  1. I wonder how he gets the "camera" to follow only one Mario. In other words, why are there not multiple background instances the way there are multiple Marios and enemies?

I guess he's just using the sprite layer and not the 4 background layers.

But yes, this is very cool and informative. :-) As he said, it gives us the best of both worlds: the perfect run and the humor of all the attempts.

  2. I do remember the off-air television in TV channels, and that is pretty ancient.

You mean before they just went to paid programming during the late-night hours?

7AM Saturday morning Star-Spangled Banner FTW.

    But back on topic:

It still jarrs me to hear the PS1 and Saturn described as "old-school." I suppose it's okay if these kids never grew up with old systems, but I know that it's never to late to enjoy them later in life--even if they're seen as a different type of "fun."

I only played the MegaMan series, Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger and Yoshi's Island and beat SMB2 during my college years--and loved them all.:< I'm currently working my way through the GBA remakes of Final Fantasy 1-5.

Finally, I extend my sympathy to all of those who grew up in the pre-NES era, while the rest of us are talking about 8 and 16-bit systems. I suppose how I'll know how that feels all too soon...

  3. I think at most 5 people in this thread own a DS flashcart.

I mostly use mine to load my GBA flashcart though. :P

    *raises hand slowly...*

    But mine is a SuperCard.

At MAGFest I saw 2 or 3 DSs that had white cartridges in them with a black rectangle inside. You know what that means...

Edit: Speaking of homebrew, I just got the new jEnesisDS--the first Genesis emulator WITH SOUND!

I'm also immensely enjoying QuakeDS right now.

  4. CD is not to be trifled with, and I'll defend the US soundtrack to the end.

I like both the Japanese and US soundtracks. IMO the US soundtrack is better to play the game with and the JP soundtrack stands better on its own (probably one of my favorite video game soundtrack of all time).

I still would have preferred both soundtracks on the Gamecube rerelease though...

And also, am I the only one who likes the Sonic R soundtrack--in all its cheesiness? :|

  5. Garian is PLAYER #2, Paul (One of the top guys of MAG) is STAFF #3.

That someone else is Shael Riley

    Also shawnphase

You took a picture of the prosti-tots.

Yeah, sorry about all that. I'm terrible with names and faces...

Also, thanks for the audio, Kroze. As I said during the set, Shael Riley is a regular Scatman

  6. Admittedly, the first case of each game babies you, but by the time you reach the end of game 1 case 2, you'll be hooked (or you'll know that you won't like it, but that won't happen, right?)

Game 1, case 2 was my least favorite in the series thus far. Kinda traumatizing IMO (well not really, but you know what I mean), and the characters were just annoying.

  7. Haha, it's really good.

Feb 19 ? Ok, I'll get an US copy.

(as for Doulifée I suppose >_>)

Wow, I'm going to have to rush to finish up Phoenix Wright T&T then! I'm still on the 2nd part of case 2.

(curse you Capcom for making these cases so in-depth and rewarding!)
