  1. I think you need to be more specific on what you are looking for in the sound. Basically you take a really good guitarist and a really amazing singer and you record them and a band. I can be more specific, but you need to ask specific questions.
  2. i figured we'd catch up to your main eventually
  3. Deia, Shariq, and I have allies on Gorefiend (PVP), and Deia and I have allies on Feathermoon (PVE). The Gorefiend characters are around 40 right now, and Feathermoon are around 25 (Feathermoon is also my home base, and I can get you teh bag hookupz if you need).
  4. Instead of punishing assholes, just make the players who are fun to play with get rewarded. How that can be measured isn't terribly easy, but it's good to see some thinking outside of the box in terms of these sort of things.
  5. OCR survivor! It'd be like the Grand Master Robot Battle, but also contestants have to all live in the "ReMix Haus" and vote on the tracks. Some people could take the high road and vote on the better track, but others might form alliances to see their rivals out the door that much sooner. Backstabbing, drama, and sudden romance, all with an incredible ReMixed soundtrack! At the end of the week, the sponsorship with iTunes will see that week's remixes available for purchase!
  6. my schedule didn't quite fit with HBO's, so they had to recast Theon. I guess the new guy was creepy and not as ruggedly handsome, so they decided to change the character a little bit more to be closer to the events of book 3.
  7. feels a lot better to me, i'll keep the brief joojment train rollin' Yes
  8. Besides the bass being really subby without much presence, and some of the levels being off (the highs felt overhyped to me), this was pretty solid. The drums felt good, and the synths did as well. There was definitely a frequency hole in the low mids, but the arrangement was strong and varied enough to pull this one through. Yes
  9. I was feeling this more than my fellow judges I think; it evokes the original well, and the drums are much improved in this version. Unfortunately, I'm still not hearing much bass, and the opening, while better still feels a little lost to me. I think adding some bass to give it a better foundation, and then tightening the intro a bit more, or at least giving it more structure melodically would be best. Definitely a step in the right direction, but it needs to go further. No, please resubmit
  10. i liked the create a character in 4 way more than the actual game, but i didnt have anyone to play against, so it is what it is
  11. I definitely think this is overcompressed, as things are just way way loud. Bring the overall levels down, and the compressor won't have to work as hard. The melody isn't apparent immediately, but after several listens, it's mostly there. I'm hearing less than 50% overall, and because of the massive alterations, it's even tougher for me. The performances were good overall, but the less-than-dominant source and overcompression mean this needs to be fixed up a little. I'm looking forward to hearing a updated version! No, please resubmit
  12. Lead guitar is definitely loud and harsh, frequency-wise, but I really like the arrangement ideas here. The combination of the orchestra backing with some minor electronic parts and the guitars is really nice, and overall I am really feeling the track. I do think the guitars need to be EQ'ed a bit so they aren't as piercing. Otherwise, this is creative, and a good use of source. Yes (conditional)
  13. I really REALLY love this song on it's own, but there's definitely not enough dominant source in it for OCR, and there are some mixing issues. Your original writing is excellent, and the arrangement itself is really tight, with solid transitions and a strong vocal performance. Guitars and Bass were great, and the drum fills felt really nice as well. Also loved the lyrics. To improve the sound, I think some EQ applied to the guitars and horns to carve them out their own space is a good start, and maybe pan the clean guitar opposite of the vocals just a little bit. Absolutely fantastic track with a nice Phoenix Wright musical cameo, but it can't go on OCR in it's current state. No ;_;
  14. I think there are some really nice arrangement ideas here, but I have to agree that some of the cheap-sounding samples and the mechanical sequencing keep this back from it's full potential. I recommend hitting up the WIP forums and getting some detailed feedback from others on getting the specifics down, and maybe some help with samples. No, please resubmit
  15. I saw the movie last night and it was super badass! The effects were great but understated, the casting and acting was very good, and though some of the fights were edited a little too quickly for my taste, the whole thing was super exciting. There was a lot of humor as well, and I would definitely recommend going to go see it.
  16. I'm just referring to the changes, not the infrequency of her storyline stuff.
  17. Interesting how they change Dany's whole marriage thing from the book, though I think the changes make sense in the context of the show. Still really enthused about the show. :-)
  18. nice riffage, and a very cool take on the source, but those vocals sound buried a lot, and some of the lines ("moves we make", etc) can't quite keep up. The arrangement is a basi genre shift, but there is a lot of care in putting it to new instruments in an intelligent way, and it's a definitely recognizable but unique take on the source. It's pretty solid stuff, but damn it's loud. ;_; I'd like to hear the overall volume brought down a hair, and the vocals emphasized a bit more, if that's cool. Yes, conditional
  19. Some really cool arrangement ideas, and a few that fall flat. The transitions were a weak point, though the second SFX one worked better I thought. The samples are pretty generic, and are sometimes effective, but the drums, orch hits, and a few of the pads sound really 1 dimensional. The mechanical sequencing isn't really helping either, and the explosion SFX sound like they are clipping the track. :/ I think the production aspect needs more polish, and the transitions could be improved, but arrangement-wise I think it's pretty good. See if you can replace the samples with something a little more exciting, and clean up that clipping. No, please resubmit
  20. The way things are mixed makes the bass sound really cheapy to me. I suggest EQing it slightly to roll off the high end. I like the lead, but it sounds a little bit loud overall as well, and is frequently overpowering things. A lot of the pads seemed loudish too, making the RMS of the track really high. The sounds are still pretty clear, so it's not quite overcompressed, but it is certainly getting close, and could benefit from a little bit more headroom. The arrangement is really nice, and has a lot of cool ideas, so that's good to go, but combined with some balance issues and the overly high volume, I think i'd be more comfortable passing this if some tweaks were made first. No, please resubmit
  21. Great arrangement, but a lot of the sections (specifically the intro) were rock sickness, but no source. I agree that the leads are a bit buried, and overall a lot of the rhythm tone sounds a little overscooped, while other parts are good. Playing is ridiculously tight and clean, and the parts that have source have incredibly excellent new rhythm parts and chord changes. I think EQing the lead a little bit to get some of the 2-3k pierce downplayed a bit would let you bring the volume up and get a stronger balance. Definitely love the track and really really hope you can rebalance a few things and resub it. No, please resubmit
  22. I'm gonna disagree one the source use overall, as the little segment of the lead is present a lot, and though there is a decent source hole in the center, but there are enough snippets of source strewn about that I can give it the nod as far as source goes. The arrangement itself doesn't seem to lead anywhere once it's fully moving, but it breaks down and then builds up again, which is pretty nice. The synths and soundscape overall feel nice and expansive to me, and there are some really nice details in the percussion and subtle gated synths. The string attacks sound pretty bleh and static, and some of the soundscape stuff is a bit off; a few of the guitar takes have timing issues, where it doesn't sound quite on the beat. The source is pretty much there in one form or another, and is pretty recognizable, even to me, who isn't a fan of the original. I think the timing could be tighter and there could be a stronger overall direction though, and Maybe a second source that has a stronger hook. I like the foundation here, but I think it needs a little bit more work to get there. No, please resubmit
  23. hmm, probably Skyline by Ziwtra http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01038/
  24. Really nice arrangement, and though the samples themselves aren't mindblowing, the care put into the construction and execution of them is really solid, and easily surpasses their origin. The reverb is a bit much, but the track still has decent clarity, and the sax sequencing is pretty impressive. The weak points are the piano stiffness and the drums, but overall I think the arrangement and sequencing gets this over the bar. Yes
