  1. Sorry... I guess I didn't quite know what I was starting when I made the original comments...
  2. I'm doing the REVERSE DJP! Instead of my head rocking forward, it's retracting back into my neck. Anyway, yes, questions for the composers are welcome! We'll do our best to include everything, though we don't know what the interviews are gonna be like until they happen. Are those cheez-wiz or compressed air canisters?
  3. Tell you what... there's a really simple way to resolve this: just trust me.
  4. But we only roll once per show! GAHHH, your math has nothing to do with the Russian ReMix Roulette! Aside from the first show, each time you roll the die, it's not the first time you've rolled it. That's why you have to count all the other die rolls.
  5. btw, the reason the numbers are the way they are is because you have to factor in the combined possibility of the multiple rolls (aka every roll that you've done) into the equation. The only time you have a 1:6 chance with the die is on the first roll. After the first roll, you have to double the odds for each roll you make (1:12 / 1:24 / 1:48 / 1:96 / 1:192 / etc.). It's simple permutation...
  6. Cool. Can't wait to hear it...
  7. So, will there be a Podcast this week?
  8. Is that supposed to be the diamond in the rough?
  9. Okay, I got it figured out: http://www.warnerpacific.edu/personal/kkeyn/music/Abadoss_-_At_the_End_of_All_Things.zip
  10. My brother is a professional latin/jazz guitarist, so when I say this, I want you to know that I have spent a good deal of time on my credibility for such a comment. This is absolutely and perfectly in line with the style and I think you did an incredible job here. This is now one of my favorites. Wonderful work!
  11. In addition to being Norwegian, I also have a good deal of Irish and Welsh heritage in me. As such, I have a natural inclination toward Celtic music or pieces with a Celtic influence, which I can definitely hear in your mix. It seems a little short, but I still like it.
  12. I must say that I'm really impressed with this mix. To a certain extent, it's actually a pretty simple mix, but I don't think that it needs to be complex to work. Particularly, I like the bassline and the synth background. It adds a funk/Stevie Wonder feel to it that's really nice. This is one of those pieces that you can't help but move to. Seriously, one of my favorites. Good work!
  13. It doesn't work. Finale can't open it. Says its an invalid file type. You have to have Finale 2006 or better in order to open the file. Anything prior to 2006 won't recognize the file format... I know. I have Finale NotePad 2006, which shouldn't make a difference. I've opened files created in every version of Finale before. Just won't work. Right-Click Save As, and the like. Won't work. It's almost like the link is bad, or something. Interesting... the file is definitely on the server, at that URL, but I can't open it either... I'll see what I can do...

  15. Nevermind on the hosting aspect... Anyway, here's the Finale 2006 file for Chrono Trigger "At the End of All Things" OC ReMix: http://www.warnerpacific.edu/personal/kkeyn/music/Chrono_Trigger_-_The_End_of_All_Things_ver_2_17.MUS
  16. If someone's willing to host it somewhere, I have my Finale file of "At the End of All Things"... it's Finale 2006, though...
  17. I think it should probably be mentioned that if you do not have the same version of Finale or higher (in year) you won't be able to open the file...
  18. This piece is quickly becoming one of my favorite remixes. From what I've heard on this site, this piece is one of the closest to being of professional quality. Although, I've heard that scratch sample in a lot of different place, but it doesn't detract from the song, so it's okay. I am very fond of the texture that you've created on this piece. Absolutely a wonderful job. Keep it up.
  19. If the voice were a little more wobbly, it'd almost remind me of David Bowie...
  20. My soul is now content knowing that someone has made a remix using Uillean pipes. I'm highly impressed with this piece and I would suggest making MANY MANY MORE LIKE IT! Anyway, I appreciated that, aside from using the pipes, you used them extremely well. You evoked much of what the instrument has to offer. Please, by all means continue to incorporate them and explore some of the other aspects it has. Keep in mind that while it's timbre is better suited for long sustained tones than the Scottish bagpipes, it still has the capacity for complex and intricate runs and reels. Well, now that I've pumped that up (no pun intended), I just want to reiterate how much I liked the piece. Great work. {edit} - I suppose there's no need, but I just wanted to meantion that the Uillean pipes are my favorite instrument...
  21. I have to say that I am really impressed by this song. In a way, it reminds me a lot of the Bohiemian Rhapsody. Anyway, great job.
  22. Russell, once again you have demonstrated an outstanding mastery of your craft. This type of orchestral is truly my favorite type of arrangement. It's really awesome. It didn't sound like FF: Spirits Within so much as Super Mario World's castle or fortress music (especially around the softer arpeggios). Overall, I really enjoyed this piece. It is a wonderful arrangement. Kudos!
  23. There are some songs that defy their genres. For example, I totally hate most disco (that can be taken more than one way), yet "Stayin' Alive" by the Beegees is completely awesome. Or like how I completely hate Jewel... oh wait... I don't like any of her songs, nevermind... Anyway, I really like this mix. I enjoyed the concept of this mostly. You took what in any other context would suck and turned it into something really cool. For example, the vocals (if they were outside of this track) would be a joke, but they fit so perfectly. Well done.
  24. It's been a while since I've had a really solid trance that was really good in my collection. I dare say that I missed that and thanks to you, Suzu, I now feel complete. Now down to the critiques... I like the slow introduction of the drums before the synth orgy. Don't take this the wrong way, but it felt like it would fit so well into an 80's movie, and that's so cool! I can almost hear this on Ladyhawk or Romancing the Stone or something (although, Ladyhawk had a really shitty soundtrack). I like how you manage to keep the flow moving and you never let it stagnate. That's often one of the biggest complaints I have with trance pieces, and I'm glad you haven't committed that grievous act. As far as the things I didn't like, I would have preferred that the synth come in a little cleaner. I like it all the same, but that would have been my choice. I think overall, there's not a whole lot that I don't like about this piece. It's one of those pieces where I say to myself, "I friggin' hate this genre, but this piece makes it all better!"... Great work, Suzu!
  25. I must say that I really appreciate this mix. It's one of the very few that I've heard in a while that really takes the time to develop the melody. There's good parts and parts that I could live without, but in no part can I say that I would take out. The piece flows, it holds together, and it generally stirs emotion really well. When I listen to classical music, of any kind, I expect this level of skill. Anything less is not worth the time sifting through all the problems. Solid, solid, solid composition, and I really have to hand it to Mr. Russell Cox... If I could give a piece of this calibur any advice, the only thing I can think of is that in some of the quieter, softer parts, add a little more detail in the melody, so that it's less likely that a person will drift off or become uninterested (which is difficult to do in this piece). Other than that, excellent work! Exceptional!
