Remixer Name: TO Remix Title: Iron Demon Game: Final Doom Original: tntdead2 Site URL: www.orichalcon.co.nr Email: the_orichalcon@hotmail.com Remix URL: Please right click and save as. This is an 'acid style' remix I've been told, I used volume control on some synths and pads to bring out the stuttering effect. I hope you like it. There aren't any issues that I'm aware of. So I hope you like it. Pretty heavy mix with controlled distortion on the drums. Enjoy, ~TO

Hey djp, Got another IronMix for ya. This one was for IMC LE (Lite Edition), the same contest that produced DarkeSword's "Party in the Snowland." Rainbow Road was always a sort of trippy course, so I decided to make this arrangement sound a little "out there" and reverbed it out the wazoo. I've been told that it's very sleep-inducing. In fact, it's so mellow that apparently GrayLightning has taken a pretty big liking to it. So this one's dedicated to you, my New Age friend. Thanks goes to MC for rendering, as usual. You're the bizzest, man. MP3: Dhsu ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Surf the Web up to FIVE TIMES FASTER! OCR01162 - Final Fantasy VII "Prayer"
djpretzel replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
1. Not everything has to be quantized. In this case, it certainly would NOT have been appropriate. I know you make YOUR music that way, and it works for YOU, but you have this age-old habit of prescribing what you like and what works for you for everyone else. 2. Disagree. Listen to a lot of guitar-based music. 3. It's an arrangement in the sense of the aspects I clearly took the time to enumerate in the write-up. 4. As to whether it should have gone to the panel - there are always going to be instances where you guys approve things I might not have, and vice versa. I'm glad this mix is on the site. It's different. There has to be room in both our realms of evaluation, which take everything else into account, that still allows for that. And I listened to the original side by side, like I said. -

Maybe I listen to a lot more guitar-based music than others(?), but it seems to me the tone here is not at all unheard of and similar processing/articulation shows up in a good deal of classic rock... it's one thing to say you feel a different tone would have been more appropriate, but some of the comments here have tended towards implying that this just isn't how a guitar should ever sound, and, well... it would seem to me from my particular background and tastes that there are plenty of critically acclaimed, professional examples to the contrary. I've also heard a boatload of guitar samples, ranging from convincing to Prot's Uematsu patch, and for this to have been synthetic would have made it one of the most if not the most impressive emulations of an electric, up there with Jan Hammer's stuff. But oh well. -

OCR01171 - *YES* Metroid 'Kraid's Hideout'
djpretzel replied to djpretzel's topic in Judges Decisions
My big issue here was that the strings are... a little out of tune. Rarely would you find that sort of problem on multisamples, Mr. Asulin. You've been served. -

Tux Racer - the official 'Annoyingly Happy' mix of Hadyn Lander's creation (a wacky song deserves a wacky name) - OC Remix - Hadyn Lander Though you're probably better off with the tagged version, so if all that doesn't work, just let me know and i'll see if i can mail it to you. _____________________________________________ So i was walking along through ocr's little slice of cyberspace one day when i came to the shocking realisation that, apart from Shael's groin-related music (and that space-harrier rap one i saw on the WIP boards ages back), there really weren't many (good) "fun" mixes on the site. Alright, so realisticly this little mix of mine isn't really anything comparible to that stuff - however, it still fits in a genre that my friends describe as "annoyingly Happy", and ocr could do with a little more of that So i took an 8-second looped song from a freeware game by the name of Tux Racer, sped up the tempo a little, completely improvised everything other than the weird piano/harp style lead, sampled from some really random sources, and mixed it all together into a three-minute fest of random upbeat... randomness, just for your enjoyment. Yeah yeah, i'm sure the judges will find it just a little sub-par and it probably wont get that far just because of it's name, but hey, it's worth a shot. On the WIP boards, it seemed that people either loved it or hated it (like a lot of my work), so yeah, i'm expecting some varied opinions. Just as a note, i'm fairly sure i no longer have the original flp file for this one (due to viruses and formatting and whatnot), so unfortunately i most likely wont be able to go back and work on it again if it doesn't make submission. Regardless, if you're going to vote no, detailed feedback is still great due to the fact it will still help me with future mixes Cheers guys, i hope you like it! ~Hadyn

Anyone up to tracking down the original and figuring out exactly what the heck is going on with this one? Interesting stuff... but... a game ReMix? -djp Hi! Here is a remix for your excellent site OC! It was made by me (Pex 'Mahoney' Tufvesson) and my friend Markus Schneider. "Sweet" was the original title, an old Commodore 64 tune made in 1987 by Johannes Bjerregaard. We added some lyrics, and now it is an orchestral tune about videogames in general, and what they may bring...! Remix by: Markus Schneider & Mahoney Website: http://mahoney.c64.org Email: None, please. It's on the website. (spam.... sucks!) Please tell me when you've downloaded it, so I can remove it! Have a noise night! --- Pex "Mahoney" Tufvesson http://mahoney.c64.org
