  1. Yeah, I'm gonna mimic everyone else here. They've definately lost their luster for me. I used to play ALL the time; it was basically all I did. But I have less time and money now, and I've simply lost interest in some of the franchises I used to love. I couldn't even get into Twilight Princess, and I love the Zelda series(although, admittedly, I've always enjoyed the top-down Zeldas more than the 3D ones). And I still haven't finished FFXII; Final Fantasy was my favorite franchise for a long time. Having said that, there's still a decent list of games I'm anxiously awaiting, namely Smash Bros. Brawl, the Kingdom Hearts franchise, Lost Odyssy, Tales of Symphonia 2, and a few others. The interest is still there, but it's definately eroding.
  2. Sweet Jesus that's awesome. Where was it released at? Man, March feels a long ways away. I might grab Super Paper Mario or something to kill time until it comes out. EDIT: I knew when I posted that was a dumb question.
  3. MEGA MAN In all seriousness, I'm still crossing my fingers for Dark Cloud 3. By the way, obligatory true Chrono Trigger sequel.
  4. Well, to each his own. I, for one, found characters like Zelos, Sheena, and Raine to be much more interesting than the main characters like Lloyd, Kratos, Genis, and Colette. But that's my opinion. I also liked Irvine from FFVIII and Zidane from FFIX. I seem to be in the minority when it comes to liking those kind of characters. I'm a little surprised that no one else has suggested Cress from ToP, though. Of course, you're right; it's unlikely any Tales character will be in the game. So all of this is probably pointless speculation anyway.
  5. YES Zelos gets knocked so much in favor of Kratos. But I actually liked Zelos more than Kratos, and his affection storyline and events are much more interesting. But if it's anyone, it'll probably be Lloyd. Or Cress from Phantasia.
  6. Page 2? BLASPHEMY! Also, Sakurai has updated the main site basically saying that the site will not be updated for a while, unless something "newsworthy" comes up. Bummer.
  7. Heh, yeah, interesting message from Nintendo. Guns=BAD Explosives=YAAAAAAAAAY!!! Also, for the record, while I like Sonic overall(mostly the older games, mind you), I'm by no means a Sonic fanboy. Tails definately shouldn't be in it(I'd pick Knuckles before Tails anyway). I think that if they're gonna put 3rd party characters in it, it should be 1 character per company. Snake/Konami. Sonic/Sega. They're just special cameos. They don't need to overload the game with Sega or Konami characters. Of course, I've never played the Castlevania series. I imagine my opinion might change if I do.
  8. NO His primary attack is a freakin' jump. And I don't want to get spammed by idiots who just mash the homing attack button. Ugh. Not to pile on here, but it shouldn't be that hard to adjust him to the gameplay style. You're right in not wanting the homing attack; that's not really something that would work well in SSBB. However, no one ever said he has to use that. Infact, here's how Sonic could work: Up+B=Lightning Shield From Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Pretty simple. Light to moderate damage on the strike. The sparks from the base of the attack would cause light damage. B SMASH=Flame Shield Damage would be similar to Falcon Kick. Works exactly like it does in Sonic 3. Neutral B=Bubble Shield Would work differently in the air. On the ground, use it as a brief shield to deflect projectiles. In the air, it would do the basketball bounce, a la Sonic 3. Damage similar to Donkey Kong's ground slap. Of course, in the event that you use it off the edge, he wouldn't just keep falling. It'll stop after a bit and allow you to recover. Down+B=Spin Dash Would work just as it does in the games. Hold Down after executing attack to hold it in place. Tap B repeatedly to power it up, release Down to attack. It's effect would be similar to Marth's Shield Breaker(whereas Jigglypuff's Rollout is like Roy's Flare Blade). See? Easy. He'd probably be similar to Shiek and Marth; fast, agile jugglers. He would be somewhat weak overall, lacking in a truly powerful finisher, and would be fairly light. His Super could turn him into Super(or Hyper) Sonic. It would last as long as a Super Star, strengthening all of his attacks. He might take damage as it's in effect, though(it's draining his rings, afterall). I'd actually like to see him with this moveset. It'd be pretty cool, IMO. Bottomline: Look what they did for characters like Fox and Captain Falcon. Sonic would be a breeze compared to those two.
