Seriously though, working within some basic & flexible artistic boundaries is what brought us some of the best art the world has ever known... including a massive swath of the most iconic VGM ever written. To complain about the limitations of (comparatively) flexible guidelines such as our own when arranging music that was itself composed with (comparatively) far more specific/restrictive technical boundaries seems... odd.
And by "odd" I mean "OMG WTF"...
But I wouldn't use those tactless words, because I represent the site in an official capacity...

Hey guys! Stargazers is my latest release and a really experimental dive into some retro musical motifs and apocalyptic settings. I had an awful lot of fun making it, and I hope some of you enjoy checking it out! The genre is New Wave/Alternative, and the album is always free to listen to on my Bandcamp. Hopefully on a few days it'll be up on various music sites as well, so I can post those in an edit if anyone's interested. Feedback is always appreciated, I'm definitely doing more like this so I'll keep any tips in mind for next time.

Is it too late to make a claim on a tune? 
I've been wanting to do "Where I Belong" for awhile now but it always kept getting put off by other projects I was involved with. 
 
I definitely have something vocal in mind for that,  probably female lead but I need to cobble it together and rewrite the lyrics now that I'm not 16 and relatively inexperienced -

Welcome to the Album Thread for Final Fantasy VIII: Collision Course.

The concept for this album stretches back to 2010 where a tracklisting and title were chosen for what one would have
dreamed would be a great Final Fantasy VIII album. With your help, I'm hoping to make that a reality. Right now is the
recruitment phase, so if you are a posted ReMixer, feel free to make a claim -- first come, first served on any source.
If you are not a posted ReMixer, you are still welcome to join the album roster if you can produce high quality mixes, or
are capable of producing a high quality arrangement and structure, then delivering your stems for mixing/mastering.
Please submit an audition. Mixing/Mastering would be handled by me for anyone who requests it.
There is no genre restriction, however please give much consideration to preserving the spirit of the source.

I'm bad with titles. I also have a rule: I am not against improving on something even if it's been released to my YT channel... I'm pretty dang proud with how this worked out though... Once we move forward with our plans to integrate the workshop with the overall site database, the concept of "rejections" won't carry quite as much weight... mixes accepted by the judges panel or direct-posted will be "featured" mixes, but everything else in the workshop (WIP, finished, submitted) will show up on the main listings, etc.
 
In other words, there will no longer be a need for a separate site that accepts everything (which is basically YouTube/SoundCloud anyways, except those will always be bigger), nor will there be a need for a separate site to host rejections. Will people still insist there's a need for those types of sites after we make this change? I guess we'll see...
