Oh, by the way, you need Incarnation of Devil for SO2

Updated the first post with my initial track listing for the Star Ocean series with links to sources on YouTube. It's still doesn't contain my complete and finalized picks. I'm pretty much satisfied with my Star Ocean 4 picks but have not completed the rest of the series. Again, feel free to suggest your favorites but what I'm really looking for is help with Star Ocean 3: Till the End of Time. I only know of one awesome track but in general I'm just not familiar with the OST at all since it's the only installment I haven't played.
Once that's out of the way, we can start the recruitment phase...but as we've been discussing and mentioned in the first post, it looks like we're going for releasing this project in volumes like OCR's Final Fantasy V. The question is, which series do we start with first in terms of production phase? I'm all ears, but leaning towards Baten Kaitos first since it has the most underrated and under-remixed music...and that's what I'd like to push out to be remixed first. Thoughts? Suggestions?
Sounds like a good idea. I've only played Baten Kaitos once or twice, so I'm not particularly familiar with the music, but it's a pretty awesome game!
Btw, once you're finished the final tracklist, I would suggest doing some formatting of the first post (especially bolding headlines and linking the sources to the track titles). The way it is right now is kind of hard to read.

Any Updates? Starting on the Star Ocean Tracklist?
-
I believe so.
-
Yeah, I love that soundtrack too! Check out this song from DoD if you haven't already.

Not going to lie, it took me by surprise, too. Sounded like they put in a remix in the middle of their soundtrack and just said 'Fuck it, let's just go with that'. A very good track, though.
Wait - Isn't that exactly what they did?
Edit: Nevermind, that's what you said XD

Thanks guys

Use EQ to remove the high and low end.
That's actually what I was already doing. Is that really all there is to it?
Also, add occasional noise. The free LFX-1310 has an LP Noise effect that does just that.Cool, I'll take a look.

Does anyone have any tips on how to achieve a good sounding low-fi sound (Yeah, I know that's an oxymoron ), similar to the beginning of
?(BTW, I'm not talking about the static effects, just the sound quality.)

Someday I want to study why people respond enthusiastically to deals by posting that they have no money.
Lol, not sure how much help I can be with that...study away if you'd like though
-
$600?! If i had any sort of money I would be all over this.

Okay look, cut that shit out. I am seriously tired of seeing this joke every freaking time someone is doing anything vaguely related to something that isn't the 'cool' part of pop culture. (i.e. videogames) It's gotten seriously fucking old.
also, 'kitchen' jokes any time it's a photo of a female doing something impressive
Thank you!

Hahaha, they're on Facebook now: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Legal-Sounds/247555928603692
Lol, too funny XD.

Is it just me or is there a song with a similar melody to this on Armed and dangerous? I could have sworn there was but now I can't find it...maybe I was just remembering this one from the trailer .
Anyway, this has a really cool atmosphere. Love it!

I think it's good to have guidelines. I don't see any reason why people can't necessarily do songs that aren't on the track list, but there's no reason why there shouldn't be one at all.
Every project director runs things differently anyways .
EDIT: By the way, I noticed that the first post mentions that each disk should be around 20 tracks. I think it might be a good idea to aim slightly under that. 18 tracks is probably fine, but when you get closer to 20 you could be cutting it close in terms of length. Since most writable CDs can only hold 80 minutes of music, each track on a 20 track disk would have to be under 4 minutes (which might be limiting for some people). Just thought I'd put that out there; It would suck to end up with a disk that was just a minute or two too long to be burned.

I think we can put each of these tracks depending on where they debuted first. I'm pretty sure Mission to Deep Space first appeared in Star Ocean 2. The other two came up first in Valkyrie Profile, right? But yeah, we'll definitely have these three up as they're common tracks in tri-Ace's games. I particularly enjoy Mission to Deep Space the most.
I think Incarnation of Devil started off in Star Ocean as well.

Anyway, these are my suggestions for VP:
Requiem to a Predicament (Maybe with some
as well)/Those are kind of the "Necessities" in my opinion. Most of them are in Covenant of the Plume as well, and I think some of them are also in VP2.
I haven't played VP2, so I can't really suggest anything for it, but I really like it's battle theme.
As for Covenant of the Plume, most of the music is from the first game, but there is
, andmight be nice to include as well. -
And yes, that fanfare is cool, but since it's short I'm sure it'll have to be included as part of another and longer track, a medley of sorts.
Yeah, maybe it can be combined with the battle music?
Btw, I know there are some tracks that are in both Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile (Confidence in the Domination, Incarnation of Devil and Mission to the Deep Space), so I think those would be ideal for this project. I don't know which disk they would go on though...
-
Yes! Valkyrie Profile is one of my favorite games, so I was kind of hoping someone would make a project for it
Just to make sure, are you planning on devoting one disk to each of the series?
Also, you absolutely must have
on it. Best victory fanfare ever! -
So apparently the bills have been indefinitely postponed.
How does this change anything? Doesn't 'postponed' imply that they will come back?
-
TIME SIG AIN'T NO THANG yo
Just put everything in 44/3.5
-
Link's Awakening already has an OCR album devoted to it, so I think Majora's Mask would be a better choice. Also, since it's more or less a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time, it might be kind of cool
Also I'm glad these are back. I'm looking forward to more!
-
You know what would be good? If all of these sites stayed down until SOPA dies. THAT would really draw attention.
-
My list is very skewed because my computer has died several times in the last couple of years meaning I lost a ton of playcounts. Also, I usually listen to OCR on my ipod anyway, and I don't think play counts transfer over. So basically, these numbers are a lot lower than they should be.
Anywho...

Lol, this makes sense to me .
It's nice to branch out and try new things, but you obviously know what you're doing in this genre so you could always just doing new things within it.
After all, just because most of the EDM you listen to is repetitive doesn't mean that yours has to be.
