  1. Woot! When do you leave? English speaking?

  2. Oh, wow. Tied second, cool. I'll try to get a louder version up sometime soon. I'll fix the vocals, too. Good job, everybody!
  3. Yeah, I thought they stuck out a bit, too. It had reverbed that section to a point I where liked it. But I didn't write down what the parameters were, and so I had to try to duplicate it and it didn't work as well the 2nd time. But yes, I thought it was time for a 'Find Your Way' mix, too. There are a few songs from popular games that I think get overlooked. I just want to say that this was a lot of fun. I would do it next month, but it's NaNoWriMo, and I'm gonna try for a 3rd novel. Also, thank you, Gario. You gave me some great pointers.
  4. Right. Sources used were "Find Your Way" and "Liberi Fatali" from FFVIII.
  5. Hey, it seems we're paired up for the Stars contest. I had a couple ideas for songs we could do.

    'Find Your Way' from FF8.

'Chasing the Black-Caped Man' from FF7.

Let me know what you think.

  6. I'll be a novice. Here are my samples. http://tindeck.com/listen/wzbr That one is posted in the WIPs. Here's another one I did for the EoL project. http://tindeck.com/listen/jlvf I use Finale SongWriter 2007, a Yamaha keyboard, Audacity, and Linux MultiMedia Studio. No cool DAW for me. I can connect over Skype, but I prefer email, my OCR profile, or Facebook.
  7. Dude, awesome news! My doctor pretty much cleared me! I will have to stay in the states and be near a kidney doctor, but I yet may be able to serve. :D

Now I have to get past mission medical.

And it's good to hear that you'll be turning in your papers soon. Be sure to post your call when it comes.

  8. So how are the mission plans coming? Turns out my health won't allow me to serve, but it's okay. Have you been working on any songs?

  9. This does interest me as well. I haven't done much remixing, but I'll send you a couple samples of music once I have a moment to slow down.
  10. Hey guys! This was just shared with me. I thought some people here might enjoy it. The Music geek and the VG geek in me both loved this. You can check out the making of the music by clicking on the related videos at the end.
  11. Updated! http://tindeck.com/listen/pdsr Downloaded LMMS and edited the song. Here's the latest MP3 version. I tried to put more humanization in it. I changed the tempo in places, put more volume changes, and put one piano slightly behind the other. I also made sure there was no clipping that I could hear. I did not change the arrangement at all. Let me know what ya'll think. Most changes are subtle, but I felt they added a bit of reality.
  12. As far as the idea for the Title Track goes, my initial thought was something along the lines of this song, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky4wTMZ0AZM at about 54 seconds when it comes in with all the drums and such. Bagpipes, choir, drums, electric guitar, bass, maybe some mandolin or a wind instrument. IDK about lyrics. But if a more simple, folksy feel is desired, that would be cool, too.
  13. Thanks Tuberz, that's what I meant. I wasn't quite sure which genre to call it. Folk Metal, like Viking metal, right? I don't have a DAW, but I would be willing to collab by helping with composition on the Title Theme.
  14. Hmm, I don't know what style your going for, but I think the Title Theme arranged in a Celtic Punk style would sound quite awesome. Bagpipes and electric guitar are great together. I don't have the tools for such an idea, just throwing it out there.
  15. Thanks you guys! All I'm using is Finale SongWriter, so it is midi quality. I don't own a DAW. I didn't realize the program could pan until you guys just asked for it, so I'll do that quick. Pyro Paper Planes, if you'd like to take the midi and work with it, I'd totally be okay with it. Okay, I got the midi. Here is the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?5b0ipob196ygo66
  16. Awesome dude! I plan on turning my papers in around March or so, and then we'll see. I'll definitely post it when it comes.

  17. http://tindeck.com/listen/wzbr Haha, what's this? An update on a year old song? Yep This is written for two pianos, so that's why it sounds that way. Added an ending, finally. Not sure I like it, though. I added a few more arpeggios; I realized you were right, SuperSlacker, about the excessive bass. I also added some dynamics, but it really is difficult to get them right on a computer. I found that when I put Pianos, it lost intensity, not just volume. Cleaned up some areas so they weren't as cluttered, but I still feel it in some places, like at 1:22ish. Anyway, let me know what ya'll think.
  18. Hey, I saw your message to SuperSlacker that you're LDS. Glad I'm not the only LDS that's on here. You planning on serving after BYU?

  19. Wow. Seriously loved it. Beautiful together, you two. I gotta ask: do you write it all down or just play from memory?
  20. http://tindeck.com/listen/utjn I thought I'd mess around with three of my favorite Legend of Zelda songs on the piano. This is what I've come up with so far. The songs are Tal Tal Heights from Link's Awakening, Dark World theme from Link to the Past, and Song of Storms from OoT. I know there are no dynamics yet; I haven't added many. Tell me what ya'll think. BTW, I'm using Finale SongWriter 2007, so it's not the best of quality. Here's the checklist for copying purposes. I marked a few I thought applied to it already. ARRANGEMENT / INTERPRETATION [ ] Too conservative - sticks too close to the source [ ] Too liberal - not enough connections to the source (too much original writing) [ ] Too much direct sampling from original game audio [ ] Borrows heavily from non-source material (eg. a theme from a movie) PRODUCTION [ ] Too loud [x] Too quiet [ ] Low-quality samples [ ] Unrealistic sequencing [ ] Generic/cliche sound choices [ ] Drums have no energy [x] Overcompressed (pumping/no dynamics) [ ] Mixing is muddy (eg. too many sounds in the same range) PERFORMANCE (live recorded audio/MIDI parts) [ ] Timing not tight enough [ ] Wrong notes, general sloppiness [x] Poorly recorded [ ] Bad intonation STRUCTURE [ ] Lacks coherence overall (no "flow") [x] Not enough changes in sounds (eg. static texture, not dynamic enough) [ ] Pace too plodding [ ] Too repetitive [ ] Too short [ ] Abrupt ending PERSONAL COMMENTS (positive feedback, specifics on checklist criticisms, any other thoughts) [write here]
  21. Ok. Shall I send you the WIP then?

  22. Hey, Lemon. I'm still around (for reasons beyond my control) and was thinking of taking a shot at the Temple Ruins myself, if you're good with me. Wildfire did say she wanted to also, unfortunately about the same time I started dallying with it, but could I send you what I have so far anyway? If no, it's good.

  23. Totally submit it! I loved it. May I ask how you got such realistic Piano?
  24. Can't believe I forgot that part. Probably important, eh? EDIT: Also, I'm a pianist, so it's what I used. This isn't me playing cuz I'm not that advanced yet. I hope to be someday
  25. -The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages -Trouble on the Raft! -Original composition by Koji Kondo. -Game Boy Color. The only Not-Youtube place I have found it so far is here: http://www.thehylia.com/media/albums/mp3/ooa/2-10%20Trouble%20On%20The%20Raft!.mp3 Lol, wow. I forgot that? Really? Here: http://www.mediafire.com/?imzzk1zkdni This is my submission to the Essence of Lime album for the track "Trouble on the Raft." I never heard it on the game, but it must have been on the cartridge. I don't even know if it would pass submissions because of that, but whatever. I added a bit of Ocarina of Time into it and some of the main Zelda theme. I would just like feedback on it.
