  1. Good news: I managed to sell my Supercard DS ONE with memory card at MAGFest, so you can take that off the list.

I still have my black DS Lite and Supercard Lite flashcart available. PM me for more info and to make an offer.

I also managed to find a copy of Ikaruga for the GameCube, so you can take that off the list too, Prophet :-)

  2. Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Jamspace Blog

*sigh*, with so much going on with panels and gaming, not to mention good ol' socializing, it's always inevitable that I miss some of the best of JamSpace... But at least it's on the Internet for all eternity

In any case thank you all for making this my 3rd MAGFest the best one yet! Definitely had some great times and got to get to know all of you a little better.

Thanks also for tolerating the DJs in JamSpace Saturday night; it was all very last minute and as it's been said, after the big JS events move into the concert hall next year there will be a lot more jamming. As for my 15-odd-minute set, I'll probably do what I did last year and re-record and host it within a week.

I promised BGC that I'd have my pictures up soon so look for them this week too, probably on Facebook.

I'm home and PMD is setting in :(

Now begins the countdown until next year...

    I hear ya...

I saw the countdown scroll in the JamSpace room listed some obscene number of hours until the next one...

Hmm, maybe I'll try next year...

    Maybe.

Not maybe; you WILL be there!

  3. LAWL yeah, i can't wait! I'm staying with jill and andy

Yeah, stay with the engaged couple, that'll be fun...

Anyway, I finally got my new toy, a KORG NanoPad, in the mail today; just in time! Anyone know how to work it? Because I sure won't have the time to read the manual between now and then; I haven't even packed yet!

  4. After having met nearly three years ago at the first New York City meetup (Winter 2005), I proposed to the lovely Jillian Goldin. (aka pixietricks!) The deed was done at the same restaurant where we went to breakfast the morning after the meetup had ended; it was also where we ate the day we started officially dating, on July 4th, 2006.

    YAY! :-D:nicework:

But rather than pictures of said meetup, I can do one better (thanks Jose for editing for YT):

  5. Yes, one of his best reviews IMO.

But Re: the not-so-bonus end video:

"Look at us! We're being crazy with guitar prephrials! And destroying videogame systems! Yee-ha!

Let's show some random FPSs (of the shit-gray variety that Yahtzee hates)! With BLOOD everywhere! You kids like blood, right?"

...I'm tempted to watch that show (if it's out yet), but then again not really. Looks like someone's been watching too much G4 & Spike TV.

Edit: So true what he said about Sonic being an aging rock star; lol.

  6. I was actually going to comment on this myself. Kanye West is a really creative producer. He specifically said with this album that he doesn't care about sales - and his fans have generally reacted poorly, as I understand it. He doesn't care that other people use Autotune - he heard it and said he liked the sound, so he's using it. I like that attitude a lot. No stereotypical hip hop claps, kicks, and snares here. Just unique production.

What? Kanye ego-less? Who would have thought?

    j/k

Anyway, I may have already mentined this, but when I first heard the singles "Love Lockdown" & "Heartless" in 30-second-previews on iTunes I was all WTF? :dstrbd: But after I got to hear the whole song I do agree with zircon that it's creative & good production.

I really miss getting to preview a whole song in stores like the Virgin MegaStores, but that's another story.

The album reivew in the Village Voice really put it in perspective I think:

It's also his superstar-freakout album: his Low, his Trans, his Kid A. The one where he decides that frozen remoteness is the only thing that makes sense.

    ...

Kanye is also the first of the post-T-Pain masses to use AutoTune as something other than an ear-grabbing gimmick. On Heartbreak, it's a distancing effect, an opportunity to push his emo bellyaching to spectral levels.

BTW, who saw Kanye West's performance on SNL last night? Weird, no? With those giant video screens, silhouettes and crazy dancing... I liked it.

  7. Oy vey. It's looking like I might not even make it to MAGFest this year. I've been to every one since M3 (including my ridiculous journey through a blizzard to get to M4,) and I was REALLLLY looking forward to it, but the fates seem to be conspiring against me. It sucks.

    :-(/10characters

  8. Thanks *so much* for all the nice comments, guys! Didn't know there were people around here who know my really old stuff, that's amazing. I'll definitely keep everyone here posted when I do new stuff.

I remember finding your song "Hello Daddy" by chance like 5 years ago and I still love it

I'm sorry to say I haven't heard anything else until now, but it's cool to hear your various styles.

I was considering doing a more DJ-able edit of the Still Alive mix, probably two versions, one with a beat intro, and an "Intro Mix" with just a beat outro. Any takers?

    Yes'm! :pretzel:

If anyone has any ideas for promoting the mix also, that'd be cool. I have a Youtoooob video here which I'm trying to get more views on - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=UcZME06Msww

    twitter maybe?

  9. Well, Grammy nominations are out and guess who's on top.

Lil' Wayne--whom I still don't understand why he's so great; decent maybe but not classic--has 8 nods, including Album of the Year.

He's competing with, among others, Jay-Z's "American Gangster" (which wasn't bad IMO, thouhg I still prefer this) and Lupe Fiasco's "The Cool," for Rap Album.

Coldplay has 7 nominations; make of that what you will.

