  1. Hello, everyone.

We at Reunion Netlabel just launched our new discord server. In a time where algorithms hide posts and/or put people in bubbles, it's good to have a central hub to make sure those who are interested get notified.
I dislike the idea of a mailing list, and i do enjoy talking to people so a discord server is more fit for us.
Also, in case you didn't know, Reunion returned last year after a pretty long hiatus and we do not intend to go anywhere anytime soon, and we finally have some new releases queued up, so stay tuned for those.

  2. Hello again.

Brok3n Beats (Me and my dear friend Victor) just released our debut EP "Unwoven Basket" on Reunion. It's something that we've been working on for quite some time whenever we've had the time.
Feels good to have it out, at last. Victor came up with the idea/story behind the EP and I've worked more or less like a producer, but also contributed a lot in the writing process.
We're both way out of our comfort zone here, and I think we've learned a lot about ourselves. :)

Always enjoy me some tracker music. Listening while I work. Climbing the Tree of Life is my fav so far, but haven't finished yet.

(Btw you'll probably want to remove the "s" in "https" from the link to your website above (or just install a security certificate), clicking it gives an error.)

Will do, I've gotten more reports of the site being weird, especially in Firefox. Gonna check out the control panel next time i have time to update the site.

Climbing the Tree of Life seems to be the one, you're like the 20th person to point to it. Duly noted :P

  4. Hello all.

I just released my new Goa Trance album, Flight To Europa with my new project A Flying Dryad. This means that Reunion is back and open for submissions, but I don't know how active we will be. Our hiatus lasted almost 6 years so most artists who contributed before have probably moved on by now.

I made the album using Renoise Tracker, so it's NOT like the stuff you're used to hearing from me. I've spent most of this year working on the album so it would be cool if you would check it out. If you're interested in Goa/Psy that is. Album can be streamed on youtube or downloaded from bandcamp (name your price).

  5. Hello everyone, plato here.

I just bought a new computer and can now record video again (the CPU was completely wrecked on my last one and I haven't had an income until recently), so I've rebooted my behind the scenes series on youtube. There was only one OC ReMix related entry on there (my super metroid remix) when my CPU went to sh-- a few years back, but I uploaded the next one in line yesterday after installing OBS. I have more stuff planned now that I can actually DO interesting stuff again, but one should never announce something unless it's done. I am using the "single to promote upcoming finished album" clause of the rules here, because the remixes I will be posting in the near future are all done and already posted on OC ReMix. DERP.

My life came to a halt when this happened, taking on more jobs as a producer was impossible and I was pretty bored with having to pre-render tracks when mixing with VST. Anyhoo, here's for the future.

  6. As I submitted my first remix in late 2007, which was posted in 2008 I was not on your CD, but it made me realize that it's been 10 years, holy hell. And yes, indeed; A big thank you to all the veterans who inspired me to submit in the first place. pre-2008 ocr shaped me and my later contributions. I still remember the first time I found an OC ReMix on ... hrm *cough* dc++.

  7. Sure! It's the main battle music (not castle) that plays in woods, fields & caves. It hasn't been remixed a lot (despite being quite catchy imo).
And the zelda 1 reference is on purpose, I've included it in all my zelda remixes so far (in one way or another) The arp isn't included in the source, so it's my take on the chord progression.
And yes, I understood what you meant with the abrupt cut at the end, I consciously set the master volume to 00 for that effect.

you've gotta have it a little plain so the actual work is more appreciated.

that's an interesting point, I didn't think of it like that. I have a thing for music that's a bit mechanical and "naked", though, as you said. :)

The first few seconds of intro, on first listen, sounded really... naked? But the moment the beat starts to switch and filter, I'm settled.

0:31- sounds like you accidentally had a channel active with the single drum play that isn't connected to anything else in that passage; I was expecting drums to start playing from filter, up to full strength. What you have at 0:53 is fine, but if 0:31 isn't a mistake, maybe something can be done with it?

The only other thing I can think of is fading the ending a bit more; you start a fade then the song cuts off.

Hello! First off, thanks for the feedback! 0:31 was not a mistake, it's all as it should be. It's a halftime, single iteration of the main beat, maybe just to troll the listener a little and keep it interesting :P

I don't know what you mean by naked, could you elaborate? Like, lack of reverb or modulation?

The fading was also on purpose, I wanted it to cut off abruptly, since the entire track is so short I felt like a long outro would feel out of place.

  9. Hello! This is a remix that I just posted on SoundCloud and submitted to OCR.
It started out as a plain Jenova remix, but after messing around with it and adding some harmonic layering from Find Your Way (FF8) onto the chords and started messing with the chord coloring, it sounded cool enough to me so I added a section that is more centered around that source in the middle of the track. What do you think? Do the sources work well together?

    Cheers,

    Plato

  10. Hey guys n gals!

This tune started out as a test, after I had played a riff on my guitar, i wanted to hear what it would sound like with a beat underneath it.

Later turned it into a full tune.

    Cheers!

  11. Hello again, OCR.
Finished off 2016 with a new progressivesque chiptune yesterday called Influx.
It revolves around a single chord line, which forced me to be creative with progression and arrangement variations.
I enjoy doing that kind of stuff, which you might already know, just to see how far you can push something simple and repetitive.

Happy New Year! Here's to a 2017 full of music.

The instrument work for this track was loud, and strange. It almost completely eliminates any sense of dread from the original version of this track. Even if you’re not familiar with the Super Metroid soundtrack, I still wouldn’t recommend it. Too much happening all at once. None of it very soothing to me, nor is it anything I would want to jam to at a club.

Well, it's neither meant to be dreadful, soothing or being jammed to at a club, so you got those down. Fair points, if experiment just for experiment's sake isn't your thing, then so be it; none of my mixes will probably be interesting to you, because that's what I usually enjoy doing.

  13. Hello again!
This time I'm posting a track that I've worked on for a few years on and off, but was never really happy with the mix until very recently (thanks new monitors and headphones!).
It's a chiptunesque idm/edm dance track (as per my usual style) made entirely in Schism Tracker.

The title is a bit lengthy, I know XD Probably my longest title to date.

    Anyhoo, here it is! Enjoy!

Good stuff; builds very nicely from a simple intro into something grander. Would totally fit in a game, IMO.

Thanks :) Glad you liked it, man.

This is cool! I wasn't feeling it right away, but as it starts evolving I got into it. This really would sound interesting with traditional instruments I think. Definitely sounds like something that could be in an adventure RPG or something.

Thanks! Yeah, as stated, it was written on piano. I'm not sure if chiptune was a perfect fit, but hey - at least I tried. :P

  15. Hey Guys/Gals!
Posted a weird chiptune yesterday on my soundcloud. Since it's not part of a bigger release or album I'm posting about it here. :)
It's just a short thing i put together in schism tracker. I wrote the piece on piano originally but I wanted to know if it could be "chipified".

I might record the original and post it as well at some point? No idea.
Anyway, hope you like it. :)

    Cheers,
    Jonas
