  1. This is cute! The lyrics are cheesey as all getout, but I think they are also charming in their own way. You've presented the melody in a catchy way, and listening through a few times I thought I'd get annoyed at the repetitive chorus, but it managed to keep my interest throughout. On the flip side, I'm feeling like the background is overall sparse, and I think you could do more to fill things out. I'll also agree that the mood is there, but the synths are lacking that movement that really adds some flavor. The vocals are cute, and the voices work well, although there are definitely some intonation areas. The transition to the chorus at 3:57 felt awkward with that pause as well. I can see this passing, but right now I think there's some more you can do to clean it up and polish it. I'm going to send it back at ya. NO (please resubmit)

I made this remix a while ago, but procrastinated submitting it, below is some info! Here is a remix of songs from Chrono Trigger and Tales Weaver. The first probably needs no introduction, but Tales Weaver is a Korean MMORPG, and I've been addicted to the soundtrack for quite a while now =) This remix has both synth and acoustic elements, and I wove elements of both themes throughout the mix, most notably the background bell that pretty much plays through everything =) The accompanying youtube vid is here,

I've been dying to do something epic and lengthy like my very first OCR remix The Memory Leak Suite for some time now. Wing commander is one of those games which, much like the other games I've remixed in the past, has great / epic music bones that are just begging to be reorchestrated! I had tons of fun with this one and even went outside of the box a bit with some of my orchestration while still retaining the vibe and themes of the original pieces. Speaking of vibe, I approached this as if it were a Wing Commander film produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and wanted to compose something epic and zimmerish.. which I think I've accomplished. The first part of the suite uses the chord progression from the main march, just slowed down a bit... which is a great progression in its own right. That leads into a foreboding version of the briefing cue, which then segways into an action packed rendition of Scramble eventually leading in to Flying to Combat and A Heroes Funeral to finish things off. I hope you have as much fun listening to this one as I had making it! ----------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eblKEGr-FJk - Fanfare http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJh-BTD-Uxg - Briefing - Take-off 5:24, Funeral 8:04(not sure on the flying to battle, any help would be appreciated)

The album is to be released at http://www.vampirevariations.com. This track is the second-to-last one and is the music that accompanies the final battle between Simon Belmont and Dracula. It is a full-orchestra, epic and ominous-feeling track, inspired by Hans Zimmer's music, but also but Oscar Araujo's. It is my biggest production so far (as far as I can remember). It was made with EWQL Symphony Orchestra in FL Studio. Be sure to check the album! Link to the mix: MediaFire I hope everything's okay! -Alex

