  1. http://magfest.org/m5sched.html just keep watching hte stickam, we'll get streams up as they go
  2. ya know, if i had enough money to drop on pro-tools, i'd so be all up-ons. even just for being a chumpy little amateur musician who doesn't have a future in the business, because music is a way of life, not just a hobby. so how is it, zirkky?
  3. SOOOOOO Guitar -> pedal -> Amp -> Mic -> Mixer -> Comp (?) too bad i have one of those cheapo radioshack mics and an onboard soundcard for the time being, however, i'm definately going to get me one of those 0404s like everyone's saying to. I'd LIKE to get a decent mic, but i don't think i'll really have enough money to buy everything I want AND get internets this summer. Thanks
  4. Ok, so I bought this Crate CMX-52 mixer and this DigiTech guitar MultiEffects pedal. Obviously, I'll probably tinker around with the pedal and the software it came with and crud, but I wasn't sure how I should go about working with my amplifier. Its one of the trans-tube Peavey amps, but I'm having a bit of trouble identifying it as I'm not at home right now. Anyway, the guy from whom I bought the CMX-52 from said he runs his mixer straight into his laptop; I was wondering if I should go from my PreAmp Out into the mixer into my PC, or if I should just leave out the amplifier and run from the master out of my mixer into my PC for recording. Also: my soundcard is an onboardcruddyshit VIA thing, which I plan on replacing ASAP. Thanks in advance, -Garian
  5. from what i've seen, as far as mics go, you can't get anything worth anything (this is what i've been told at guitar shops) for less than 50 or 70 dollars, at least. And even then, your mic is going to have that funky microphone jack on it instead of the standard 1/4th inch instrument/audio jack, i think its something to do with the fidelity or something (i don't really sing so bleh).
  6. i remember there was a time when someone was going to host "how i made this remix!" tutorials, and Matthew was going to share his "ocean palace wavebreaker" remix, because it was buzz D: i'm not an OCReMixer, but if you want, i can go through some of my .flp files, and make up some tutorials with them (like how Toby did the TS404 tutorial) but it may be a few months before i can get them back to you ;p
  7. You are not a warrior. You are a begger! i dare say, how did you know my street fighting skills were lacking? is there an empty space in my hands where an arcade console should be, or something?
  8. I declare, that you (being defined as the sole poster of the above message, Shael Riley) owe me (being defined as Garian Cashman) interest due to an investment of my time in this thread. Please send the check to Some Place in Japan, On the Face of Some Cliff, Care of Ryu.
  9. thats easy. What you gotta do is go to the knob you were editing, right click, and go to Edit something or other. it should bring up an area that looks similar to the piano roll, but it has waves/whatever that are shaded underneath where you were playing with it, you just have to hit "delete all" and you will keep your score and delete the recorded adjustments.
  10. Showdax, the default samples aren't really all THAT bad, but i wouldn't suggest using them for submitting to OCR, unless you're uber-elite-tastic or something. the TS404 is really useful, if used properly or smth. I personally liked Orionstring, the Ins_*.wavs, and the ML_Moog.wav; they were good for just messing around with the program. and: I'll help you out with Gating: Open up a 3xOsc, Get the chord/whatever that you want. Open a second 3xOsc. use the last instrument tab to give it a gate of 1 or smth, or the INS tab to set the ADSR to what you want it to. Give it a seperate FX channel, and open the Peak Controller. After you do this, link the first 3xOsc's volume knob to the Peak control. Enjoy.
  11. If you have that many VSTi htat you think you have too many of them, perhaps its time to stop using so many. I can understand having a few good synth vsti, a couple orchestra vsti, and maybe one or two drum vsti, but having so many that you need scroll buttons may be just going a tad too far. How many of those do you use in a new song? Do they do the same things you could do with samples? Its not about quantity of instruments, but the quality. You don't need "RaveMix VSTi" "SawBand VSTi" and "FM7;" I asure you, FM7 is powerful enough (and a resourcehogpiggy). Sure, you can get presets easily with all of them, not saying you do, but still, presets can only take you so far. Another thing, as far as i know, you cannot dump VSTi onto a channel, because of the way fruity handles them (it "wraps" them or smth) ruling out any type of orginisation.
  12. ...i haven't listened to anything like this in forever... used to be one of my favourite genres... i'd say it resembles the screaming trees alot more than alice in chains, however... but thats just me. very nice work for being a "first take" or something... i can't wait to hear an updated version
  13. so basically you want to record your own samples? get a microphone and record it. as far as using the 3xOsc presets: make your own. turn the knobs, you will not crash the program, trust me.
  14. the 99$ pack is the best route, you get updates for life, and most of the plugins are about 20$ each. there are plugins for fruityloops that cost more money (dx10, wasp, simsynth, fruity SF player), but aside from those, you just need a good soundcard. and 3: ...
  15. thats the leet way to do it. i prefer just to add a clone of the instrument on another effects rack, cause i'm lazy (and not too good at using automation yet)
  16. the piano roll? i've never had problems with it. maybe your settings are screwed up or something, try resetting them.
  17. you do mean explicit, don't you? and REF: i've had an experience where fruityloops will crash (won't play) when i click play, instead of playing, thre ellipses appear on the play button, all i do to remedy is close friuyt, start it up again, and if the FLP does it again, i just delete the flp and begin anew.
  18. they mean the FST, not the "samples" (the raw .wav files which the FST use). almost all of the FST are detuned, and sound BAD (except for maybe a few, such as the TB303 fst, which uses the ins_saw.wav) i can do quite a few things using the wavs found in */*/fruityloops/samples/instruments/shapes folder. i especially love creating moog pads using ml_moog. also: the orionstring sample in extra is rather nice for being defsamp.
  19. use the "playlist" to set it up, and then listen to it, make adjustments, listen again, and once you're satisfied with it, go to file/export/mp3 you can drag soundfonts onto the midi out, and it will replace the midi output plugin with the fruity soundfont plugin. but what i prefer to do when i just want a midi to sound better is add new samplers, cut the piano roll from the midi channel, and paste it on the empty channel, adding a sample to it after i've done that for all of them. only problem is, that it still isn't my own work
  20. sorry bout that dain, but i'm not technical about things like you are... i figure, if i generalise enough, people will actually understand me. FL is a rather non-difficult program to figure out if one would experiment with it anyway, but you're right, there are people so dense that they need a step by step walkthrough =P
  21. rellik, to use VSTi in Fruity, simply put the dll into the vsti plugin folder, then tell it to do a fast scan. it will then see the dll file, and ask you if you would like to add it to the list of plugins to select to create new channels.
  22. is it in SF2 format? this is the biggest problem with FL noobs...
  23. Rellik, could i please have a link to the flp? i think i'd be able to help you out more by lookign at that than by what you've described.. however, on the last tab on the sampler module, there is a knob that says "gate" if you have this set to full, there is no cut off of the note, but if its set any less than that, it will cut the note off after that maney milliseconds have passed... this can help synths, but hurt pianos.
