What it comes down to most is the feel of your guitar. The string gauge determines how easy the guitar is to play (lighter strings bend easier and aren't as damaging to your fingers) and also the tone of the strings (heavier strings tend to have a little bit more bottom end definition to the sound). And the pick gauge determines the string attack sound, a little of the string tone, and most importantly the playing feel in your hands. Heavier picks give you a more controlled and rigid feel, and smaller picks give you more control.
There are also other factors like lower tuning stability with heavier strings and different types of attack dynamics with light/heavy picks etc etc, but mainly what it comes down to is playing comfort.
Lol, I'm just using the strings that came with my guitar...I should probably get those replaced sometime though.

So why do you guys use the strings/picks you do?
Do they make any specific differences?
I'm a guitar noob, so I've kind of been wondering what the deal is with all the different string types.

Nobody's mentioned Valkyrie Profile?
It's probably the most emotional game I've played (I mean you spend the entire game watching people die, and some of the stories are really touching).
It is really story heavy though. You have to be willing to sit through half hour cutscenes.

Oh yes, I hope you are loving my WIP! *wink, wink*
I'll probably have to 'finish' this song next year.
Yeah man, the way you use silence is fantastic!
And by next year, I really hope you mean 2012?
Is December still good for a first draft?

Haha, Well I have WIPs from most people but they haven't been posted on the forum...you should get on that guys!

Nice video!
I saw some of your stuff a while ago, but I didn't make the connection when I was listening to VV XD.
I love the arrangement though!

That sounds awesome! I love "insane" music, so I'm looking forward to hearing the rest.
How come you have to wait until OCR posts you though?
-
Cool!
Lol, I guess I should mention the piano too seeing as you specifically asked about it XD
I usually don't mind sequenced piano much, and it seems to work well enough in this piece, so there are really no complaints here
I think I remember someone mentioning the piano sample in Mayan Malfunction as well, but it didn't bother me there either, so other people may have differing opinions on this.

I've gotta say, 0:18 to 0:39 is really catchy for some reason
A few of the sections sound like they could be filled out a little more (especially during the second half), but other than that, this is pretty awesome.

This one totally faked me out .
First I was expecting techno, and then when it started I thought the entire song was going to be orchestral XD.
The combination of genres ended up working really well though. A little short, but pretty cool anyway.

Guess what? I'm going to bump all of the tracks you've posted here because they're all awesome, and because somehow I missed them when they were first posted .
This one starts off kind of slow, but it gets really interesting by the end.
Great creepy atmosphere too.
Kind of appropriate for the time of year I guess (even if you posted it 2 months ago ).

Happy Birthday!
Thanks for helping me out in the workshop forum

However, BGC's "The Clubbing of Isaac" and zircon's "Ashes to Ashes" inspired me to try tasteful addition of wobble bass, since they proved that it CAN be done without overwhelming a track (suck on that, Skrillex...)

I'm with you there. I find most straight-up dubstep really boring, however if it's used in moderation and with other elements, it can turn out really nicely.
Aaaaand, you did it really well
Great song!
The last ten seconds hurt my ears though :S

Updated the first post.
Should be an accurate depiction of who's doing what now
Also, sending out forum invitations to everyone who didn't already get one.
-
That would certainly be a departure from the original lol.
Lol, well that's what OCR's all about right?
I'm just kidding though. Good luck with this.

I kind of think this source should be arranged in smooth jazz.

Nah, that was intentional actually - The Curse might as well be melded into The Oracle is my thoughts, although if something is to change, I wouldn't mind either. However it shakes down can always be adjusted.
Ah, fair enough. I guess there isn't really much to work with in the curse anyway.

Just a note, 36 and 37 are on the same line. Might want to change that.

Nice, now we have projects going for 3 of the Mana games!
It's definitely a series that desrves it.

Interesting album. I'd never have thought that such awesome music would come from an NES sports game based on dodgeball!
-
Wow, I like this a lot
Pretty funny voice samples too.

Happy birthday!

I thought I had already downloaded this...well in any case, I have now, and so far it's fantastic! Great job guys!

You may not see their side, but that doesn't mean that their views are not rational. The same argument you're making could be applied to pretty much anything. Abortion for instance.
