  1. If you're like me and use a 360 controller to play PC games, check out Joy2Key. This is a program I use for playing games that don't have gamepad support or games that have limited gamepad support.
    ^ This.

Been using Joy2Key both for playing games and making music for years. It's a lightweight and stable program. Highly recommended. :)

Here's hoping this awesome tribute to Rockman does great, so Capcom brings us moar.

'Darkstalkers x Mega Man' would be nice, but a 16-bit Mega Man X9 would be BOSS.

    One can dream.

  2. A bit late to the party, but happy 13th birthday to OCR. :)

This site broke me as much as it made me into the (slightly less lame but still pretty bad all things considered) musician I am today. I've met a lot of talented artists and good people along the way, a few of which I'm glad to consider friends, and a few others that tainted my journey half-way through. Working with/for some of the people/projects here gave me nightmares about music production and made me give up my dreams for a while, but I can't see myself going forward without keeping up with what has become my musical reality check. So cheers to djp and here's to many more years (decades?) of Overclocked ReMixes. ;)

  3. That's great news! :)
It gets better: the project proposal has been sent to OCR for eval/approval. ;)

Furthermore, I still have a surprise in store for you guys...

I was practically introduced to it via this project thread.. yup. Looking forwards to the finished album!
Wow, I couldn't be happier to see people checking Gunstar Heroes and NON's work as a result of this project.

Thanks a lot for the support Eino. :)

Everyone, please take note: the next check-in is set to February 10th 2013.

Good luck and don't forget to have fun with your arrangement. Stay aggressive!

  4. Alright, looks like most, if not all, remixers made it in time for the deadline. :)

And a lot of you are nearly done with your tracks, which means two things:

1-this project is well on track for Gunstar Heroes' 20th anniversary

2-it's time to formalize and send our project proposal to OCR

Thanks to everyone for your continued effort and support to this fun little project.

There are still a handful of open tracks that we'd love to see covered somehow.

Stay tuned for the next check-in deadline that will be announced shortly.

Oh, and a little surprise should be coming up soon, if all goes well.

  5. Did you get a chance to import/play the game Mirb? Is it good?

SE representatives said recently they were waiting for 'the right time' to localize this one, but I'm not sure what they're waiting for exactly considering how long the psp has been dead in US/EU territories. However, there's still a considerable amount of quality jRPG being published for the console, and with a lot of people clamoring for the good ole (read: not western) role playing, it's sad to see gems like Grand Knights History, SOL Trigger or Senjou no Valkyria 3 fade into obscurity.

Don't mind me though, as I'm proly the last person outside of japan who still use a PSP to play games on a regular basis. :-P

  6. the one for Be Aggressive and its website (which I REALLY need to get started on)
No worries. Your mix is almost done anyway, and the website won't be needed for quite a while.

Hopefully this helps lessen the burden on your shoulders so you can enjoy Christmas festivities.

As for AOC v6, I really wanted to join the fun again this year, but life's pretty bleak right now. We'll see...

  7. I knew it! You're the secret child of Noriko Matsueda and Takahito Eguchi, and this is in fact the soundtrack to the long awaited Racing Lagoon 2. :nicework:

Personal highlights include Wish 4 You (captivating), Mystery Tower Groove (soothing), Jazzy Travelin' Wagon (soulful) and Nameraka na Bresha (groovy).

The (intentional?) mid 90s hiphop references were right up my alley, with nods to the likes of The Pharcyde and Tribe Called Quest among others.

From a compositional standpoint you've made incredible progress, turning the sampling technique inside out and exploiting your strengths.

The beats bear your trademark-style and are jazzy as heck. Everything is flowing and it's just a pleasure to listen from start to finish.

Even forays into a more electronic sound like in Digitally Strange World manage to keep the groove steady and the emotional chords aplenty.

Mitsuto Suzuki seems to have been somewhat influential, which makes me wish you'd tackle the soundtrack of The 3rd Birthday sometime. ;)

Hard to believe this is your debut album, but here's to many more my friend, for this is solid gold.

Thanks for doing what you do best and for keeping at it. You're an inspiration. :)

  8. I did not get feedback from DusK
Well, I did my best to provide feedback for everyone, so let's hope this hasn't happened to others as well. If so please let me know asap guys.
I can wait on the Judges' crits. :)

I believe the eval team is a different one from the judge panel, but the idea remains the same. Obviously I can't tell you in advance what they will want, but since albums have to be tailored specifically for OCR, the staff is bound to request additional changes. So this is addressed to you as well as to everyone else on the project: be ready for the eventuality of having to make further tweaks past the feedback we gave you. ;)

  9. Anyway, sorry I've been a little more absent than I was planning on, stuff came up, and then more stuff, and then more stuff. I wanted to get another rendition of the track to you guys before the date, but I'll for sure be getting more hammered out by the next check-in. Just checking in before the check-in.
Don't worry Pete, you've made the last deadline and that's what matters. I'm not the kind of person to harass folks every five minutes for new wips.

So long as people remain punctual and/or let us know in advance where they stand, it's fine with me. And you just did, so everything is cool man. :)

@DusK/DjM: If you guys can send me feedback for my track, I'll try to have a finished version by next deadline. :)
Yo Alex, dunno if DusK ever got back to you with his crits, but I sent you my feedback on your latest wip a while back. Did you miss it or need me to resend it?

Aside from what I mentioned in the PMs, any further changes will depend on how the evaluation goes when we submit the project to OCR in a few weeks.

Rest assured that I will let you (and everyone else) know when we're at that point.

I'm getting Steven Slate drums in a few days.

So I'll be able to finalize my track hopefully. <3

Lucky you! Awesome, I can't wait to hear the result. Keep us in the loop Callum.
I missed the last deadline but I think I'll even finish my track before the current one :D
Roger that. Make sure to check back directly with DusK, since he's your handler in this case.
    Heeeey, where's mah Lufia track?
Please consider doing that kind of things via PM in the future, sir. Thanks.
  10. Oh yeah! Just finished it and that game was a blast.

It's from Klei Entertainment, the makers of Shank, so mind-blowing artwork & animation was to be expected. Though their take on stealth is a keeper for sure.

The game offers much more than it seems at first glance, with gameplay possibilities opening up drastically after completing a few stages and acquiring seals.

Most features are extremely well implemented and this is a case where game design serves the fun rather than arbitrarily constricting the player.

Story is standard fare overall, but there are a few twists that keeps it interesting, and even a few daring surprises near the end to spice things up.

The clever level design brings plenty of variety, yet the addition of challenge rooms made for an even more engaging experience imo.

Sound design was also excellent, with immersive ambient songs and cues to reel you in and keep you focused on the action at all times.

Imagine a cross-over between Ninja Gaiden and Metal Gear, with a retro sidescrolling vibe turned up to eleven in terms of quality.

    Highly recommended. :)

  11. Isn't there a policy on OCR that states remix projects need to show progress to maintain approval? The last update was over a YEAR ago.

Been pushing for this project to get completed for ages, but Juan went awol and Will is proly too busy with his career to give a shit anymore.

How about letting someone who cares about Junko Tamiya's work carry though and get this album finished? We can't let all this go to waste.
