  1. i can't goron (i'll goron) (Goron City) This one took a LOOT longer than it should have. In fact I had a draft ready way back in November. Turned out to be a pricklier pear than I thought (although the two drafts I came up with before this final version are quite different and fairly interesting in their own right, and I might get around to posting them as bonus tracks at some point) One of the weird quirks of this project is that the original material I like least ends up being the most fun to work with - that was the case was this until the very end, when each step forward was like splitting hairs. Anyway it's done now, hopefully the fun I had with it comes across, and hopefully I'll have the fairy music ready for Friday
  2. Good Night Tune - Zelda's Lullaby Good Night Tune (Zelda's Lullaby) I'd apologize for the long delay but I'm guessing you guys are used to it by now! But yeah, Zelda's Lullaby was tough, look forward to a steady flow once again
  3. Jeez guys, I'm really at a crawl here, sorry. I'll be up to it again very soon, no worries
  4. Thanks, that's actually really good to hear - to be honest I thought I was regressing! Although my personal favorite is still the first track I posted, Kakariko - sloppiness be damned, it was the only one that really nailed what I was going for. But it's still satisfying to give up that perfectionism that always keeps me from finishing things and just be like "damn it, this is it" and send it out into the world. However, anyone is welcome to criticize any little niggling things - these are WIPs after all! And yeah I've noticed the clipping, especially on Seven Years and I plan on going back and fixing it at some point (I'm always awful at that last 1%). As for input onto my process - some things I think would take away from the magic! but no I'll go into more detail at some point if there's interest (I'd actually like to make at least one post where I delve into my dark seedy past - starting in 2003 when I got ahold of this "giant zelda project" idea that has apparently not left me alone even after nearly a decade)
  5. I know we're not supposed to talk about individual tracks, but lets get real here - this one is far and away the best
  6. Alright we're not gettin that third one tonight because it's Zelda's freakin Lullaby but that just means we'll have another lovely double dip on Wednesday. Maybe with Fairy Fountain or Goron City or some such
  7. The Sierpinski Sieve (Great Deku Tree ( ) and Legend of Hyrule ( )So just what is a Sierpinsky Sieve? Click through and look at the track art to find out! This one was a real doozy... one of the first I started on and yet if I didn't have this thread I don't know if I'd ever have finished it. Really tough to give it any kind of comprehensible form or structure without just copying the original notes by rote, which I tend to want to avoid. Still, it has a few of my favorite moments thus far - I'm particularly proud of the the viola transition between the bassoons and the Legend of Hyrule business. As for bringing back the Deku Tree.. that wasn't originally in the cards, but I had all these unsued scraps lying around from when I was working on "Curses" and figured why the hell not. The tune appears a good three times in the first hour of the game, why not give it a special place. It also goes with "Legend of Hyrule" both chronologically and in the sense that they are two of the few "story" tracks that only ever play over cutscenes.
  8. Most likely! Among other things, I guess. Gotta get it as available as possible, no sense in anything else. I've floated some ideas about making it an official OCR album, waiting to hear back from the Deciders There will be a way on Bandcamp to download all the available tracks as an album in a few days. Since yeah we're getting to the point where it's a hassle to download them all individually. Anyway, still hacking away at the Legend of Hyrule. Can't tell if what I'm doing is great or idiotic, but you guys'll get to be the judges soon enough!
  9. Ok way late, but lets get going, hope to have three for you today, the first being: 5/30/12[retcon] - Avoidant Rhapsody (Hyrule Castle Courtyard ( ))
  10. I have very little experience with the judges and very little knowledge of the site standards. If it were me, I'd pass it, and I'd say it's better than the thing I got passed 7 years ago. But again I am no expert!
  11. Alright it's a day late but I've got Hyrule Castle Courtyard/Mini Game theme coming down the pipeline Edit: Oh damn am I two days late? I think I'll just have to double dip tomorrow cause it's way way late now DOuble edit: Oh no now I'm missing Friday too - It's happening again!!! Double dip tomorrow then, it'll be worth it.
  12. Missed yesterday cause I made the mistake of working on two tunes at the same time. SO today we'll either end up with Legend of Hyrule or Hyrule Castle Courtyard/Mini Game. We shall see!
  13. Repetition is a form of change - Brian Eno
  14. I love whenever anyone uses SFX creatively. Nice work! Fun, cleanly done.
  15. http://zazmusic.bandcamp.com/track/alexanders-courage Alexander Courage is the composer of the original Star Trek theme. If you're familiar with it, you'll soon hear why I honored him in the title (other candidates were: Gene Rodenberry, The Roving Gambler, Nobuou Uemetsu Mason Williams, Mark Moutherbaugh, Phil Spector, Esquivel, and ABBA)
  16. Whoops slipped my my mind entirely! And thanks.
  17. I guess there's a nasty bit of distortion in the piano towards the end, I'll try to bounce out a new one this morning
  18. Seven Years! The Title Screen 5/28/12 - Seven Years (Title Screen ( ))Fun fact: Seven Years is not only the amount of time Link spends in stasis in OoT, it's also roughly the amount of time since my arrangement Prelude was posted to the site. And here I am seven years later making another "Prelude" of sorts. It was also seven years roughly between Prelude being posted and the release of OoT. So Seven Years might be a good name for the project itself, come to think of it.. Another fun fact: The title screen music comes from the Warp Whistle tune in SMB3
  19. http://zazmusic.bandcamp.com/track/tectonic-levitation The floating continent! It's loud and distorted and kind of disjointed. Kind of like what it would be on a floating continent! Maybe. Anyway enjoy I guess.. IF YOU DARE
  20. Big night tonight - TItle Screen on the way! So it'll be here even if I have to stay up all night gettin it right
  21. Yeah I understand, I hope I didn't come off as defensive. This arrangement is definitely more conservative than what is usually posted on OCR, you're definitely right in that.
  22. I suppose it depends on what you mean by almost identical.. while I kept very close to the spirit of the original piece, the only thing unchanged was the first bar (and even then the orchestration is different.) Granted many of the changes are subtle, but that's how I tend to like it. If anyone familiar with the original tune is interested in listening specifically for the changes I made, pay close attention to things like: the instrumentation, registration, rhythm, counterpoint, harmony, repetitions, layering, phrasing, and voicing. Granted I understand OCR in general tends to favor much more obvious changes, but it's a matter of taste I guess..
  23. The Gesthal Empire http://zazmusic.bandcamp.com/track/the-face-of-imperialism Enjoy!
  24. I'll handle some vanilla Smash Bros. tracks
  25. Yeah for sure! My Majora's Mask tracks will be your Majora's Mask tracks (again assuming I'm up for it...)
