Awesome video! A little pixelated, but who cares about that when you can make a music video on a ReMix. Cool job.

Decided to give the GBA version a good listen to when I realized the list of songs up for grabs for the GBA version is incomplete. Stilt Village and Waterfall are missing from the list.
Stilt Village in particular would be a huge miss, since I consider it to be one of the better ones in the GBA version.
Also the credits, but that was just a medley of the other songs so not sure if that counts.
You're talking about Cascade Capers (Waterfall) and Lakeside Limbo (Stilt Village). Some of the songs on the GBA soundtrack had different names from the SNES. So, with that said, I can assure you that Emunator didn't leave those great themes out.
Good catch, though. -
Happy B-day, Meteo! And I get to say the same for myself tomorrow! Muhahaha!

It doesn't take a fan to potentially make a good game movie. It takes people who are willing to look into the history of the franchise, see the stories and characters, and be willing to use all of the mythos that franchise has to offer in building the script. From there, it takes people who are actually good at their craft... be it acting, directing, cinematography, whatever. And then of course, you need people who are good at special effects, set design and so forth.
The problem with game movies, is that most of the time there are several of those things missing. They might find decent actors, or get some nice shots, but the majority of what gets laid to film feels like everyone was slacking off... they it was just being done for a paycheck (i.e. anything by/for Uwe Boll).
There's nothing that says a fan will be good at writing, acting, directing, or any other aspect of making a film. Being a fan doesn't make that person skilled. You just need people who really care about their craft enough to be good at it, regardless of what the source of their movie is.
Well, yeah, I didn't mean any clueless no-skill fan.
I meant people who are good at what you said (like actually making movies, writing, etc.) knowing enough about the series or game to make something decent and maybe having some prior experience with the game. I'm just saying that if they know what it's about, they'll hopefully avoid another SMB and SF2. -
In all honesty, a Castlevania movie *could* be done well, but it would take a director and screenwriter who is both a fan of the games AND creative with a script in order to give the appropriate amount of fanservice, while also adhering to classic monster-movie and action movie sub-tropes.
(obviously I want post-MK Paul S. Anderson to stay the HELL away. Thank god he's no longer associated)
I think it takes a fan and creative script writers to make ANY game movie, seeing as how most of them done by people who aren't fans suck.
I'd like to see Mega Man X or Zero done with a Movie. Anyone remember that anime thing that came with the remake of MMX? If they did something like that, it might work. In all seriousness, almost anything could work if you know what you are doing.

I was thinking about starting up the speedrun competition that unmod had going on probably in 2006 or so again. This feels like a good place to interest mill, it being a speedrun thread and all.
Basically the idea is it's a simple weekly pissing contest, we start off with a game, DKC for instance, and we just run the game, cart or emulator doesn't really matter, I just ask that nobody would play through tool assisted cause that's just stupid. The thread will limit every player to 3 practice runs and a legit timer run, and we'll just use the trust system to post results. The winner of each week gets to pick the next game, but they can't compete in the game that they select, they can however post their record time for bragging rights.
So yeah the easiest way to circumvent cheating is to have no real reward other than picking the next week's game that you can't even compete in. Rules for game selection are fairly simple, something no longer than an hour or two tops, and not too hard or terrible.
Anyone think this is a good idea?
I love the idea, and that "reward/stop people from lying" idea is pretty cool too. So if it happens, I'm in (if I have the game we start on, that is.)

Hurray for Emunator! This is awesome! *Clap Clap Clap-Clap-Clap*. I'm on the side-lines with Slippa and co. I don't know the first thing about ReMixing, so good luck to the talented folk!
-
The beginning with the screeching eagle was the perfect way to start off this ReMix. I don't mind the fact that this is a bit slower than normal, as the guitars shredding out through it is done really well. The only problem I have is that the real slow part at the end seems to come up out of nowhere, like their is little to no transition.

Beautiful. Really hooked me with this one, Patrick. I'm a sucker for sea shanty-like beats and celtic vibes, and the flute brought it all together. I really think you got the overall feeling of a ship sailing the open waves. A nice light tune to end the flood. Well done, me matey!

Oh man, this is just too sweet! Taucer, Hale-bopp and Jose the Bronx Rican doing a remix on the Mine theme of DKC2!? That's what got me hyped for the album, but when I heard the early verison on DoD, I couldn't get any more excited. I really don't understand people who back away from a vocal remix without giving it a listen, but I love the lyrics and tone of the whole song. I really don't have any complaints about this ReMix, and I'm thinking this made the Top Ten List for me.
-
Cool. I always liked Protricity's ReMix, but this takes it in a pretty cool direction. Jazzy and more "Jungley". Is it wrong for me to say that some parts remind me of those "Local on the 8's" themes on the Weather Channel, but in a good way? It's soothing and relaxing, I love it. Kinda funny how this theme annoyed me to no end when I tried to get through the Lost World, but this is so chill.