Oh, and "Paper Planes" was nominated for Record of the Year...

  10. ... if you want "good", this is not cutting it.

She can't sing nor rap, her voice is unpleasant, and from hearing this whole thing together, it wasn't organized to sound wonderful; it was a mockery created to sound sell-able. You know, I now can appreciate Soulja Boy (lol), 'cuz... this? Uh-uh, not good.

The industry doesn't care; they will do anything, as I have just proven, to brainwash and gyp the teens of America

I liked MIA's first album (2005's Arular) a lot. Electro-meets-dancehall style and creative all around IMO.

Her current one has a few good tracks ("Bamboo Banga" and "Jimmy" are my favorites), but it has more filler that didn't move me and I don't like "Paper Planes" much at all. Gives people the wrong idea about her... Add I will agree with you that the emphasis on her voice in that track is annoying.

  11. I'm still waiting for this autotune-fest to end

    Yes.

Although I'm afraid it'll be like the boyband craze and once it's over be replaced by something even worse out of the blue (in this case, rap as pop music).

I hate auto-tune because it killed the last of any sense of emotion from the songs. Just listen to 70s R&B (I like Stevie Wonder particularly) and you'll see how big the contrast is. Not all songs have to be raw (anyone who knows me knows I love electronic music), but songs that formerly would have had it now don't.

Kanye's newest work is listenable to me because he still manages to infuse emotion into it. I still wouldn't buy it the way I did The College Dropout and Graduation, but, let's just say I listened to these songs all the way through.

    [Kanye]'d be fine if he:

    1. Try to sing

Hey, he sang on "Slow Jamz" on The College Dropout and was halfway decent--for a genre parody anyway.

The worst of it? My roommates and I participated in Apollo Night (a talent show based on diversity and minority performance) with Dylan's All Along the Watchtower and we were booed off..

It just occurred to me that you should have RickRoll'd them

At least I would have ROFL'd.

Ice Cube ft. Snoop Dogg - Go to Church

Not anything amazing, just pretty catchy :)

    Make money off crackas

    HAHAHA :lmassoff:

    So true...

  12. Selling the following lightly-used Nintendo DS flash carts:

 SuperCard DS-One In box + 2GB SanDisk MicroSD (the maximum size you can use with it)

 SuperCard Lite (for DS Lite) (white) + 1GB SanDisk MicroSD

For more info, see http://eng.supercard.cn/manual/dsone/ and http://eng.supercard.cn/manual/sc_lite.htm respectively

I'll sell them either individually or together. I may even throw in a MicroSD USB reader

The SuperCard Lite will require the patching of GBA (DS too if you have a PassKey) Roms to work, but the DS-One takes files directly and works like a charm. The SuperCard name isn't as big as the others (R4, Cyclo, etc.), but I really liked my set.

    Homebrew ftw!

Edit: Okay, I'm selling the black DS Lite too--either separately or included with one or both of the cards. The left button is a little stuck and needs to be pressed firmly, but otherwise works fine! It's already got a screen protector and I'll throw in a carrying case free.

  13. Hey all.

Benzo and I are trying to carpool since we're both in Pittsburgh, but I'll be down there for New Year's Eve and he doesn't know if he'll be yet. We'll hopefully work something out.

But more importantly, I'm still looking to secure a room/floorspace and --this just in--I'll likely have a guest with me for the weekend (Friday night-Sunday).

    --And it's a GIRL!

    Can anyone accommodate us?

  14. super mariooooooooooo rpg! it is the only game just for me.

i also bought mario 64, zelda oot, mario 3, zelda original, and am def buying cave story when it comes out

You also have Punch-Out. I played it at your apartment when I was over for a meetup.

    Also, SMRPG Song ftw.

  15. Hey, I've been thinking for awhile: I have access to a few good used videogame stores in my area. I've recently seen Okami (PS2) for $20 and various NES MegaMans for $10-15, among other deals.

I'd be willing to buy and mail whatever I can find to anyone provided they pay the price of the game and shipping. Should I PM people who want games that I have access to?

Also, something I'm looking for: Ikaruga for the Gamecube. I've heard so much about it, yet I have yet to see a physical copy anywhere.

  16. Yes, I believe Windows 7 is said to use less memory, have faster bootup times, utilize multiple processors better, and run less unnecessary services.

    Ha... ha...

    HAAA HAAA HAAAA HAAAAAA HAAAAAAA!!

This is Microsoft we're talking about here, right?

Well... I don't mind XP, Vista, or W7. The only thing pissing me off are the FUCKING MAC ADS. When will this stop? We get it, if you make up BS, you can attack any company... Hopefully, W7 will still outsell any Mac OS and one day Apple will realize that Microsoft is doing that without bombarding with ads.

Yeah, as a Mac user myself I never did like the "Mac vs. PC" ads. If you want to make your point, make your point, but don't be smug about it and don't belittle the competition...

  17. I actually thought it was a pretty good list.

Except that every song on there wasn't from the Neverhood soundtrack. And Jet Force Gemini.

Wow, how could I have POSSIBLY forgotten The Neverhood soundtrack??

That soundtrack was the first thing I ever bought online and I love almost every song on there...
