here considering that the insight of the judges here are imo reputable. Thanks guys! Rejected mix: Burning Star
  3. and made some tracks specifically for it. Check it out guys whenever you get the chance: http://www.myspace.com/keyjizat
  4. Holly crap, First I didn't know how the mix was gona be when it first started since the piano itself is a little ...:/ but whoa when the meat of the track came in, I was like damn great job on that one. Anyway back to the piano, I think that could have changed. It sounds too programed and if you aren't a player, I'd add in some volume dynamics and maybe some note delay cause right now it sounds too precise. Cant say that I adore the Lead synth too much. It'd be great to add something behind it to support the rest of the song like some ambient synth, strigns or something cause right now it just sounds too in your face. No ending?!? If that was it, it was a very uninteresting way of ending it lol. On the cut section, high pitched synths on an arrpegiator would sound nice panning back and fourth to give that blank some character. Overall, you have a great sound. I'd like to know how you got such a big sound pre master lol what compressors you usin lol. Great job Be sure to check out my new WIP as well: http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=14294 l8r
  5. OK, I checked out your track. Very well instrumented I must say. Intro kind of threw me for a loop though with the missing notes in the motif but hey you pulled it. The arrangement is great imo. I'm no expert in foreign percussion so I wont be much help there so I will say some choice in percussion was better than others. Implementing your own section would have been nice as well in some areas instead of the same sections over and over again and though you remedy the repetitiveness of the track with alternate instruments, I just think some sort of change that we're all not used to hearing would have been great. Overall, great track, great mix as far as I can tell, work it out and u have a killer track sir . Be sure to check my new WIP as well: http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=14294 l8r
  6. Overall: OK so I checked out the track. Before I dissect it a bit more, overall, I think some bass lines would help it alot imo using the lead guitar to follow for some nice creative solos. Hate to say it, but those guitars sound terrible. Very synthetic sounding with no dynamic nature at all. I'd look around for some other patches if all possible. There also seemed to be a few timing problems in some areas as well. Dont care too much for the drums but for the style it was written, they work so I guess I cant say too much about them. In some cases also the acoustic guitar chords also seem a bit much (but this also may just be because of the patch) and could probably be remedied by simple arpeggios painting the chord instead of the actual chord itself. Dissect: 0:00 - 0:23: Ok I like the organ. The way the crashes are hitting seems a bit unrealistic, though I could be wrong. Instead, I think he'd actually fill it with a crescendo rather than strait hits. The kick and snare came in a little odd as well. I'd add a lick here giving you the opportunity to incorporate some toms. The synths came in nice, however towards the end of the phrase the dissonance chord at the end seems very awkward and with out anything else supporting it gives me a "WTF" feeling rather than a o"hh yeah chill up my spine feeling". Things that could support it, SFX like a riser or something eery that cuts off on the next phrase which you could add in a break before coming back into the next phrase giving you a big explosion. 0:23 - 0:34: See you did what I was thinking. Adding more before this part would have added a bit more significance to this part though. 0:34 - 1:30: Ok I hear a few rhythm problems both with the drums and the guitar line before the start of each phrase. I also think more needs to go in here (remember the bass I talked about) and more synths or SFX or something. It just sounds to empty realy. 1:30 - 2:10: Here's where I don't like the acoustic guitar. If it were better patches I can see it probably blending here, but what would also work is just plain taking out the drums and snare and having the guitars work it out with like I said arpeggios, outlining the chord or something. 2:09 - 2:10 the voicing doesn't sound right. 2:10 - 2:40: Sounds like a rhythm problem and a guitar note clash. Now it was nice when you went lower on the power chords on that part. Gave it a bit more feeling. 2:40 - out: Same thing. Final Though: I think it's a nice concept. I'm not a fan but it's still a nice production. Work at it some more, fix the ends a little and I think It's come out nice. Review my WIP's here: http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=14294 Take Care
  7. Hey Everyone! Been away from this place for a long time and funny enough, what reminded me to come back was some mixes I put on my Zune heh. Anyway, I noticed the lack in mixes for the Ristar section and I decided to do some. One important note about both of them is that they are both NOT MIXED and there are a few things on the first track (Burning Star) that I have to remove but I'm just letting you listen to it anyway . Well with that, here we go. 1. The first track is based off Level 3 section 1 as Ristar lands on the hot fire planet. Here is the original track called "Busy Flare": http://208.53.158.138/soundtracks/ristar-the-shooting-star-genesis-rip-/vykjqzuhri/05-busy-flare.mp3 And here is the remix I call "Burning Star". I small note about this, I developed this track a little over a year ago but just never got the chance to mix and submit it. Hopefully this year (lol) I can. It was reviewed once but I'm just posting it again....ok enough talking here it is: http://media.putfile.com/Key-Jay---Burning-Star 2. The second track is based off Level 2 section 2 as Ristar dives deeper into the water planet. Here is the original track noted as "Break Silence": http://208.53.158.138/soundtracks/ristar-the-shooting-star-genesis-rip-/alrnhlcgyc/04-break-silence.mp3 And here my remix I call "Silent Splash". I little FYI, this is the newest between the two. I just finished writing this about 3hrs ago with a development time of about 2 days. The current mix is a little low in volume so you may need to tweak. Aside from the two, I always wanted to remix this one. I had the arrangement in my head for like ever! Always loved this track http://media.putfile.com/Key-Jay---Silent-Splash Hope you like em, hope I can mix em sooner of later, and have a nice day
