  1. Hey there, just some observations:

    - The violin at the beginning is a little unnecessary. It just cuts out and never comes back in. I know in the previous versions you had the violin playing along with the piano, but now that you've taken it out, there isn't really any reason for it to be there.

    - I think the piano is panned a little bit too much. It's like I'm only hearing the left hand with my left ear, and only the right hand with my right. I think it would make more sense to have them closer to the middle.

    - At 0:17 the waves cut out for a second and then start to repeat. It happens at the end too.

    - When the left hand of the piano comes in it starts out a little bit fast and then slows down to the songs tempo. It would be nice if it started at the same speed as the rest of the song.

    - The left hand is a bit too simple for me. Adding in some more chords would make it that much better I think.

    Hope this helps :)

  2. Aah, alright, XDD. I'll give those topics a look =3.

And yeah, I know OCR techno tends to be much better than the majority of stuff on Youtube (I have a lot of them on this computer). I probably wouldn't disallow it, I'd just ask to avoid being generic, lol.

I'm still kind of confused on the whole album process though. As I understood it when I read over the guidelines, a project isn't an official OCR project unless it gets approved when you fill out the project sheet there, right? I remember it saying that if it got rejected that you can re-send it after revising it and/or getting more contributors.

Does this mean that before I send in a form, I should have some remixers interested in helping first before I try to get the project official? (I probably wouldn't send it in until I can answer the basic stuff it asks for, I'm just curious so I can know for when I am ready to send it in for approval).

Yeah, don't send it in until you have a bunch of people signed up and have a clear idea of what you're doing (Having lots of posted mixers helps too). If it gets accepted it will be moved to the projects subforum.

Edit: So I'm poking around Youtube to try and get together something of a tracklist and I think I found a decent idea to kinda pull all the tracks together in one album. Since Gruntilda is always the antagonist in the games, the album could be organized by her various attempts to foil the heroic duo. So like all remixes from the first game would go under a heading of like "Sister Kidnapping" or something of that nature. Whatever Gruntilda's main goal in the specific game was, it'd be the title/header of that specific part of the album... /idea.

I haven't played the games, so I can't really comment, but it sounds good. A solid theme is nice to have :).

  3. Well there aren't really any guidelines for what needs to be included in an album or how the tracks need to be mixed. It's totally up to you and the artists, so if you want it to be solely medleys, then tell people that. If you want no medleys at all, let people know that too.

If you want to see how other people are running their projects, take a look at http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=31725, http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=30903 and http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=35647.

You'll see that the Paper Mario one is broken up into different "chapters" and requires mixes to be orchestral in some way, while the Zelda one requires mixers to mix together at least 2 tracks, and the Mana one leaves it more or less up to the artist.

Honestly, just do whatever you think would suit the game(s) best :)

Also, if you don't want techno, make sure you tell people that as well (Although you'd be missing out on some great talent, and OCR techno tends to be much higher quality than youtube techno).

  4. Nonsense.

It depends what you're going for. If you want your project to be a compilation of the best/your favourite songs over the series, do that. I think what Kuolema means is that trying to remix every song used in all three games is a ton of work. There's no reason why you can't pick and choose though and end up with something manageable.

Yeah thats true...as long as there aren't too many tracks...

  5. Definitely take a look at the project guidelines.

That should give you most of the information you'll need.

As for theme and content, you could either set strict guidelines (Specific genres, specific tracks), or you could leave it up to the artists who join.

I would suggest not trying to take on too much at a time. Putting 3 games in one album generally isn't a good idea.

It would probably be best if you stuck with the original game for now (you can always do sperate albums for the others after the first one is released).

    Hope this helps :)

  6. http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/request.py?hl=en&contact_type=contact_policy&policy=yt&rd=1

This is the only place I found that was talking about being able to e-mail them.

    Otherwise there was also:

    http://www.youtube.com/t/contact_us

Which has a few different resources.

Not sure if any of that is what you're looking for though.

Yeah, it's looking like email isn't a great option...I assume djp has already contacted them with a dispute anyway.

    Good luck with the tweets!

  7. Really scary stuff. The wording of the bill is ambiguous enough that even someone linking to a site that has copywritten material is grounds for that first site to be instantly shut down.

But seeing as I don't live in the US, I don't really know what there is I can do about it :S

Yeah, me too...that americancensorship site has a button that says "I'm not in the US", but all it does is change the ZIP code to 20000, so I really don't know what good that will do.

Thanks for those, I'd wanted to take a closer look at the bill itself, but I didn't know where to find it. I'm definitely going to take a look.

  8. Don't rely on Obama to veto it if a big majority of congress lets it through (not saying that he wouldn't, but it's better to be on the safe side).

    This.

I know there have been similar bills before that have been voted down, but it is still rather worrying each time a new one pops up.

There is always a possibility that the current bill will be the one that goes through.

  9. Okay...clearly there is some misinformation going around here. Peta is definitely not against keeping pets.

Take a look at their page on companion animals.

They are against things like puppy mills and animal abuse by owners, but not against keeping pets, in fact they encourage adopting cats and dogs so that they can have good safe homes.

Obviously there's an issue if the pet owner is abusive, but they are quite happy with non abusive owners.

Edit: Ah, I just got to the part in the Penn and Teller episode where they talk about this. Well guess what? They give no evidence to back up that statement. I guess things like that show are where so many people get false information about PETA.

Edit 2: Wait a minute...Equating the animal rights movement to the abolition of slavery can only be equated to "Having gone to college"? What does that even mean?

  10. Again, the basis for these views is rational: animals have rights. If this isn't rational, why are there animal cruelty laws?

It's PETA's taking the view to the extreme that is often irrational (i.e. valuing human life less than other animal life).

I agree, except that I do not think that PETA values animal life more than human life. On the same level for sure, but not more than.
