I've skimmed the arguments here, and to be honest, your arguments are as weak as wet paper. Also, generalizing an entire genre and those who sing it based on the few who are most famous for it is never a good idea.

I've played a bit of it, and all I can say is this. It's Dragon Quest meets Final Fantasy. Item limits, no aiming (like in groups of enemies), view of foes from the front... just like Dragon Quest. It's also pretty fun.
