  1. DUUUUDE!!! I have heard many different cover artists and cover bands do metal/rock versions of every song imaginable, but you are one of the few who are actually good at it. I love it wish there were an easier way to download these.
  2. Hey, not trying to be a jerk, but this is a recruitment thread only, not a discussion for this project or any other. From my understanding you can ask some questions, but you really can't carry on a conversation or talk about the project in general. I really don't want a mod storming in here. Thanks!
  3. Shoot! Didn't know there were secret projects going on But, I don't mind. Majora's Mask will get more love this way.
  4. Remixers are slowly trickling in. I have a total of three people (not including me) working on some WIPs. I received on WIP today and it was really good. Please, if you are at all interested PM me. I have no genre restrictions. I am going to go ahead and post all the source tracks I am accepting in the main project post. I was planning on having a set number of tracks and doing 2 albums and whatnot, but I am going to put that on the back burner for now and really open up the options.
  5. I have two people working on some WIPs. Not a lot of interest, but I guess that's because there are a lot of projects going on right now.
  6. I think the solo at the end is great. Not everything has to be quantized. It gives the mix a much more realistic feel to it and from what I've heard that's a good thing. You don't want the mix to sound to MIDI-ish if you know what I mean.
  7. I would say submit it. It has a good chance of passing, and if it doesn't pass I'm sure the judges would say to resubmit it
  8. Haha! Sorry, meant no offense. But, after listening to again, it sounds alright. However, there is one part where you really bang on the piano and I think the velocity is a little too hard. You might want to tone it down a bit. Also, just to let you know I have the piano intro stuck in my head. It just keeps playing over and over. That's a good thing. I think you really created a good hook in your mix.
  9. Your latest version is 10x better. The drums may be a little too loud for my taste, but that's mostly personal opinion. Is the piano a live instrument, or is it a sample? It sounds like a sample to me and there are some parts where the humanization is slightly off. If you could get a real piano or a better sounding sample for the interlude you have there, the interlude might sound better. Right now, it sounds nice, but it's hard to listen to the piano for long because it doesn't sound really good. Love the acoustic bass by the way
  10. Beautiful piece! The piano sample sounds really authentic. I think this is the first remix I have heard of Will's where he doesn't use any synths. Great work!
  11. Where's my espresso?? If you are able to jazz it up more, do! Instrumentation is good. For further expansion I'd definitely suggest a bit of sax in there. See if you can get a live sax player to work with you on this mix. That would add a lot. The vibes and piano are excellent. For the intro, try to vary the bass lines a bit before the piano comes in. I like the bass at the beginning, but it sounds a little too simple as it is. I could hear the bass just fine, but I would still take Rozo's advice and try EQing the bass and see how that sounds. Good job so far. We need more jazz remixes!
  12. Not what I'd call trance, but it's definitely a good start First, I'd bring down the highs a little bit on some of your instruments, especially the drums. I think the drums would sound better if you got that bass thud going rather than relying on the high pitches. That first arp synth that comes in should be replaced with something else, or make it sound less generic. There was one other synth that sounded generic, but I liked most of the other ones you used.
  13. I have a new version of the song done. It needs a lot of work, but the bad thing is FL crashed and I don't have any data of the song saved so I will have to start from scratch again. I have a section at the end where I try expanding on the theme a bit and I plan to draw that part out more and end with the main windmill theme.
  14. DJSoto13 Glad you liked it. I am working on a new version. As for the synths, they came from a soundfont pack from Digital Sound Factory. Here's the link: http://www.digitalsoundfactory.com/soundfont/digital-sound-factory-1500-soundfont-instruments-mega-pack/product_info.php/cPath/44/products_id/309
  15. Thanks guys for all the help. @prophetik I actually play the electric guitar and bass and would like to record those live. That's why I am looking at buying a soundcard.
  16. Ooo! I love a good rock remix and you have done pretty well. Arrangement is good, but you may need a little more originality to get on OCR. Production wise, you need some more highs on the EQ. Your lead is kinda muffled. It's a great cover, nonetheless.
  17. The arrangement is a little too liberal for my liking, but that's just personal opinion. Production It is too loud. The lead often drowns out the background instruments. Try to get it too blend with the other synths, but still have the prominence. It's sometimes hard to get just right, but it makes a mix so much better. Your synths are too generic and aren't humanized at all. Mess around with some filters and the velocity. Also throw in some panning effects to give the mix a more dynamic feel to it. You have a good source to work with and you have done well in your arrangement. Work on the production side of it and also the structure. I would change up the synths once or twice so that you don't have that generic feel to it.
  18. Opening up with the drum is nice, but your kick is too hollow. Try layering it to fatten it up. I would also try to make the intro sound a little more interesting as well. Vagrance had a good idea with using a drone to add some more texture. Where's the bass? I can't hear it when the drum is going and I can barely hear it when it's just playing by itself. It needs to be louder especially if you're going to have it solo for a bit. The overall track is very basic and empty. I hope you're working on a better ending 'cause the one you have now isn't very good. Add some pads to fill out the sound more. The middle part where all the instruments come together and play the main melody is very good and you need to carry that out into the rest of the track. My suggestions: fatten the kick drum, turn up the bass, add some pads (and maybe some other synths) to fill out the sound, get a better ending, and also lengthen the track. It is a little short.
  19. Ok, good. Since it seems my processor and ram is good, I'll put my money towards a better soundcard! Thanks for the help.
  20. That's the processor speed. The full name is Intel Core i5 CPU M450 @ 2.40GHz.
  21. I am running Win7 and my CPU is 2.40GHz. As for complexity, I probably won't get any more complex than some of the demos that come with FL. I just want to make sure I'm not going to need a quad-core processor with 8gb RAM
  22. Hey, I am relatively new and was wondering what hardware (computer-wise) do I need to do remixing? Right now I have a 500gb hard drive and 4gb RAM. Is that good enough? I plan to be using FL Studio a lot once I buy it.
  23. Hmm...It has potential. I am not familiar with dubstep, but I like the glitchiness you have going, but that seems to be all the track is, a glitchy mess. I tuned it out after the first 30 seconds. There was nothing catchy about it and it just seemed to go on and on. I would also reitterate what Vagrance said. Change the bass. Prototype Raptor has an excellent dubstep version of the Zelda underworld theme that I would suggest you take a listen to. Again, try to make your bass more interesting as well as the drums. They tend to get lost in the chaotic mess. You're going in the right direction, but I think it needs a lot of work before this gets subbed.
