  1. Is that midnight for us? I'll submit tomorrow I think to be safe.
  2. This a mash-up/Remix of About You Now by the Sugababes and Intergalactic by Beastie Boys. All music other than the vocals was created by me, inputting the notes in midi myself and choosing all the instrument sounds. In other words, I didn't use the instrumental/karaoke version of About You Now, I did more of a cover version of and mixed the vocals of Intergalactic in. Some sounds I tried to keep as close as possible to the Sugababes' original - such as the drums and bass. Other parts, such as the guitars, I went off in my own direction for. Cheers! http://www.supload.com/listen?s=TQQX6SZT0VCZ
  3. Thanks. The reason I posted here is that google churns out loads of results and what I really need are personal recommendations. What I'm really looking for is a dedicated program that is designed for mp3 encoding. I didn't even know i-tunes dealt with wavs. Because there are indeed so many free programs that can do this, it would be extremely helpful if someone could name a single program that they have used/currently use and can recommend it. Cheers, Alex.
  4. Cheers Abadoss. lol I was just pulling your leg HoboKa. I never seem to fare well in CMCs. Still, I had fun composing for this one!
  5. Hi, Could someone please recommend a program that simply converts a wav file to mp3 (other than "WAV to MP3 Encoder 2.5" as I can't run the program due to an error). I'm looking for free programs only. If there is a free program out there that handles variable bit rate that would be sick, but otherwise I'm happy with standard mp3 encoding. Cheers, Alex.
  6. I'm done. Prepare to meet your doom HoboKa! By the way, are the pieces from previous competitions still hosted anywhere Abadoss?
  7. Thank you for being such an outstanding host Bev! Ever since I entered my first PRC (PRC 69 - Tommahawk man!) I have always admired your dedication and positive attitude. You've worked so hard on this competition and I wish you nothing but the best of luck in your future endeavors.
  8. Thanks your reply. Definately not the usb port - all the ports seem to be working fine. I think it's the old usb driver from my previous keyboard that's causing the problem. The icon for my old Yamaha keyboard driver is still in the control panel, eventhough it doesn't show up in the device manager. Does this mean that my old Yamaha MIDI-USB Driver is still installed? When I click the icon (in the control panel) a message pops up that says: "Yamaha USB-MIDI Device is not connected", as if it's still looking for the keyboard (meaning the driver is still installed?) Cheers, sorry to drag this on. Any further help would be fantastic. Alex
  9. No I don't have Media Center edition of xp. Thanks for the suggestion though. The keyboard does not show up in the Enigma inputs either. Could it be that somehow the driver files are installed, but in the wrong place? Thanks again, Alex.
  10. Well funnily enough I always used to compose without a keyboard for years. It's just that now I can save time inputting the notes... that's if I can get the damn thing to work! In the meantime I'll go back to the ol' mouse work.
  11. I installed the drivers, but there's a few files in program files (where I installed the drivers). Should they go somewhere else instead, such as the Windows directory? I'm not going through a hub, just straight into the laptop. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll update the drivers and see if it makes a difference. The funny thing is that, as I mentioned, the keyboard works fine on another PC. There is this other "MIDI-USB DRIVER" in the control panel, from my old keyboard. However, I'm not sure where to remove this. I've looked in device manager, sounds video and game controllers but couldn't locate it. Any further help would be bery much appreciated. Thanks, Alex.
  12. Hi, I recently purchased the M-Audio Oxygen 8 V2 midi keyboard. I plugged it into the family PC, hardware was installed (XP service pack 1) and it worked fine in my sequencer, Cubase VST 5 - all keys and knobs were responding as they should. However, when trying to do the same thing on my laptop, XP (service pack 2) seemed to install the hardware fine (got the "your hardware is now ready for use" message). However, upon opening up my sequencer program (Cubase VST 5) the keyboard was not even showing up in the INPUT devices box, let alone sending any midi data! I also tried it in Reason 4 and Sibelius 5 with no joy. Any help, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Alex.
  13. I see what you mean about the deep-voiced movie narrator Argitoth. xD If only my ******* new midi keyboard would actually work I'd be straight in.
  14. Ahhh I missed this round completely! Until next time.
  15. I might have missed this fact, sorry. Anyway, congratulations on your PRC win TON!
  16. I feel strongly that some of the voters were far too harsh and unfair towards Chickenwarlord and his entry. Before you start flaming people in future, think about this: if you think you can do better, prove it by entering a remix yourself. How will there be "growth in the artform" if you don't criticise contructively? I don't know whether it's laziness or pure maliciousness, but either way it's wrong.
  17. I feel guilty about this. But at the same time, thanks Chickenwarlord once again for coming up with an entry.
  18. Sorry guys. Looks like I've well and truly killed PRC. :/ Is it because of the source?
  19. Dustin you killed the thread! I listened to all of your myspace songs but was disappointed to hear none of your rapping on there. I can't hire you if you have no gangsta portfolio! Also, only 12 hours left to vote bruvs.
  20. It's a real shame you couldn't get this finished in time, Knives. I heard the first few bars and thought we might hear some Knives rapping. I was really getting into the DnB style drums when it ended. Hopefully next time though, eh.
  21. I have been listening to every version of this from first to last. And I have to say: really stunning stuff Chris. This just has so much energy and excitement. Absolutely love it. I thought I'd post now just to wish you good luck with the judges. Not that you should need it with such an inspiring remix.