  9. They could be done for now. After all, they've unveiled the five characters from the trailer, so they may be waiting for more universal info before updating again. Also, I think Sonic is almost guaranteed. They may prove me wrong, but, somehow, I doubt it. The other will probably be Megaman. If Capcom puts anyone in, it'll either be Megaman or Ryu from Street Fighter, most likely. Although, dark horse pick goes to Zero. He's got his own line of GBA games and alot of people like him. I, personally, would rather see Zero. Namco seems unlikely, simply because of a lack of suitable characters. Lloyd or Cless are really the only ones that come to mind. Square-Enix is the same way; Sora would seem to be the most likely, with Locke, Kefka, and Cecil as other possibilities. Highly unlikely possibilty goes to The Black Knight from Final Fantasy: CC. EA...no. Just....NO. They should remove Pichu, Dr. Mario, and Young Link. My suggestions to for first-party characters are: MARIO Bowser, Jr.(with the paintbrush) Geno Diddy Kong POKEMON Deoxys(could change form depending on what special attacks you use) Lucario ZELDA "Celda" Link Vaati F-ZERO Samurai Goroh METROID Dark Samus Weavel GOLDEN SUN(pretty sure this a first party game) Isaac/Felix Jenna FIRE EMBLEM Never played any, but I imagine they'll add someone from Path of Radiance That brings the total up to roughly 41 right there, not including the speculations.
  10. I assume that means transformation.
  11. Maybe Ganondorf/Ganon, too? Also, new character idea: Bowser, Jr./Shadow Mario. Or, if you really wanna go nuts, Deoxys/Attack Deoxys/Defense Deoxys/Speed Deoxys(Pokemon, incase you don't know). For hating that kinda thing, I've got more ideas than I care to have about it.
  12. I pointed that out on the last page, chief. This kinda sucks, IMO. I don't really like the idea of characters that can transform in mid-battle. I think the should seperate Zelda and Shiek, and I think Samus and ZS Samus should be seperate. But, oh well. The game'll still kick ass. It is pretty obvious, however, that this happens when Samus uses her Super, which is something that I actually thought was a possibility when I first saw the trailer.
  13. According to the quiz I use Link, which is pretty close to who I ussually use. Marth. It says I use Ganondorf and Falcon. I use Roy and Donkey Kong. o_O
  14. The official SSBB site has updated again, this time with info on Zero-Suit Samus and Wario. Check it out here. EDIT: Seems ZS Samus is a character transformation, not a pure character addition. Main site: Hmmmm.
  15. I'll probably get a DSlite so that I can do some multiplayer against my brother, finally. I think they said that Starfox DS will have a co-op mode, so, uh, yeah. Plus, it's got the great GBmicro-esque buttons. I hate the buttons on the DS. Man, come September, the DS will own my soul. And my wallet.
  16. I know it seems we get alot of suggestions for characters, and more would probably just be piling on, but I'll just throw an idea out there and hopefully be done with the suggestions(probably not, though ). One character that hasn't gotten as many suggestions that I really think could fit in perfectly is Lloyd Irving from Namco's Tales of Symphonia. Think about it. Most of his attacks are pretty much already laid out for him. Here's an example of a moveset for Lloyd that I've brainstormed a bit: He'd be using the Material Blades, of course. His basic combo would work similar to Link's. If you tap A twice then hold it for the third slash, Lloyd would do a one-two slash followed by a Sonic Thrust. If you constantly tap A, he'll finish the combo with Sword Rain instead. He could use Supersonic Thrust as his forward power-hit, Tiger Blade for the upward one, and Fierce Demon Fang for the downward hit. His Smash attacks would also utilize his Techs: Beast for the forward smash and Demonic Circle for the downward smash. The upward smash could be Tiger Rage. Special attacks, too: Omega Tempest for the upward special, Guardian for the downward one, and his neutral special would be Demon Fang. His special smash would be Rising Falcon, which could be similar to Pikachu's Skull Bash or the Luigi Rocket: hold B to charge it up, release to initiate the attack. The longer you hold it, the stronger it gets. But as it gets stronger, Lloyd is forced to travel higher and further back before the attack starts. Aerial attacks would probably be pretty routine overall, likely similar to how Roy and Marth attack in the air. His neutral air attack, however would be Tempest. As for his Super, he's already got one of those, too: Rising Pheonix. His overall atributes would likely be similar to Link's: He'd likely be average, speedwise, and have lackluster jumping ability(neutralized by Omega Tempest, which would probably move in a similar style as Link's Spin Attack). His defense would also be either average or above average. ... Eheh. Maybe I think about this game too much. Still, he IS pretty easy to fit in there, moveset-wise. Besides, it'd give them an excuse to use the awesome battle theme, Fighting of the Spirit. So that's a plus.
  17. Bold is my best characters, Italic is my brother's. How the hell is Falcon better than Ganondorf? And Jigglypuff on the High Tier?! And how the hell is Mewtwo on the lowest tier with Pichu? You should see my brother use him. He's crazy-good with Mewtwo. Oi. Maybe I'm missing something here.
