  1. Yeah pretty much. I can add the Suikoden Tactics game too and Tiekris if people want.
  2. Hello all! I have an album idea for the Genso Suikoden series. I'm not sure how to go about this but I do know there are alot of songs spanning the main series (Suikoden I through V). Here are links to a list of the songs from each games OST. Quality wise I'd like something, say, Ectogemia or Phonetic Hero would normally make. Here is a primary link. http://downloads.khinsider.com/search?search=genso Genso Suikoden II Original Sound Track Vol. 1 Genso Suikoden II Original Sound Track Vol. 2 Genso Suikoden III Original Soundtrack Genso Suikoden IV Original Soundtrack Genso Suikoden V Original Soundtrack These links may not work at the moment. http://downloads.khinsider.com/game-...ame-soundtrack http://downloads.khinsider.com/game-...d-track-vol.-1 http://downloads.khinsider.com/game-...d-track-vol.-2 http://downloads.khinsider.com/game-...nal-soundtrack http://downloads.khinsider.com/game-...nal-soundtrack I'd like to use this thread to gauge interest in this potential project. Personally I have zero experience in organizing these things and would like some advice from some established project directors / assistant directors. Thanks for reading all this
  3. Hey, I thought I'd post this in case people were trying to pick things apart. Should be fairly obvious except maybe some of the bass line ones. 4. Thanks dude I had fun making it and still have a long ways to go. Hope the journey is a fun one. Also, I think I heard Darke mutter "Imma gonna break you shadow24" in my mind's eye.
  5. Oh come on. It's not like that isn't also his name
  6. Welp until Darke gets the new music up enjoy some symphonic metal by Within Temptation Edit: To go with Rex's post below. https://soundcloud.com/fantomenk/wily
  7. Hey I'd love to but the ball is in Darke's court right now. Until he makes that hyperlink go hyperactive we has gotz to wait Me thinks the LP will be tomorrow night at this rate.
  8. Behold the power of ninja updates Hope you guyz enjoy my track. Ran outta time for fixing suggestions Gar made but i'll prolly workshop this one Thanks Gar for all the advice and critiquing!
  9. Initial submission complete with a forecast of possible ninja updates Keiji Inafune is making a new game Check it out. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mightyno9/mighty-no-9
  10. I tried as hard as anyone. Sheep man's new theme. Listen in head in heavy metalz style with Strader singing -> AGFGAAAGGGACCAGFGAAAAGGAGF
  11. Orion, Were you going for a Frank Zappa song length? I think you have the record for longest song thrown together in one week...
  12. Could you link the source material for everyone? I remember this music from the game but it sounds too much like the original. Try going your own direction with it and making it yours. The horn like instrument 0:49 to 0:56 and 1:58 to 2:06 sounds bad. The notes sound off too... See if you can find some good samples or replace the instrument. Try building up the intro more with maybe a high pass filter on some instruments. Take the frequency all the way up over a period of say 5 seconds. Try varying your instruments in different parts and change the notes a bit so your audience doesn't get bored. Maybe raise the gain on your drums a bit. Pan some instruments lightly in sections to give your mix a larger feel. Hope some of this helps dude. I'll let better suited people offer their thoughts and advice.
  13. I hope you get time to finish it later and please let me know when you do. Great stuff
  14. Winning takes more than skill though. Time and effort are also needed. Here's to hoping that everyone can get a mix in this week. Also, I have another question. Can we use multiple ally theme's? Some people like Jason like using all the themes for kicks and personal challenge. Can we not use multiples because of this reuse requirement?
  15. You can change the sends to pre / post / etc in Logic. Option click it or right click it. Can't remember off the top of my head.
  16. I'd like to hear from anyone who's willing to share how they do things. If you can point out some of these pitfalls then that would be great. I fall in enough holes as it is
  17. I don't consider myself qualified to be giving out advice but I think mixing wise it couldn't hurt for you to experiment with automation. Delay, Reverb, and light panning are fairly basic and used by most everyone one time or another. Add some delay to your lead instrument track at different parts. Add light reverb to some of your instruments and listen to see how the depth changes. Lightly pan the higher octave instruments say left 20% and right 20% over time. Just play with that stuff for now and you can move on to toying with the actual synths (envelopes, atk, delay, sustain, etc.) Edit: I'll post general mixing stuff here. Composition and Arrangement ----------- 1) Transpose all sources so they don't step on each other. 2) learn chords or notes that sound good together. A) You can play them all at the same time in the case they are strings (Vertical arrangment) You can play them in progression if you want to create a melody or transition between sources (Horizontal arrangment) 3) Try to pick instruments that sound good / complement each other (Timbre). 4) Reverse cymbals are good to use in order to transition between parts of your song. Mixing ------ 1) Learn to use EQ with each instrument and cut unwanted frequencies using a narrow band. Think of it as chiseling a sculpture. This one requires a good ear. A) Low Pass and High Pass filters like EQ affect the frequency range of instruments. These are good for building up the beginning and toning down for the end of songs. Experiment on the percussion and other instruments. In Jake's mix he was able to vary the drums by automating either their attack or using low/high pass filters. Check out 0:34 Stone Cold Rock and listen for it. The composition is unchanged but he applied automation for variation. 2) Compression. Watch some vids on this. Ecto can fill you in as well. This can make instruments seem louder. It can also be used to sidechain other instruments to produce a volume pumping effect. A typical example would be routing a kick to your bass via a compressor using sidechain. 3) If you can go into the synths you might be able to automate wave form changes for your instrument to make it change as your song goes along. For example you could go between a square waves, to triangles to sines. A) Here's a WIP that illustrates this technique. https://soundcloud.com/darrencsmith/dopplerganger. Listen to the lead. Mastering ---------- This usually goes last and requires great mixing skills. Some people use different plugins like adaptive limiters, multipressors, and different frequency analyzers to tweak their song. Ask others about this because I can't master and only just learned about some of these ideas. My advice is to ask people here in the contest and watch videos of people explaining these techniques for your DAW. Hopefully all this stuff will help. Just try each idea when you're ready. All, Correct me for when I make totally wrong assumptions and prevent me from misguiding SilvernixSP.
  18. Me too even though mine are "eclectic". Hopefully people get some enjoyment out of mine as I learn.
  19. Hey just curious are a bunch of you guys going to submit your songs to OCR later? GLL made an awesome mix this round among others. I'm actually impressed with the vocal abilities of the teams so congratz to the people that are adding them in.
  20. Man, I looked up the name of your track to figure out the meaning and all I got were posture correction product results in google. I was like... "well that's not it. I guess I won't know the meaning". http://spineshark.com/ On a side note I think I jinxed the workshop forums with my previous comment. Expect more interesting people I guess...
  21. I keep seeing these incidents in the workshop with individuals being less than cordial and receptive to feedback. I hope it is a short lived trend or is that sort of behavior normal? First ceddy then this pjmvgbeats person. Anyway, my real point for this is to thank all of you that have tryed to help me get better as a musician. It'll sink in eventually. You are appreciated.
  22. Am I gonna be a mega-hunter? Will the zero virus affect robot masters? Noone shatter his head crystal ya here me. It's bad juju. Ok, in order to take out Wily we need to approach this differently. Jason can infiltrate the ventilation system at Castle Wily and work on his allergies. Nathan and Jesse can work on the heating and cooling systems to change the temperature rapidly. It's a low blow but if we can induce a heartattack from Wily then we win. ... Activating zero... Talk about escalation man. He has no idea what we are truly capable of. PS: Spark man trys.... I gotz no handz