Great music heals all wounds, and this is more than great, it's absolutely astonishing! (Ha, you thought I was going to say amazing, didn't you?) Virt did really well with this ReMix, and I always thought this song had Trance written all over it, but I never realized how much of an upgrade it would have been. Now the climax isn't the only thing I can listen to, as the trance beats give the lower sections their own spotlight. Nice!

Only four songs in, and this is probably going to be one of my top three favorite songs on this album! I mean, come on, I've waited for this track ever since I saw the ReMixers doing it! Nicole and Injury, the amazing girls that did my favorite OCR song Permutation doing another DKC song with Tepid's work and Ault's sweet vocals added. It's a good day, indeed! I never imagined this as a vocal song, but the justice brought onto it was so better than I would have thought. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to hear it on the radio, because the music and lyrics flow so well. Much ReSpect to the ReMixers of this project.

I never thought I'd say it, but Fishy beat Prot's verison! If this is a trend of what the album is like, the Prot. tracks I downloaded will have some company. Fishy made this beautiful theme rock with a smooth as hell guitar. This really is a gift and with that, on to the next amazing song!

Nicely done, DJP, I knew you could do it. Tuba and Basson FTW! You really did have that Elfman thing going in the intro, but no one works an electro-ocra. ReMix like you. It is an epic way to begin the DKC2 album (in numbers) and while you may have taken the year off to get the site and this mix in top form, I think this is your year! Go DJP!

Dave Wise, Grant and Beanland all on one OCR track as the #2000 ReMix that started the release of the DKC2 album.......*WWWHHHHHOOOOOOTTTTTTT!!!!!!* Seriously though, this a great track. Dave took a track he did around 15 years ago and molded it into a proud 2010 beast of music! The horns were great, the track easily flowed and I actually find this better than the original because it seems.....em......I don't know if this is the right word, fresher or crisper. Either way, amazing work and congrats to these VGM masters and the OCR crew! See you all at #3000!

DJP- "However, the Divers still managed to construct something original, catchy, and destined to invoke the wrath of those who hold even the quirky Chocobo theme sacrosanct and/or hate rapping of any kind and/or dislike the notion of an amusing track on an FF4 album, because all Final Fantasy must be serious business at all times."
This is awful. Seriously. It was a joke track on the otherwise awesome FF4 project, and I can't believe it was even taken seriously. I mean... honestly. Even as an OCR, how can anyone take this as anything serious? Team Gato has the same problem, but at least Team Gato has good music underlying the silliness.Everything about this is bad. The rapping is loose, and lacks intelligence. The music underneath is repetitive and boring. Just... No. Maybe this would make sense as an April Fool's day flood, but yeesh.
Alright, let me qualify this a bit. I love team Gato, but because it has actual game lyrics, and great underlying music. As far as Rap goes, I think you can't get any more controversial or awesome than Niggaz For Life, which was amazing. So the rap thing can be done and done well. As other mixes have proved (Including one very recently posted.) So it's not the style or the decision to have some fun that's the problem here. The fact that it is an obvious joke, like Music of My Groin (which is only "awesome" because it's so retarded) is what kills it.
Wow, is just too funny.
I think DJP saw this comment coming. In fact, I'm wondering if you really feel this way or just humoring DJP's comment, because it's way too close to his "too serious" remark. That being said, I liked it. The lyrics were corny and obviously a parody (although I thought Shiva's part was pretty hot, no pun). I agree that the lyrics could have been tighter, but this is more than I'd expect. The beat was done well with the original theme and I liked the fact that it kept the same weirdness of the original (and probably made it weirder). Yeah, this is probably one of the best themes on the album.
-
Wow, I wasn't expecting that at all. This is pretty good, and I think if you add more length to the song as well as build on it a bit (more meat, cresendos possibly, etc.) then it would be amazing. Sounds like you just need to flesh it out, but I like what you have so far.

All this has me thinking about buying DKC2 for SNES. How does it compare to DKC1?
Better music, better gameplay, better storyline (kinda), better levels and more interesting end bosses. Aside from the graphics (I think they were the same), it was better than DKC1 IMO.

*Plays DKC2 level complete Fanfare*
Oh yeah!!!!!!! Awesome work, guys!
-
The album is officially complete!
Congrats to all involved. Can't wait until Monday!
-
That's too bad. I bet the album would sound ridiculous while on meds.
Or hilarious, depending on which meds. Hope your ankle heals fast, Taucer!

Listen to what I say,
Cause I came to play
Donkey Kong 2 is on the way
And March 15 is the magical day!
Like the sun and it's burnin' ray
I've been waiting for this since last May.
So light that fire down by the bay
cause it's time for a DKC par-TAY!

Yup, encompassing the rough hours around the states where people might be eating dinner. My suggestion for dinner on Saturday: fried plantains with a side of banana bread.
I'll be chewing some crocodile tail with banana-nut muffins, but I'll be there!.

I really don't know what to say besides, I love it. I was going to skip this, because I never cared for Candy's song and the lyrics didn't sound good in my head. But I was wrong, and while the "flying poo" deal makes me wince, everything else was spot on. Good stuff.