  7. Remixer Name: TheGuitahHeroe Game Remixed: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team Song Remixed: "Buried Relic/Southern Cavern" ( )YEAH MAN ANOTHER PMD REMIX. This song is badass, so I felt the need to remix it. It's one of my favorites from the Mystery Dungeon Series. I actually remixed this a long time ago but it was shot down on the WIP forum (and for good reason, lol ). Also hooray for mid-song genre switches! Well, hope you guys enjoy
  8. I'm going to disagree with Jesse on this one. I think there are times where the melody is pretty straight-forward, and I do think that's something that Pete can work on in the future, but the background and counter melodies are very well done and unique. I think they make up for any source-arrangement issues, and overall this is an enjoyable track to listen to. Not a fan of the voice clips at the end, but it's no dealbreaker. YES
  9. I was going to mention how muffled this sounds due to the various filterings to it, but listening to it a few more times, I see how it works for the feel you're going for. Overall, you've got a good start on a cool idea for this source, but once you get into the meat of things, the arrangement becomes static. With some more development, you could pass, but it's not there as is. NO (resubmit)
  10. I'm a bit on the fence for this one. Firstly, the style adaption and time signature change works really well; you were able to keep the Shimomura flavor along with adding that Chopinesque syle. As Andrew says, overall hte song feels a little reserved, when I think you could have really exaggerated the dynamics and tempo changes to get more effect. Along with that, I feel like the song itself feels a little rigid, not exactly sure why. Regardless of all that though, there are some really fun moments, like the modulation to major towards the end. I do think the good outweighs the bad here, but it's a close call, to be sure. YES (borderline)
  11. I dunno, I think there's a few more balance issues that I think could be tweaked around with. One example is the strings that have a little counter melody 2:15 sound completely buried out and distant. Maybe fidgiting around with the compression as well. I think it's super close, but I think it's a little more work than a conditional vote. NO (resubmit, please!)
  12. I'd say this is a huge improvement over the first sub. There are still a couple of issues, like some areas where the timing doesn't seem quite right, and some background note choices that aren't bad, but don't feel quite correct. I don't think they are to a point that would warrant a NO, however. Welcome aboard
  13. As usual, Andrew has hit all the aspects of the mix that need fixing. I think in addition to what he has already mentioned, I feel like you could do a little more to some of the sections between the main melody areas. Focusing on the bass is cool, but maybe the next time around have something else to fill in the space. I'd suggest using our WIP forums to get some further feedback, as well. NO (resubmit)
  14. I wasn't really bothered by the tightness or looseness of the playing, but I have some arrangement issues that I think are pulling this down. Aside from the transition between the two songs, which are completely separate from one another, Spring Man feels like a tacked on cover with a couple embellishments here and there. I'd say as a whole the two sources aren't exactly good fits for one another, and I wouldn't be sad if Spring Man was pulled entirely. Soundwise, I'm still going to say I don't feel like the mellotrons are really a good choice for a lead instrument. Aside from me not being a fan of the sound overall, I think it is being overpowered by the bass and guitar when it doubles it. On the good side, I think the drum writing works very well for the track, and you did a good job there. Fix it up. NO (resubmit)
  15. Andrew has most of the bigger crits, mainly that the pads are hitting slow, so everything feels off-beat. Aside from that, I'm feeling that there are some areas of the mix that aren't really doing much, and are just dragging things out. Trimming the fat will help condense the more interesting sections together and keep the interest level up. NO (resubmit)
  16. I was a little worried at first when the guitar came in that you were going to go into cover territory for the entire track. Thankfully I was pleasantly surprised by a good deal of personalization that really brings a lot of variety to the source. You definitely expounded on the epic feel of the original, and I love the piano intro/outro. YES
  17. I might have been able to overlook one Beatles song, but I'm going to have to agree with Larry on this now that I've seen the proof. Sorry dude, gotta be a no-go, IMO.
  18. Definitely immediately hearing clipping on the piano, you can pull that back and get a better balance of sound. Going to also be honest, the banjo sample is pretty terrible, I'd look into finding something better. The rest of the sounds are ok, nothing is blowing me away. As Andrew said, the beat is out of place here, and is more distracting to the arrangement then enhancing it. Look into how you can make the drums support what's going on in the arrangement. On the plus side, you have some pretty cool ideas for the arrangement, and I really like some of the harmonic choices you made. There's definitely some good parts here, but the production is in need of work. Check our WIP forums to get more advice from the forum members. NO
  19. Beautiful playing, and a great expansion on the theme. Lots of classical undertones and an overall playful atmosphere. There's no doubt that this conveys that 'springy' feel you are going for. YES
  20. Andrew hit all the major points here; there are some cool arrangement ideas going on, but the energy is killed mostly by the drums. I'd also like to point out that the overall song feels a little muffled, which is another energy loss factor. You've got some work to do, but you're on the right track! NO (resubmit)
  21. I'm definitely going to have to agree with OA here. The soundscape is pretty cool, and I love the direction you took this track, but right now the drums are killing the energy, along with the overall slight rigid feel. I think you can do a lot to really make this awesome, and I hope you send it back! NO (resubmit, please)
  22. I think this one's a close call. The personalization is there, but overall the textures are pretty close to the original. I like it, and I think there's enough here for it to pass, I wish you the best of luck with the rest of the vote. YES
  23. So, I'm definitely hearing an improvement over the last sub, but I think this has brought some new issues to light. First off, the arrangement has a few areas that are really sparse, 1:36-2:07 coming to mind first. I think there's some areas that can either be trimmed down or filled up with something new and original. I appreciate you working on adding more highs and lows, but I think you went a little overboard, and now there's a lack of mids. Working on balancing it back the other way might solve some of the sparse feeling in the arrangement. NO (resubmit)