  8. Hey thanx dude! Finally some recognition for once lol. BTW, all the music except the last track was done by me also .
  9. Check it out guys! Tell me what you think. http://media.putfile.com/Jamaal-Ephriams-Demo-Reel
  10. Interesting peice Check me out: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=11196
  11. Hey guys, Surprisingly enough, this isn't a music track but a voice acting track that was originally going to pose as my v.a. demo reel but it came out too long. So I just finished it cause I liked how it was turning out. Enjoy Music: Created by myself and at the very end is an excerpt from Lord of the Rings. To be honest, this is probably my first real attempt at scoring something. Great practice SFX: Hollywood Edge, Anonymous Websites, and a Halloween SFX Library. Voices: All Me! Download: Ohh yeah that is kind of important huh lol: http://media.putfile.com/Gate-of-Chaos-Hi-Res http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=audio&file=TheGateofChaos.mp3 Lower Bandwidth Version: http://media.putfile.com/The-Gate-of-Chaos http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=audio&file=LOfi.mp3
  12. Hey guys, I'm working on a few TV or Radio commercial samples. There not mixed yet so bare with me lol. Anyz, let me know what you think: 1. Dog Food or Natural Male Enhancement: http://media.putfile.com/Dog-Food--Natural-Male-Enhancement-Commercial 2. Scion (Car commercial for the vehicles listed here: http://scion.com): http://media.putfile.com/Scion-Commercial-Sample 3. [Adult Swim] or Hair Product (idk) (Was thinking about Adult Swim when I was creating it lol): http://media.putfile.com/Adult-Swim-Commercial-Sample 4. Vault Soda (Kicks like an energy drink!): http://media.putfile.com/Vualt-Energy-Drink-Commercial-Sample Hope you liked em. Hit me back!
  13. Hey Guys, I'm working on a music pack for the people at Garage Games and just got down a few sample fan fares done. They have been down sampled *nyuck nyuck nyuck* (just for the mere fact that this thing will be sold) and are not yet mixed. Check em out: 1. You Found a Big Treasure! http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=audio&file=FanFareSample1.mp3 2. A simple victory for you hero! http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=audio&file=FanFareSample2.mp3 3. You found a small treasure! http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=audio&file=FanFareSample3.mp3 4. Brutal Victory. Damn that was tough! http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=audio&file=FanFareSample4.mp3
  14. Hey guys, Glad you liked it. Malcos, if you're wondering what I used for that track alone, I used a combination of just the East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra along with the Bosendorfer 290 (I think) The solo Violin is from the Vienna pack. I dont know if you want hardware but I have more than that lol.
  15. It's nice. I question some of the chords though on some of the tracks. The mix sounds nice and full. I think that Hoax would have sounded nice with some Rhoads on some part IMO. Madcrash I'd ad a top string line. Still sticatto but like an octave above the root on some parts but not all. I like the pumping limiter you put on "My day needs a soundtrack" (dont we all ) I like your piano lines in this track. I'm not sure about that cello line at 2:06. Think a nice distort guitar accent with another instrument might have been better imo. Overall (listening to the others as I type), it's a decent album. If anything, I love how you mixed these. Curious to know your setup. Be sure to check me out as well sir: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=9734
  16. These were done with an RPG game in mind, no mixes yet. Forbidden Woods Part1: http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=audio&file=ForbiddenWoods.mp3 Forbidden Woods Part2 (you know like new zone section of something): http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=audio&file=Forbiden_Woods_pt2.wav.mp3
  17. thank you bunch guys Was looking forward to the comments here .
  18. Hey, First time back in a while. Never really finished the remix I was working on but I will eventually considering I need it for my upcoming website. Anywayz, I've begun some work for my web site of original game tracks. This here of course is a work in progress. No heavy mixing has been applied to the track and it does sound a bit funny (at least to me)right now... The piece was made to fit forest's or moderately lit woods. The piece does have a loop section and therefor really has no end (which is intended). Let me know what you think so far. http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=audio&file=ForbiddenWoods.mp3
  19. I understand your pain, but the thing is, I didn't come on asking a bunch of question. Like I can understand ones fustration when they are like: "Umm how do I submit a song, what's Reason, what sample quality do I need my files, how large can my files get, what style am I supposed to write in?" See those are the type of question given to one person where yes I'd myself get fustrated about. But the thing is, I asked one question (simple one at that) that just needed a simple answer. How would that make a noob feel if he wanted to ask another question? He may not.
  20. Ahh... I see that post disappeared. Never mind then... ~Previously wrote~ Seriously though, What's with all the hot heads over me about a simple mistake? It's like I obscured a vital section in your life so as you wont be satisfied till it's addressed. Point is, it was addressed once, so let it die. I think we've all past 8yrs old in not to nag too much. The other question is that are you seriously gona treat the newbies the same way when they come here and mistakenly miss the info bar? Yes it's annoying but guess what, it cant be helped. That's the nature of a forum. So rather than submiting 20+ post about how big of an idiot the person is for missing the post, kindly direct is all I'm saying. But hey, dont let me change your life. Do what you do playaz.
  21. I disagree. What your probably trying to quote is a small phrase "You need to crawl to walk". Shame as you put it is like saying you've given up on music (in my opinion). It's like you need to be shamed in order to learn something. Not true. Yes every producer needs constructive critisism no dout. I have no shame in what I produce because I know what I make is great (and I'm not saying this from an arrogant mind set, or from "close friends" as you put it). I know I'm good, and other producers know as well so what's it to me if a few others dont? If the judges dont like it and I get no's around the table then it's what ever for me. I'm doing this for fun, not so I can say that "I swing lower then any and everyone in here." That my friend is arrogance. Tis why when someone greater comes along these so called great veterains are left on the floor gone retarded.
  22. Mistakes happen eh? No dout, I'll hit yall up as soon as I come up with something.
