  1. One of my favorites that I learned by ear was Brahm's Intermezzo in A Major, Op. 118 no. 2. I only learned the middle section where it's three against two between the hands, but it's a wonderful section I like to play whenever I'm having a crappy day. I should learn the entire piece one of these days, but I'm pathetic at reading piano music. On the clarinet I can read far better, but I also enjoy learning jazz music by ear. One of my favorites I learned was Take 5, a definite classic.
  2. I can still understand why a 32-bit version would be developed. 64-bit is slowly but surely getting adopted as the new standard, but your average user who surfs the web and e-mails won't really need 64-bit for quite some time. I do agree with djpretzel that it would be great for sample libraries, though. Being able to load a lot of samples into RAM would be sweet. I'm also certain the marketers will eventually make the big push for consumers to go 64-bit, if they haven't already.
  3. It also hit me that I probably could have sent myself a message, mark it as read, then it would be fixed. DUH!! Oh well.
  4. Except that my inbox is totally empty, so I have no messages to mark.
  5. I recently ordered and anticipate the arrival of the HP Pavilion HDX laptop: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4041 Some of the specs I changed during the ordering process, but the pictures give you an idea. It's a beast with a 20.1" screen! The specs are quite impressive, but not much is mentioned about its onboard sound. That tells me it's probably the usual chip (AC97, Realtek, etc.). My arrangements will be primarily with sample libraries, and I might record myself playing the clarinet. I found the thread that zircon posted regarding which sound card to get, so that'll be a good read, but I also wondered about ASIO4ALL (http://www.asio4all.com). Has anyone had success with it?
  6. Your thoughts? http://www.pianoteq.com/ The price is steep, though. Ouch!
  7. Now that's odd. You have one killer of a rig in terms of hardware and are still having problems. That has to be software related. PLAY looked interesting, but doesn't it require the use of a USB dongle that must always be plugged in? If so, I'll skip it. I never was a fan of dongles, especially since I do use all my USB ports for other tasks.
  8. Did you apply updates to everything? I had a weird bug with EWQLSO Silver with Sonar 2.2 (yep, I still use that old warhorse, though Sonar 7 has intrigued me) where MIDI OFF events were completely whacked. EWQLSO Silver would process them later than what was in Sonar. After applying the update, it works perfectly now. See if updating works if you haven't tried that yet.
  9. Onlygarvalwyn, Can you shoot me the source or the website where I can find the original track? I must be blind like a bat, for I can't find it, other than the MIDI file that was linked by Mewtation.
  10. Damn, I hate it when I have the wrong version of the NSF file. The version I had was incorrect. Track 18 was indeed track 19, which has been done, and track 18 is out there. 19 was the only one that intrigued me. Anyway, I've decided not to participate. Sorry.
  11. I just wrote to Rexy asking her if I could do an orchestral arrangement of track 18 from DW3. That track intrigued me the most.
  12. This is the final version and have since abandoned any hopes of updating it. I'm not familiar with the game, but I'll have to listen about a third way through my mix to understand what you're referencing. Do you happen to know the track number in the NSF file? Anyway, thanks for the comment.
  13. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22389614/ His Christmas album was among my favorite releases. RIP, Oscar Peterson. You'll be missed terribly.
  14. Greetings from Iraq!! Yes, I'm currently deployed in good o' Iraq near the town of Tikrit, and it's been one hell of a hoot!! Fortunately, where I'm stationed is relatively safe compared to some areas here, and I feel damn lucky. I really could have ended up in a bad place. Anyway, some time ago I completed Rygar Megamix that I had hoped to release to VGMix upon its grand opening before I departed for Iraq, but deployment came first. So I went ahead and released it to the public in case I couldn't access MP3 sites from Iraq (I can't from government computers). Now I'm informing the OCR community of this release. It was an off-and-on project, leaning more towards off, but I finally was motivated enough to complete it. I was inspired after arranging track 2 with Gorgonian, so I decided to arrange several tracks in this medley. The order is tracks 1, 2, 10, 4, 5, and 3. I must give thanks to those who gave me positive and negative criticisms over my previous releases over at VGMix, and I took them to heart. I also must give thanks to the composers of the past and present, Holst and Horner just to name a couple of my many favorites. I was hoping to submit it for judging here at OCR, but my release is double the limit allowed, so this method will have to do. In any event, I hope you enjoy this mix. Thanks in advance for listening! http://www.tindeck.com/audio/my/xdla/Jago---Rygar-Megamix