  18. Then again, My PvP experience with the game is limited to my brother. I've never really played the game competitively before. That may be the reason you don't like them very much. If your brother isn't very good at stages like that then it must be pretty boring playing on them. Of course the Wii version will be much different, you will be able to play online. Maybe after you get a dose of skilled competition you will learn to like them. Maybe, thats just me theorizing... you might just not like them at all regardless who you play with. Actually, my brother's better than I am all around. We both hate them. He's good with Mewtwo, Bowser, and Marth. But you're probably right. The AI tends to really suck at scrolling stages. That's probably why Hyrule Temple's my favorite stage. You can pile up massive amounts of damage at the bottom level there. I mentioned earlier in the thread that I once got over 700% damage ther with Ganondorf, with no alterations to the damage percentage. Crazy stuff.
  19. Bah, I dunno. I'm just not a fan of having to fight the stages, too. It's just more satisfying to beat them man to man, no items, no cheap deaths. Then again, My PvP experience with the game is limited to my brother. I've never really played the game competitively before. By the way, what exactly are the generally accepted character tiers for SSBM? My best characters seem to be Roy, Fox, and Donkey Kong.
  20. Unfortunately, no. It's slated for TBA 2007. Hopefully it's atleast first half, though. I don't think I can wait til September '07.
  21. I like it. Lava level reminds me of Neo Star from Kirby 64, complete with impending wall of molten doom. I hope to see many stages from each franchise, and don't make half the stages from Mario games! Augh! I still say a Dr. Mario or Tetris level would be awesome. Play in a jar with falling pills or in a column of Tetris bolcks where the only way to die is up or down. Very cool... Heh, I've thought about a Tetris stage too. How about a narrow jar where you could only die by going up? It would have Tetriminoes falling during the battle. If you attack or are knocked into one, it rotates and moves in the direction you hit it. You would be able to manipulate them to get lines and everything. They would also act as walls to keep you in the arena. It'd also have the scoreboards and level indicators. Every 10 lines, the level increases and it speeds up a little bit. If the screen overflows or all lines are cleared, the speed resets. Dunno if it should effect the terrain, though. Maybe they settle in the backround or something. It could get awfully cramped if things build up. Just an idea. It'd be neat to battle with that old Tetris theme in the backround. Also, I hope they bring back the crowds and intro's from the first game. The crowd in Melee sounded so disinterested compared to the one in SSB. I want me a louder crowd! I liked those intro's that every character had, too. Mario coming outta the warp pipe, Fox's Arwing, Pikachu's Pokeball....those need to return. Imagine Snake entering the stage from under his box! XD Awesome. Speaking of Snake, what would his stage MUSIC be? I've always been partial to the Outside theme from the NES Metal Gear, but the intro music to MGS2 would be good, too. As for the stage itself, someone suggested a scrolling stage on a Metal Gear a while back. I think they should dump the scrolling stages altogether, personally. They increase the odds of self-destructs too much, and that ruins the battles, IMO. Nothings more annoying than getting knocked into the road in Big Blue and being completely helpless. Still, it's hard to think of a good Metal Gear stage...Maybe on Metal Gear Rex's head, ala the battle with Liquid Snake in MGS1? That's the only other thing that really comes to mind. I need to play more Metal Gear. As for Snakes Taunt, he should take a puff of a cig, then flick it away all cowboy style. If it hits someone, it's like Luigi's kick Taunt. Also, it should inflict a slight amount of damage to Snake, as well.
  22. Seriously...have any of you people actually bothered USING Ganondorf?!?! I mean, yeah, some of his attacks are quite slow, but he's got plenty of attacks that are fast enough, and anything he does can kill you, including his basic melee attack. Plus, he's a damn tank. I once lasted so long with him at Hyrule Temple, I had well over 700% damage when I died, with no tweaking to the damage percentage. Ganondorf is certainly better than Captain Falcon, atleast. Also, Luigi's only average at ground combat, but his aerial attacks are completely cheap. And you guys left out Dr. Mario & Roy, both of which are about as good as there originals, Mario & Marth. Then there's Falco, who's pretty much a slower Fox from the first game. Heh, anyway. What exactly is the problem with Shiek? Is she generally really good or bad? I can do pretty well with her, myself. Who's generally considered the best character? Man, they better show some SSB stuff at the main show. That's pretty much the main reason I want the Nintendo Wii. If it's gonna be a launch game, you'd think that they'd have SOMETHING on it.
